Review: One Moment Please – Amy Daws

Review: One Moment Please – Amy Daws

One Moment Please is a humorous, hot, sweet romantic comedy, with so many charcuterie boards, and quite a bit of fun, with some darker moments. I absolutely adored One Moment Please! Lynsey was exactly my kind of heroine, she was driven, self-sufficient, resilient, smart, funny, and a charcuterie-board expert! Of course, she wasn’t perfect, but she just spoke to me on a very deep level. Her friends also totally agree with me 🙂 Josh – or Dr. Dick as Lynsey got to calling him – was an enigma at first. He was grumpy, and borderline assholey. But there was still something about him that not only drew the eye (hello good looking!), there was more than that. One Moment Please […]

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ The Right Wish ~ Michelle Mankin @MichelleMankin

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ The Right Wish ~ Michelle Mankin @MichelleMankin

The second installment in this series, The Right Wish was even more emotional and impactful than its predecessor. Witnessing all Camaro is and how much she gives to others, it was more than a little moving to see Brad work at convincing her she was worthy of love…his love. *swoon* I agree! Cam was such a heartfelt heroine. And she truly did believe her late mother’s words about giving joy to others was the greatest joy of all. She was so good with everyone she came in contact with.   Man, I can’t imagine having to live life as Cam had. Lying about who she was, living in shelters, selling her body… it was no wonder her self-esteem was in […]

Audio Review ~ Kiss of a Demon King ~ Kresley Cole

Audio Review ~ Kiss of a Demon King ~ Kresley Cole

It’d been awhile since I visited the Immortals After Dark series and I’m so happy I kicked off my 2020 audio year with Kiss of a Demon King. While Kiss of a Demon King wasn’t as action-packed as other installments, I did enjoy seeing Rydstrom find and fight for his fated female. And Sabine was an absolute delight! Much of their repartee was quite comedic. Visiting with others from the Lore was a bonus. Highlights: Characters Rydstrom has spent centuries waiting for his fated one as well as the return of his kingdom. He’s know for being steady and good, so being straddled with Sabine as his female understandably gives him pause. Sabine is the Queen of Illusions, a sorceri allied with […]

Review ~ Where the Crawdads Sing ~ Delia Owens #UnearthingaBookishBounty

Review ~ Where the Crawdads Sing ~ Delia Owens #UnearthingaBookishBounty

Where the Crawdads Sing was a marvel. I really have no words. I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to do this story justice in a review but here’s my first attempt: Where the Crawdads Sing is beautiful, lyrical, emotional, thought-provoking, eloquent, and…just, amazing! A true gem! Kya is a young girl – a little girl – living in a shack in the swamp in 1950’s North Carolina. She’s abandoned by her family, one by one, and the marsh adopts her. This story, her story, is about how capable and resilient Kya is, raising herself with a little help from Mother Nature. Or maybe Mother Earth. She also has some help from a “colored couple.” It’s about loneliness and its effects […]

Review: Love Hard – Nalini Singh

Review: Love Hard – Nalini Singh

Love Hard is a beautiful, heartfelt story where Jules and Jake meet after several years. Their past animosity is at the fore-front, however, their undeniable chemistry can’t be ignored. As always, Singh’s writing speaks directly to my heart. Love Hard had all the ingredients for a fantastic romance. Jake and Jules were not friends in high-school. They barely tolerated each other, and made do with barbs and teasing, just to show Callie that they might do an effort for her. When they meet again, the chemistry between them takes them both by surprise. And they also do their very best to ignore it. Because he’s a single father, Jake is not a typical, famous rugby-player. He’s very private, and he […]

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ Creeping Beautiful ~ JA Huss

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ Creeping Beautiful ~ JA Huss

Creeping Beautiful is Huss at her best!! Mystery wrapped in conspiracy wrapped in romance revolving around unreliable narrators, this was a multi-layered story told from multiple POVs and it was pure greatness. I can’t wait for the next installment! Oh you rounded that one up real nice, wifey! It was definitely greatness, and I loved how unreliable the narrators were. That just made all the twisty turns even better.   It was rather exciting to immerse myself in the world of The Company again. I wish I had thought to keep a notebook on The Company from the beginning, including all my thoughts and theories on things. But I digress…. Starting off with the auction, we see an entirely new facet […]

Review: Wild at Heart – K.A. Tucker

Review: Wild at Heart – K.A. Tucker

Wild at Heart is one of those sequels when you are amazed from start to finish – because it’s even better than the first book, and your heart is full. The character development in Wild at Heart is astounding. Both Calla and Jonah grow so much, and while I already loved them before, the way they grew made me love them even more! Moving is never easy, and they both ended up moving to make their own home in a new place. In some ways, I felt that the move was easier on Jonah, because he was still a pilot. Calla had no idea what she wanted to do, and so she did what she could to make sure Jonah […]

Review ~ American Royals ~ Katharine McGee #UnearthingaBookishBounty #COYER

Review ~ American Royals ~ Katharine McGee #UnearthingaBookishBounty #COYER

American Royals answers the question: What if George Washington has agreed to be King of America? An interesting premise, right? It certainly grabbed my attention and I was pleased with KMcGee’s execution of it. American Royals is told from four POVs. That of the Crown Princess, Beatrice, her younger sister, Princess Samantha, Sam’s best friend, Nina, and Prince Jefferson’s ex-girlfriend, Daphne. Through these POVs, we get a great understanding of American royal life. Beatrice shows up what it’s like to have been groomed your entire life to be the next monarch, never getting to make her own decisions. She’s going to be facing adversity as America’s first Queen and she’s struggling with what she’ll have to give up. Samantha demonstrates […]

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ Captive Prince ~ C.S. Pacat #UnearthingaBookishBounty

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ Captive Prince ~ C.S. Pacat #UnearthingaBookishBounty

Wow! Captive Prince began intensely and maintained that intensity throughout. It was a challenge to put it down. The court politics, the intrigue, the betrayals, and the, ahem, interesting behaviors in the Veretian palace kept me flipping through the pages. This story is so well done, I think it’s safe to assume I’ll be completing this trilogy sooner than later. I agree with everything you said, Brandee! It was extremely intense, and that was awesome. I couldn’t put the book down all day – I just had to continue to read. Everything was intriguing, and that made me truly happy while reading.   Captive Prince started with what I believe would be considered an ultimate betrayal. A Prince being taken […]

Review ~ Passions of a Papillon ~ Tara Lain #NR2020 @taralain

Review ~ Passions of a Papillon ~ Tara Lain #NR2020 @taralain

I adored Passions of a Papillon ! It has great characters, character growth, romance, suspense, AND it made me want a dog! A papillon specifically. 😉 I was immediately drawn into the story in large part because of a little ball of fluff. When Finn finds her – or maybe it was the other way around? – I knew Batshit was going to win over this non-dog-lover. Once Finn and Batshit meet Emerson, the vet, I knew this trio was fated. However, they had a few obstacles to negotiate before they could have their HEA. Highlights: Characters TLain proved yet again her talent at creating characters that are engaging and fully realized. Finn is a defense attorney and works hard at defending […]
