Built was a very emotional story, and my heart broke for Sayer more than once. Zeb was there to pick up the pieces and help her build a new one, though. Built definitely got to me, because Zeb and Sayer – while seemingly so different from each other – were very similar when it came to the truly important things in their lives. Sayer, holding on to control of every aspect of her life tried her best to resist, but Zeb was too persistent. Zeb was also reliable, strong and loyal and so very lovable. Leveled has me questioning why I haven’t read a Crownover series before now! I was enchanted, and she now has a new fan! Lando and Dom were both characters that made me feel, and their development through this story was truly well done. I read Leveled as part of my Can You Read a Series in a Month challenge, and I have read all the Saints of Denver series in June. Review: Better When He’s Bad – Jay Crownover

Better When He’s Bad is dark and gritty, and while Bax and Dovie grew up in similar situations, one has managed to hold on to hope and loyalty, while the other thinks a life of crime is the only way to go. There were many things I really enjoyed in Better When He’s Bad, and both of the main characters were among those things. Dovie was so much stronger than she looked, she had been through a lot, but she held on to her inner goodness, and was not shy about sharing her hopes.
