Review: The Summer Deal – Jill Shalvis

Review: The Summer Deal – Jill Shalvis

The Summer Deal is a beautifully written romance where regret is one of the themes, and forgiveness is another one. The Summer Deal showed me once more why I’m such a fan of Shalvis’ writing! The characters made the story here, and the way they all had their difficulties to deal with made them very realistic. From the outside, other people’s lives can seem so simple and put together, but once we get a peek behind the scenes, we realize that’s not the case at all. Brynn had a good childhood in many ways, however, she had hidden certain things from her mothers in order to protect them. Never letting them know how difficult camp was, or how some kids […]

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ After the Climb ~ Kristen Ashley

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ After the Climb ~ Kristen Ashley

You know my feelings about second chance romance, wifey, so I’m sure it’s not a surprise that I adored After the Climb. But, then, it’s KA and she had a little help from friends 😉 in writing this one. Oh! And that it released on my birthday? Sweet!! Hmm… are you one of the friends who helped out with this one?  And you know I love second chance romance at least as much as you do! Plus, KA always makes all the feels come out 🙂    Okay, so that beginning was a doozy! I don’t know if I’ve ever disliked, dare I say hated, a character as much as I do Corey. I can’t imagine the myriad emotions that […]

Review: Wicked Secret – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Wicked Secret – Sawyer Bennett

Wicked Secret is part of my favorite sub-genre – it’s erotic suspense, and both the hotness and the tense parts were so well done! As always, Bennett totally made my day with her story! Wicked Secret is part of the Wicked Horse series, and it also ties in with her Jameson Force Security series. This story can still be read as a stand alone, though. And I have to say few people can write an erotica with so much character development, Bennett is one of them, and I love her for it! Wicked Secret is both a second chance at love, and almost an enemies to lovers story. August is extremely angry with Leighton, and it takes him quite a […]

Review: Rafe – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Rafe – Sawyer Bennett

Rafe and Calliope were amazing! They had history, and now, a second chance at love. However, with that second chance came a lot of turmoil, too. Mostly because Rafe’s reason for coming home was to be with his dying father. Rafe was a great addition to my two favorite hockey series! He had the worst reason ever to go back home, but luckily for him, there weren’t only bad things waiting for him. I loved Calliope, and how understanding she was, especially towards Rafe’s parents. I also really enjoyed how she made Rafe work for her time. Because she deserved only the best, and that’s not what he had given her in the past. Rafe can be read as a […]

Audio Review ~ P.S. It’s Always Been You: Part 1 ~ Lauren Blakely #AudibleOriginal

Audio Review ~ P.S. It’s Always Been You: Part 1 ~ Lauren Blakely #AudibleOriginal

P.S. It’s Always Been You Part 1 is the first third of a novel by LBlakely and released as an Audible Original. It nicely set up the backstory between Presley and Hunter as well as their present circumstances and what has brought them together again. I love the premise of this story and I’m a sucker for second chance romance. I’m pulling hard for these two even if Hunter did a sound job of breaking Presley’s heart years ago. There’s still crackling chemistry between them and I’m eager to see how things develop as they work in such close proximity. See, Presley is an art historian and Hunter is best described as a thrill seeker. Together they’re working on cataloging […]

Buddy Read Chat Review w/Berls ~ Mine to Take ~ Cynthia Eden #COYER

Buddy Read Chat Review w/Berls ~ Mine to Take ~ Cynthia Eden #COYER

We both were hooked at the prologue. It was the last few sentences that did it for me. Having finished, I’m still curious about who the speaker was. What hooked you? And if it was the same thing, are you still curious as well? Ditto! It hooked me and quite literally gave me chills. Even now, rereading it, I get chills because, yeah, I don’t know who it is!!! And I want to know why she clearly didn’t remember that moment (if she had, there would be no mystery… Or a different one) and will she in a future book? Do you think CEden left it deliberately unresolved?  I hadn’t thought about her leaving it unresolved on purpose. That’s totally […]

Review ~ Soaring ~ Kristen Ashley

Review ~ Soaring ~ Kristen Ashley

Kristen Ashley never disappoints me and Soaring was no different. This story had it all…engaging characters (even the kids!), character growth, realistic family issues…and I loved it all. Highlights: Seasoned Characters I have to admit to loving the fact that KA writes seasoned characters. Both Amelia and Mickey are closing in on 50 and I like experiencing life with and through characters that have lived as much life as I have. Second Chance Romance If you haven’t yet figured out that I’m a sucker for this trope, you will. Yep, I’m a sucker for it. I adore that Amelia and Mickey have lived the lives they’ve lived, lost at love, but are growing, changing, and getting a second chance at […]

Review ~ A Lie for a Lie ~ Helena Hunting #COYER

Review ~ A Lie for a Lie ~ Helena Hunting #COYER

HHunting has become an author I can count on to deliver compelling characters and stories, and A Lie for a Lie didn’t disappoint. It was a wonderful feel-good, second chance romance. Lainey and RJ had me giggle-snorting over their meeting. Their romance quickly advanced to something much deeper and meaningful though. Sure they had chemistry that was palpable but in each other they found someone who accepted and appreciated them for who they were. If only RJ had been completely honest about himself from the beginning…before it was too late. Fate seemed determined about these two and they managed to find one another again. But when all secrets are revealed, will their second chance blossom or wither? I adored Lainey […]

Review: Code Name Heist – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Code Name Heist – Sawyer Bennett

Code Name Heist brought me the heist of the century, a hot second chance at love, suspense, and a troubled past. Code Name Heist is Saint’s story, but it’s also Sin’s story. There is also a parallel story arc that made my heart ache, and that brought tears to my eyes. Several characters from prior Jameson Force Security were present as well, which made me feel like I knew what I got myself into when I started reading. Saint used to be a professional thief of high-end art and jewels. After being in jail for two years he decided to go legit, only for his first solo job with Jameson to be going back to his thieving ways. Code Name […]

New Release Review & #Giveaway ~ Regretting You ~ Colleen Hoover

New Release Review & #Giveaway ~ Regretting You ~ Colleen Hoover

CHoover typically leaves me wanting to shout non-sensical exclamations in celebration of her immense storytelling abilities. Regretting You was no different. The story was deeply emotional and the characters so well defined. More than a week later and it’s still affecting me. CHoover did a phenomenal job at creating these characters. She doled out information in little bits at a time so that I understood and/or related to Morgan and Clara. As a mom of 3 college-aged kids, I could relate to all that Morgan was experiencing with parenting – the self-doubt, the frustration and anxiety, as well as the pride in her daughter. However, CHoover structured this story in a way that teens will also identify with. Clara, at almost 17, […]
