Love at Stake is my favorite series, and Wild About You lived up to my expectations. The mystery that went on from Wanted Undead or Alive was well done, and I was a happy reader indeed.
Howard was actually missing at the beginning of the story, he was in Alaska, wreaking havoc in Brett’s life. Shanna was playing match-makers when she found out that Howard was secretly pining for TV star Elsa Bjornberg, and decided to try to get her home improvement show to refurbish her and Roman’s house close to the school.
We got the back story for Brett’s and Howard’s mutual hatred, and on top of that, we got Howard’s family story, with a myth to boot. Soon, the readers were privy to the fact that Elsa’s family had a family myth as well, closely linked to Howard’s…
The romance between Howard and Elsa was very slow, and I really, really liked that. Sometimes, in PNR novels, there is this insta-love, and sometimes it needs to be quick for the story to move forward, but this slow build-up was great.. Having Howard actually court Elsa, and the seduction he worked hard on was very gratifying.
There was one little thing that bugged me, though, even if it took nothing away from my overall impression of the story, plot and character development. When the alliteration of Howard’s name was used for the nth time, I wished it was gone all together. Humble Howard, Hunky Howard, Hot Howard would have been OK once or twice, but it went a little overboard in my opinion.
She forced her gaze to wander around the small restaurant, anything to keep from looking at him. he had dressed nicely. Khaki trousers and a crisp dress shirt. No tie. Not that she was noticing.
Elsa trying to not fall in love with Howard was very cute to read about. She wanted him, but wasn’t sure she could or should trust him. Her aunts thought otherwise, as there had been some problem with the female line of her family for a very long time… I also loved how Elsa dealt with it when she realized that there is more to people than meet the eye on occasion. She didn’t even bat her eyes when she found out about vampires, and she believed that shifters existed as well.
Very satisfying read! If you’re a fan of this series, you will love it, I’m sure. And if you’ve never read and Love at Stake books yet, there are already 13 that are just waiting for you.

Is this a series that you have to read them all in order or are they all about different people and plotlines? I was looking up the series and just realized that I have the very first book in my ebook TBR list..lol. This one looks good.
I think you could read this out of order, but there are some plot lines that span over a few books. Each book features one main character, and the other characters that are already in the series are the supporting cast 🙂 The very first one got me hooked! Start with that and let me know what you think 🙂
