Review: What it Takes – Shannon Stacey

What it Takes is a very back throw-back to the whole Kowalski series, and it was nice to see how all the cousins are holding up after all this time, while also meeting a brand-new couple on the camping ground. Laney really needed a change after living in a love-less marriage for ten years during which she had lost herself. What it Takes was mostly about her finding herself again, understanding her own wants and needs. Laney thought she needed to be on her own to figure out what to do with the rest of her life, and when she first met Ben, she was doing her very best to ignore the strong chemistry between them. As always, Stacey brings people […]

Review: Homecoming – Shannon Stacey

Review: Homecoming – Shannon Stacey

Homecoming is more than a romance, it’s about finding yourself when you thought you were lost forever… Both Sam and Jen were a little lost and needed direction, and the fact that both of them had best friends who were engaged to the other’s best friends made working together more than a little awkward. Especially because they knew just how much chemistry they had when they let go. Homecoming was tender and sweet, and it made me want it all for Jen and Sam, with all their baggage and the way they saw their future, it would be a rocky road, for sure. One of the things I loved about Homecoming was the theme of forgiveness. Forgiving oneself, and forgiving […]

Review: Fully Ignited – Shannon Stacey

Review: Fully Ignited – Shannon Stacey

Fully Ignited was hot, tender, a bit complicated and very sweet. One of the things I loved the most in Fully Ignited was the innuendos made with food… And I got at least two great quotes for future Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts posts thanks to the sexiness of those. Both Jamie and Scott were great characters to follow in their adventures as firefighters, and it was refreshing to see a female LT, who was strong, confident and very competent. Neither of them wanted a romance at the workplace, though, but their attraction proved impossible for them to resist. However, Jamie’s job with Scott’s company was temporary, and so would their forbidden romance be. I also really enjoyed that Fully […]

Review: A Fighting Chance – Shannon Stacey

Review: A Fighting Chance – Shannon Stacey

A Fighting Chance is a very sweet, and hot, second-chance-at love romance, and I really enjoy the characters as well as their journey. I found the ending to be a little cheesy, though, and would have liked to spend a little bit more time with Del and Brendan. I loved how self-assured and sassy Del was from the beginning of Fighting Chance! She’s at a casino hotel, where she’s arrived before her girlfriends for a weekend of fun before her friend gets married. As she explores the hotel, she sees that there are MMA fights during the weekend, and she comes face to face with a huge poster of her ex-boyfriend, Brendan, and even in a photo, he affects her […]

Review: Controlled Burn – Shannon Stacey

Review: Controlled Burn – Shannon Stacey

Both Jess and Rick were strong characters, with the odds stacked against them, thus making Controlled Burn both beautiful and a little melancholy. My Controlled Burn review: Controlled Burn starts with Jess going to Boston for the first time, to meet her grandparents for the first time after her grandfather had a slightly bad fall, and Jess’s father was unavailable to do anything for them. Because Rick had been her grandparents’ tenant for the past few years, they were like family, and Rick was quite suspicious of Jess’s motivations for showing up now that her grandparents might have to sell their house and move into a senior citizen community to take better care of themselves. Of course, the fact that […]

Review: Her Holiday Man – Shannon Stacey

Review: Her Holiday Man – Shannon Stacey

Her Holiday Man is a bittersweet holiday romance, where the two main characters are both holding back for fear of being hurt once more. My Her Holiday Man review: When Will decided to move back home, he hadn’t thought for one second he would have to share his newly widowed mother with the beautiful woman living across the street as well as her son. At first, he was extremely suspicious of Christina, was she trying to take advantage of his mom in any way? Or was she just a lonely woman having found a friend? It didn’t take long before Will was looking forward to seeing both Nathaniel and Christina, though. But he was not at all ready to open […]

Review: Falling for Max – Shannon Stacey

Review: Falling for Max – Shannon Stacey

*I received a free ARC of Falling for Max from Carina Press via Netgalley in exchange of an honest review* The romance in Falling for Max is building so slowly, and it is truly adorable. I feel so good right now after finishing reading this story, it’s amazing! My Falling for Max review: Max has always been in the background in the other Kowalski Family stories, and he let the good people of Whitford come up with the reasons why – him being a serial killer was high up on the list. He wanted more in life in this story, though, and when he went to the diner to be more social, the first person he met was Tori who […]

Taken with You (The Kowalskis #8) – Shannon Stacey

Taken with You (The Kowalskis #8) – Shannon Stacey

*I received a free ARC of Taken with You from Carina Press via Netgalley in exchange of an honest review* Taken with You is set in Whitford, like other Kowalski books, but this time, those hunky and hard-bodied Kowalski boys aren’t among the main characters. Matt is an awesome male lead, though, even if he does jump to conclusions a little quickly sometimes, and Hailey really needed some hot romance in her life. She’s lived in Whitfield for most of her life, and she would love to stay, but there are no interesting men there. Also, she really wants to have a family, and she can practically hear her own biological clock ticking away. There is a lot of humor […]

Review: Snowbound with the CEO – Shannon Stacey

Review: Snowbound with the CEO – Shannon Stacey

*I received a free ARC of Snowbound with the CEO from Carina Press via Netgalley in exchange of an honest review* Snowbound with the CEO is a short but sweet romance, set between the CEO and his executive assistant. They have been lusting for each other for a long time, but neither of them wants to make a go for it, afraid things will become awkward at work if they do. Then, they are in New Hampshire for a very important meeting, but the meeting never happens. Because of the heavy snowfall, the client is stuck in Boston, an Adrian and Rachel are stuck in New Hampshire – all alone, with not much to do, apart from maybe acting out […]

Review: All He Ever Dreamed (The Kowalskis #6) – Shannon Stacey

*I received a free ARC of All He Ever Dreamed from Carina Press via Netgalley in exchange of an honest review* All He Ever Dreamed is the story about Josh, the youngest Kowalski brother, and Katie who grew up with them – and who is practically one of the guys. She hangs out with the guys during ball games, and is just as good at shouting at the TV as they are. She is the town’s barber, and the one who usually cuts Josh’s hair. When Katie’s mom is sick, and conspiring to get Josh and Katie together, it is decided that Katie should stay a while at the lodge – and that’s when the sparks start flying – even […]
