Review: Free – Kristen Ashley

Review: Free – Kristen Ashley

Oh my goodness! I just love me some Chaos, and I have to say that Rush and Rebel’s story got to me in every way. These alpha MC men, with their wild, intelligent, and fun women always get to me – but I just adored Free! Free is the last installment in the Chaos series, and it was sad to see some of my favorite characters ever for the last time. It was also a great story, though, so I was completely satisfied when I came to the end. Rush and Rebel were made for each other! She was a strong woman, and she was able to hold her own – both with Rush and with other men. Rush is […]

Review: Overnight Sensation – Sarina Bowen

Review: Overnight Sensation – Sarina Bowen

Overnight Sensation is a fantastic story, about love, loss, and taking responsibility – the characters are very relatable, and I fell in love! Bowen truly did it again with Overnight Sensation! She made me lose a little sleep – because I just had to keep on reading. Her knowledge about hockey, and what happens behind the scenes just made this story even better! Everything that has to be done in and around the rink for both games and practice. All the people who have to work to make it all happen. The way players have to deal with nosy reporters, bloggers, and fans. And how difficult it can be to just stay true to oneself when everyone appears to be […]

New Release Review ~ The Case of the Voracious Vintner ~ Tara Lain

New Release Review ~ The Case of the Voracious Vintner ~ Tara Lain

The Case of the Voracious Vintner proved TLain’s writing prowess as she delivered an entertaining cozy mystery  while also delivering on all the other elements I’ve come to expect from her M/M romances. Highlights: Main Characters Beau Marchand is the epitome of a well-bred Southern gentleman. He’s charming, loyal to family and friends, and would rather live under the misperception he’s a “confirmed bachelor who never met the right lady” than admit to his family he’s gay. That is until he meets Jeremy Aames. Beau and Jeremy met because they’re both vintners who own small wineries. Jeremy is out and proud and although he’s interested in Beau, he thinks Beau is straight. The two of them start spending time together […]

Audio Review ~ Darkhouse ~ Karina Halle

Audio Review ~ Darkhouse ~ Karina Halle

Darkhouse has been hanging around gathering dust for awhile. When my younger daughter gave it a listen, loved it, and promptly blew through the first 3 books in the Experiment in Terror series, I decided it was time I give it a listen! Highlights: Characters Perry seems like your typical 20-something, working at a job she doesn’t enjoy while trying to figure out where her life goes from here. She’s had an interesting life thus far – KHalle doles out facts throughout such as drug-use, mental health issues, weight issues – all of which have impacted who Perry is right now. Oh, and the most interesting trait of Perry’s? She can see and talk to ghosts. Dex…well, he’s an enigma. […]

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ Breaking Away ~ Toni Aleo #RAREParis

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ Breaking Away ~ Toni Aleo #RAREParis

As you may or may not know, Denise and I are traveling to Europe in late March to visit Lexxie and to attend RAREParis. In an attempt to prepare, at least for RARE, the three of us decided to buddy read books from RARE authors. This is the first of our chat reviews for this amazing list of authors! FYI – Breaking Away is currently #free!   Brandee: Breaking Away was a great introduction to the series despite it being #6 in the Nashville Assassins series. TAleo never made me feel as if I was missing something while at the same time making me curious enough about the other characters to want to go back and read from the beginning. […]

Review: Playing for Keeps – Jill Shalvis

Review: Playing for Keeps – Jill Shalvis

Playing for Keeps just might be my favorite Heartbreaker Bay story! I loved Sadie and Caleb so much. And Lollipop was the best rescue puppy ever! Playing for Keeps just worked so very well for me! Sadie and Caleb both wanted nothing to do with a relationship. And they kind of worked the best using sarcasm towards each other. Until that evening when Caleb found an abandoned, three legged dog in the courtyard. And they somehow ended up co-adopting her. Caleb had been a bit of a mystery up until now, as he was a little on the outskirt of the friend group. In Playing for Keeps, however, he showed just what kind of a man he was. He’s a […]

Review ~ 30 Days ~ K. Larsen

Review ~ 30 Days ~ K. Larsen

First of all, I didn’t realize 30 Days wasn’t a standalone so when I got near the end and things weren’t wrapping up, I was a little disappointed. But then I’m gonna get more of Elle and Colin and that’s probably a good thing. 😉 I’m hooked. The premise is good and I like the characters. There is some unevenness at times but I liked that Larsen kept me guessing. I hope to get the second, and last, book read sooner than later. The gist of the story is that Elle is hiding, having escaped a very bad situation. She’s holed up in a place where she dreamed of living, seaside, and is trying to figure out what comes next. […]

Release Day Review: Finding Alexei – Kendall Ryan

Release Day Review: Finding Alexei – Kendall Ryan

Finding Alexei reads as a modern-day fairytale, with a little bit of Pretty Woman mixed in. It’s a sweet romance, and I enjoyed getting to know Alexei and Ryleigh. Ryleigh works hard, and she works long hours – and now, she has to take care of her former room mate’s baby. Life is not good for her, and one night, leaving her work, Alexei defends her against one of the customers. The romance is rather slow burning, and I love that – especially because Alexei just wants to help. Of course, he is very rich, so it’s no difficulty for him to share his home and a little of his money with Ryleigh and the baby. However, I did find […]

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ Before We Were Strangers ~ Brenda Novak

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ Before We Were Strangers ~ Brenda Novak

Before We Were Strangers was chilling, riveting, and kept me guessing throughout. However, I had some difficulty connecting with some of the characters and the ending was a bit too tidy for me. This wasn’t my favorite from Novak but it was still a pretty good read. *sighs* I didn’t really enjoy this one – I found some aspects of it to be too similar to her Evelyn Talbot chronicles. And the romance wasn’t all that sweet or hot. Plus, I found the ending to be, as you said, too tidy, as well.   I can’t fathom going through what Sloane has been through in suspecting her father in the disappearance of her mother. Her father was definitely formidable but […]

Review: Wicked Knight – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Wicked Knight – Sawyer Bennett

Wicked Knight is the fifth book in the Wicked Horse Vegas series, and this series is still going strong. More than erotic romance, it is about dealing with the aftermath of a tough divorce as well. And also trusting another man to do right, when the one who was supposed to be everything only thought of himself. Story: I really enjoyed Wicked Knight, it was definitely hot, and had a little Cinderella / Pretty Woman feel to it. Mostly because Hannah was ready to do whatever it took to make sure her daughter would be with her, and that she would be safe being there. In the beginning, I didn’t really enjoy Asher all that much, but that changed quickly. […]
