10 cities in two weeks 10 famous rockstars. On my knees. Against the wall. On my tits
I don't care. As long as I get the evidence to prove it. Why? Because I caught my former prick of a boyfriend from Heavy Metal Enthusiasts doing a groupie doggie style backstage on the night we were supposed to be celebrating our 1 year anniversary.
He told me I was too uptight. Too vanilla. Too boring. So I got drunk with my bestie, Marsha West, the aspiring videographer. I ranted. I raved. I came up with a crazy idea. What I didn't know was that my best friend recorded me. Marsha put the video up on YouTube. It went viral with 10 million hits. Now I've got fans and sponsors offering me big bucks.
Rockstars are volunteering to be my f*ck buddy.
Hollywood is calling.
I get to choose which rockstars I want.
The stakes are high.
This sh*t just got real.
What could go wrong?
Rock F*ck Club is a hot little number, where a woman takes back control and goes on a quest of rock stars to take back power and control.
Rock F*ck Club started with Raven seeing something that can’t be unseen – her rockstar boyfriend with another girl. Totally doing it, and then asking her to join in so as to not be a bore. At first, she was devastated, but then she decided that she really should live things up and be less boring. But only on her own terms, not someone else’s.
Strong, empowered women are often seen as bullies, sluts, ‘manly’, noisy… Rock F*ck Club managed to take the slut part out of the equation, even as Raven decided to do ten cities and ten different rockstars. I have always asked myself why it is that women who are open sexually are seen as such a threat. By other women, probably because they are afraid their man will drift… By men – maybe because if women can do comparisons they’re afraid they won’t measure up?
Raven and Marsha went on the road-trip to end all road-trips in Rock F*ck Club, and I loved every second of it. Raven had more than one part of her life she needed to take back the power in, and she managed to do so while also doing her own challenge, falling in love, mending fences, and making money with her enticing story.
There is more to the story than Raven and Marsha conquering girl power one rockstar f*ck at a time, though. There is friendship, loyalty, family trouble, plans for the future, and even love. The cast is diverse and well developed, with characters that made me want to stay a while longer in the tour bus for a chat and a good laugh.
My feels were invested here, and when I came to the end, the only thing I wanted to do was to start reading it all over again! Written in first person point of view, past tense, from Raven’s perspective, Rock F*ck Club is delving into a rocky world, but where there is more going on than Raven’s challenge to herself and the world, and I loved every second of it!
“It has ten million views and twenty thousand comments.” “What?” I screeched. My brows disappeared beneath my bangs. “You’re joking, right?” “No. I totally am not. Apparently a whole lot of women empathize with you.”
I wrapped my fingers tighter around the cold metal of the barricade fence in front of me and tried not to stare at him, but I couldn’t help myself. He glanced down at me as I looked up at him. It was nearly an exact replay of our earlier encounter, but at least I wasn’t on my knees this time.Rock F*ck Club is a hot little number, where a woman takes back control and goes on a quest of rock stars to take back power and control.
