Does being nobody's fool mean that you're nobody's love?

Colleen O'Rourke is in love with love... just not when it comes to herself. Most nights, she can be found behind the bar at the Manningsport, New York, tavern she owns with her twin brother, doling out romantic advice to the lovelorn, mixing martinis and staying more or less happily single. See, ten years ago, Lucas Campbell, her first love, broke her heart... an experience Colleen doesn't want to have again, thanks. Since then, she's been happy with a fling here and there, some elite-level flirting and playing matchmaker to her friends.

But a family emergency has brought Lucas back to town, handsome as ever and still the only man who's ever been able to crack her defenses. Seems like maybe they've got some unfinished business waiting for them—but to find out, Colleen has to let her guard down, or risk losing a second chance with the only man she's ever loved

My Waiting On You Reivew:

Waiting On You is a contemporary romance in which the heroine meets her first love again, but this time, she will be careful with her heart so it won’t be broken once more. Colleen is the town’s match-maker, and she is very good at it. However, she really would like to match someone awesome up for herself for a change. She knows she would like to get married, have children, get on with her life. However, she is still stuck on Lucas, even after he left her, married someone else and never came back again.

Colleen and her brother share a house, and they own a bar together. Helping their mom deal with her divorce that happened years ago, and also having to interact with their trophy step-mom and their adorable step-sister, they both have a lot on their plate. Waiting On You shows that family and friendship is important to both of them, but it still doesn’t really seem to be enough. Humor is ever-present in Waiting On You, and the romantic tension is very well done, too.

Third in the Bue Heron series, Waiting On You can be read as a stand-alone, I had no trouble following the characters, the story or the dynamics of the little village. It did leave me with a nice sense of satisfaction, though, and I can’t wait to read the first two books in the series. Perfect for a summer-read, with characters that are well fleshed out, complicated relationships and a lot of hope and love, Waiting On You certainly hit the right spot!

Written in third person past tense, Waiting On You lets the readers get to know the main characters very well, and understanding what makes Colleen and Lucas click, and why he made the choices he made in the past made me think even more of him.

Some of my favorite quotes:

But Lucas wouldn’t trade places, that was for sure. Home always seemed a little nicer after those visits. Careworn instead of shabby, washed in the light of relief that they had each other, at least. Until Dad was arrested.

He was right. The second his lips touched hers, a word came into his head, a word from long ago when his mother was still alive, when JSpanish was still spoken at home. Mia. Mine. Colleen was his.

Oh, wow. Wow. He wore carpenter shorts and work boots and a white T-shirt that made his skin seem darker. Blue-collar mand and his big, strong… um… hammer. Wasn’t there a porno about this? There should be. Someone should make one. Now.
