Children's librarian by day. Romance novelist by night.
British single father.
Someone else is writing this love story...

Blair Walton isn't your average curvaceous tattooed children's librarian. She's also one half of bestselling romance author, Scarlet Rose. Along with her BFF Raine, she spends her nights writing books so steamy, she's afraid they would shock her Southern conservative grandmother to death . . . if she knew about them. That's why she and Raine write in secret.

On deadline for their latest book and out of ideas, Raine suggests (demands) that Blair find a guy and "do some research". Declan Bennet has all the qualifications: He's British, looks fabulous in a suit, has glorious blue eyes and gets bonus points for being an amazing single dad to his adorable son, Drake. But what starts out as a research project quickly turns into something much more. And Blair's not the only one with secrets.

Unwritten is a fun, quirky and romantic story – featuring a duo of writers using a pen-name so nobody can figure out they’re behind the smutty books that are selling so well.

My Unwritten review:

I’m not sure what part of Unwritten I enjoyed the most! The humor definitely got to me in a big way, but so did the library, the sexy single dad, the friendship between Raine and Blair, the writing, the excellent use of the English language… See what I mean? The characters are a big plus in and of themselves, and their interactions were always believable, even when they were slightly over the top. I loved both the main story, and the little side-stories that took place, and the fact that there were many bookish references just made my heart very, very happy!

The romance was really well done, and to mix things up, Unwritten also included some secrets, a crazy family, a death and a fire! So yes, there’s a lot going on, and it just fits together very nicely, even if it might seem like it shouldn’t. Written in first person point of view, past tense, the story flew by, and made me smile, laugh, blink and feel hot and bothered. If you have a few hours ahead of you and don’t know what to do, pick up Unwritten and have some fun times and enjoy a different kind of contemporary story.

Some of my favorite Unwritten quotes:

“You really look… I’m not sure how to describe it,” he said, pausing to let me enter the elevator first. The perfect gentleman.
“Ravishing is good, I like that word. Stunning. Beautiful. Exquisit.” I was so used to writing with Raine and coming up with synonyms that I did it without thinking. Great, now he thought I was full of myself.

I’d seen this movie multiple times before, but never like this. I also watched Declan out of the corner of my eye and he watched me. There was a whole lot of watching going on.

“Love, you can bite me all you want.” Okay, that sounded like I’d turned into a vampire. I started to say something else, but he silenced me as he reached for the bottom of my sweatshirt and pulled it over my head, managing to not strangle me with the neck. A valuable skill to have in a man. One who could remove your clothes without inuring you.

  1. Unwritten certainly does sound entertaining, Lexxie. I got stuck on single-dad, honestly, so that there is so much more goodness, like a library and good humor…well, this one is going on my tbr for sure. I’ve yet to read anything from Cameron but I own a few. Perhaps I can knock a few off my pile this summer with COYER? I’m glad you enjoyed Unwritten so much.
