Summary from Goodreads:
Months after moving to the mysterious city of Cognito, Silver is developing her gifts as a Mage, and learning how to live under new laws. Forced to give up her old life, she must now live in secret among the humans. She finally has hope of leading an ordinary life . . . until Logan Cross walks into it. Their chance meeting leads her close to discovering the identity of the nameless Mage who once stole her light and discovered the unique power she possesses. That knowledge poses an unimaginable threat to Silver, fueling her search to find out who he is, before he finds her first. Lives are at stake. Truths are revealed. And an unexpected passion ignites.

Twist picks up shortly after the end of the story in Sterling (Mageri#1). Silver is still the wonderful and strong female protagonist I loved in book one, and she continues to learn how to take care of herself, fight, and use her new powers under Justus’ guard. She also continues to be strong-minded and fiercely loyal to those she feels close to. The scenes with Silver and Simon in them are simply hilarious! He is a riot, and I love the way he has game nights with Silver twice per week, both to get her out of Justus’ underground house, and to keep himself entertained.

Twist is packed with magic, action, romance, great fights, and Silver’s unwavering courage. She sometimes gets herself into seemingly impossible situations, but she also manages to get herself out of them – at least most of the time. The suspense is well built up, and we finally learn the name of the benefactor, through Silver’s incessant scheming. Justus sometimes treats her like a child because she is young young in human years, and practically a baby in mage time. However, Silver skillfully shows him how wrong he is about her time and time again.

I loved the new characters that were introduced, and I think I’m actually a little in love with Logan. He certainly knows how to treat a woman right! And the way he both wants to protect Silver, and let her fight her own battles is what I like the most about him. He takes her seriously, and understands that she has to be able to be independent, even if she also needs to learn to count on the people around her.

The story is well written, the plot is expertly built, and apart from a couple of spelling mistakes, there is only the story that matters! The characters are fleshed out, and we got to understand a lot more about the main characters, even if Justus is still a bit of an enigma. I look forward to the next book in this series, and I recommend it to all readers who love strong female protagonists, some magic, a lot of excitement and a splash of romance.
