Review: Wicked Choice – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Wicked Choice – Sawyer Bennett

Wicked Choice is much more than an erotic romance, there are some important choices the characters have to make. And there is an important theme about how women are often judged much more harshly than men for their choices. Story: Wicked Choice does partly evolve inside the Wicked Horse, but it’s not the most important place or theme of the story. Rachel’s unplanned pregnancy, and the fears she feels about that is the focal point of the story, and I found the way this unfolded to be very realistic. Not all women can imagine being a mother, and that is all fine and good. Rachel kind of did want to be a mother, though, but she was afraid of all […]

Review: Van – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Van – Sawyer Bennett

Van sure had a troubled past that managed to make his present kind of murky as well. But Simone – she was really something, and totally open to tear his walls apart, while also grabbing him out of his shell. Story: These two characters were like water and oil at first, and then, suddenly bam! they were rather like dynamite. Both Van and Simone were strong minded, and they knew what they wanted, or didn’t want as it were. Simone wanted to get to know Van better… much, much better. And he was good with keeping her and everyone else at arm’s length. Little by little, both Simone and Van shed their public persona and shared some of their secrets. […]

Review: Lucas – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Lucas – Sawyer Bennett

Lucas’ story was a bit frustrating at times, both because Stephanie was so closed off, and because it stopped rather abruptly – only to go straight to a kind of epilogue including Van rather than either Lucas or Stephanie. Story: Lucas was a story I had really looked forward to, so it might be that my expectations were a bit high. Cold Fury Hockey is one of my favorite series, and Bennett usually manages to sweep me off my feet immediately. The romance here was quite unconventional, because the two protagonists met at a party and agreed to a no strings hot night of sex. Which was all good and fun until there was a condom malfunction. Stephanie grew up […]

Review: Jilted – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Jilted – Sawyer Bennett

Jilted was a feel-good romance, second-chance-at love story that had lots of obstacles in the way for the two main characters. Bennett really has a way to reign in her readers, and that’s exactly what happened when I started reading Jilted! Both Eden and Coop were great characters, which made understanding where Coop was coming from in the beginning a bit easier to deal with. And everyone who has ever chatte books with me know that second chance at love is one of my all time favorite tropes! Eden and Coop had both been through their personal hell, but meeting up again didn’t exactly make things any easier for either of them. Jilted starts with Eden finding out that her […]

Blogtour Review: Sex in the Sticks – Sawyer Bennett

Blogtour Review: Sex in the Sticks – Sawyer Bennett

Welcome to my stop on the Blogtour for Sex in the Sticks! Sex in the Sticks is funny, very hot and with cute characters. There were several hilarious moments in Sex in the Sticks, and there were even more extremely hot moments… I found the overall story to be cute, albeit a little bit cliché with the woman from the big city going to the Alaska wilderness to find a man who wasn’t metrosexual with a better manucure than her. Valentine and her blog made me laugh out loud more than once, especially because she had partly started her sex-blog to shock her family. Sex in the Sticks started out a bit tentative, as Val left her big city behind, […]

Review: Roman – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Roman – Sawyer Bennett

Roman showed a different aspect of the hockey club as well as the difficulty to live in that world, especially when the characters wanted to keep some private moments… private. I feel like I always say something about my big love for hockey players when I review a Cold Fury book, but it’s true! Roman made my toes curl in many ways. Of course the fact that he’s a bad boy didn’t make me blink even once. I’m not usually one for enforcers when it comes to hockey. They break up the game, and I think here in Europe, hockey is different from the way it’s played in the US. One thing I really enjoyed with Roman was that we got […]

Review: Finding Kyle – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Finding Kyle – Sawyer Bennett

From the start of Finding Kyle, I had that awful feeling in my stomach, you know, when you know something is wrong? Just kind of waiting for that bad thing to happen… that, coupled with the tension and sexual chemistry between Kyle and his neighbor, Jane, made for a very good read! Finding Kyle had a lot of suspense, but it was a very quiet sort of suspense that came with the aftermath of Kyle having been an undercover cop in a very bad motorcycle gang. And where he, himself, had done a lot of very ugly things in order to be accepted into the inner sanctuary of the club in order to bring them all down. And dealing with […]

Review: Max – Saywer Bennett

Review: Max – Saywer Bennett

Max is hands down the most swoony of the hockey players in Cold Fury Hockey, like a knight in shining armour, but with a wicked humor. I think Max wins the book boyfriend of the year prize for 2016 (as I read this last year). He was so amazing, he met a woman he found intriguing, and wasn’t scared by the fact that she was raising three young children on her own – having two jobs to make ends meet. Julianne was definitely worth waiting for, though, and while it took him a while to woo her, it was all so very sweet! Bennett always writes her heroes both alpha males and sensitive and sensible. I think it’s that mix […]

Review: Wicked Bond – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Wicked Bond – Sawyer Bennett

Wicked Bond is (finally) Bridger’s story – and man, he’s had a tough life! But then again, most of the characters in this series have a dark, dark past, but still cannot help but hope for a bright future. Bridger’s backstory might be the darkest and most difficult to read about in the whole series! Wicked Bond showed how he was bound – to his past and the abuse he had suffered. How that colored so many of his decisions and relationships in the present. Maggie’s story was bleak as well, especially with how she arrived at Bridger’s doorstep and the fight she still had in front of her at that moment. For Bridger to feel something real about a […]

Review: Wicked Ride – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Wicked Ride – Sawyer Bennett

Wicked Ride has the hotness the other Wicked Horse stories are built on, there is also some suspense, and of course, the Silo. As seen in the summary, Logan, one of the fantasy-makers at the Silo has a very strong longing when it comes to Auralie, the young woman whose virginity is for sale. Wicked Ride centers about the forbidden relationship between the two of them – stolen moments, heated exchanges only with looks across a crowded room. That part worked very well for me – however, I thought there were several things going on that could only happen because some of the characters really behaved out of character. Like, Auralie arrives at the club with Magnus, an older man, […]
