OctobeRec Fest Review #1 ~ Betwixt ~ Darynda Jones

OctobeRec Fest Review #1 ~ Betwixt ~ Darynda Jones

Here’s my first review for OctobeRec Fest. Thanks to Robyn for the recommendation and gift of a great book! 😉 And the perfect beer pairing? Samuel Adams’ Jack-O! Omigosh do I love this beer! Pumpkin with the perfect amount of pumpkin spice. If you like pumpkin AND beer, give this one a try. And pick up Betwixt too! 🙂 Betwixt is an excellent introduction to DJones’ Betwixt & Between series. I was immediately drawn into the story as the characters, especially Defiance (is there a better name for a witch?!?), are so engaging. Then there’s the setting – an old home in Salem, Massachusetts. It all adds up to a witchy good time! Highlights: Characters Dephne (Defiance) is a character […]

Review: Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet – Darynda Jones

Review: Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet – Darynda Jones

Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet brought more insight to Charley and what she is capable of, and it also shed more light on everything else that is going on with the reaper, the ghosts, and the people surrounding her. I loved the case Charley had to work on in Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet, because she really had to use all of her wits to figure out what was going on, and she definitely got it before I did! Cookie is such a great side-character and best friend, she is always there for Charley, even when Charley only wants to spend her hard-earned money on buying stuff she sees on late-night infomercials and not leave her apartment if at all […]

Review: Third Grave Dead Ahead – Darynda Jones

Review: Third Grave Dead Ahead – Darynda Jones

I really enjoy how this series is progressing, Third Grave Dead Ahead moved forward with the main plot at a nice pace, and the secondary plotlines were at break-neck speed. I always enjoy a healthy dose of Charley, and of course, Reyes and Cookie, too! In Third Grave Dead Ahead, there was a lot going on, both in the overall story arc, with Charley needing to understand exactly what she is, and all she can do. A missing person she needs to find, as well as getting in and out of the asylum now that there is a biker club in residence. One of the things that always strikes me when I read a Charley Davidson story is the strong […]

Review: First Grave on the Right – Darynda Jones

Review: First Grave on the Right – Darynda Jones

First Grave on the Right is filled with amazing snark! I loved Charley’s sarcastic humor, and of course, her skills when it came to seeing and talking to ghosts were great, too. The overall story and plot were well done, and I think I’ve found a new heroine I’ll love. My First Grave on the Right review: I have been wanting to start the Charley Davidson for a long time, and I was lucky enough to receive First Grave on the Right, and the second book in the series as well from my secret Santa, Sharon @ Sharon’s Booknook. As I said in my little tag-line, I loved the snark, and I also really enjoyed the universe in this story. […]
