Audio Review: The Negotiator – Avery Flynn

Audio Review: The Negotiator – Avery Flynn

The Negotiator kept me company with laughter and steam on my way to and from work. Fun, hot and feisty, it kept things light. Story: The Negotiator helped me laugh while commuting – which is not that frequent an occurrence really. I leave the house before it’s light out, and arrive very early at work to prepare things. Getting prepared with Sawyer and Clover made everything lighter. Because his mom was always setting him up with socialites, Sawyer and his brother came up with the idea to hire a buffer. One person to keep his mom – and the bridezillas to be – at arm’s length. Only, Sawyer’s brother made sure a fun woman was the most likely candidate. One […]

Review: Van – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Van – Sawyer Bennett

Van sure had a troubled past that managed to make his present kind of murky as well. But Simone – she was really something, and totally open to tear his walls apart, while also grabbing him out of his shell. Story: These two characters were like water and oil at first, and then, suddenly bam! they were rather like dynamite. Both Van and Simone were strong minded, and they knew what they wanted, or didn’t want as it were. Simone wanted to get to know Van better… much, much better. And he was good with keeping her and everyone else at arm’s length. Little by little, both Simone and Van shed their public persona and shared some of their secrets. […]

Review: Scored – Sloane Howell

Review: Scored – Sloane Howell

Scored follows a baseball star and a hot indie records store seller, they have met more than once through their best friends, and their chemistry is sizzling hot. Story: Kelsey and Matt showed up in Bossed, and I enjoyed them immensely as side characters. Somehow, I enjoyed them a little less as main characters in Scored. I think it was because both of them kept second-guessing themselves quite a bit, and while I can understand some of that, it also kind of got old. Matt really liked Kelsey from the first time he met her, but he had no idea they had even more in common than what came to light when they were out with Ethan and Jenny. Scored […]

Review: Mr. and Mrs. – JA Huss

Review: Mr. and Mrs. – JA Huss

Mr. and Mrs. is the perfect ending to the Mister series, it was fun, a little mysterious and a lot romantic. I got to see my favorite Five in his element. Story: First of all, if you have not read the whole Mister series, plus Five, you should not continue reading this review, as there will be spoilers for prior books in here. Mr. and Mrs. happened on Five’s private island, and all the misters showed up for a group wedding. We got to know what Five and Rory have been up to since the ending of Five, and I loved seeing them happy with their four daughters. They were princesses in their own right, and I had so much […]

Review: Holiday Wishes – Jill Shalvis

Review: Holiday Wishes – Jill Shalvis

Holiday Wishes was a sweet, tender novella in one of my favorite Shalvis series, and I loved to see this more mature side of Sean. Story: While Holiday Wishes is a quite short story, the feel of the Heartbreaker Bay gang is very much present. The group of friends and family are away for a weekend of bachelor and bachelorette party for Pru and Finn. All organized by Sean, to the amazement of everyone. He has planned everything down to the smallest detail. Apart from the fact that his very first girlfriend, the one he let get away, is the innkeeper. The easy banter between the characters, as well as their strong ties always makes Heartbreaker Bay the place to […]

Review: Sure Thing – Jana Aston

Review: Sure Thing – Jana Aston

Sure Thing made me laugh out loud more than once, and it also made me swoon. The mix of humour and steaminess was perfectly balanced! Story: Violet steps in for her identical twin, Daisy, for a historical tour at the tour company where she works. At the hotel bar the first evening, Violet decides to try some seducing advice on the sexy stranger across the bar. After reading about a trick of  three seconds of eye-contact, then a smile, she wants to see if it works. And boy, does it work. Soon after, she receives a new drink, and the stranger comes to sit with her. Aston is very good at romcom, she mixes humour and hotness seamlessly, and it […]

Review: Mystery Man – Kristen Ashley

Review: Mystery Man – Kristen Ashley

Mystery Man is classic KA! Very, very alpha male, lots of humour, love, suspense and squishy heart on my part… Story: There is so much going on in Mystery Man, some of it good, some of it bad, some of it ugly – all of it pretty amazing. Once I got over Hawk’s bossiness and Gwen’s waffling, I fell in love with them both. And as always, Ashley brought out the big guns when it comes to turns of phrases that made my heart turn over! Gwen’s sister was so much trouble, and she didn’t seem to care that she put her family in danger with her antics. Good thing that Gwen was on a lot of hot, alpha-men’s radar. And they […]

Review : Why Do Dukes Fall in Love – Megan Frampton

Review : Why Do Dukes Fall in Love – Megan Frampton

Why Do Dukes Fall in Love was an absolute delight. It was impossible to not fall head-first in love with Mrs. Chelsam and His Grace! They were awesome, I loved their tongue-in-cheek humor, their loyalty, their intelligence and their steamy romance! Story: A duke who hires a female secretary is unconventional to say the least, and I love unconventional historical romances. Why Do Dukes Fall in Love was a fun story, with some intrigue and suspense, and a lot of slow, hot romance. I loved that a capable woman got a chance to take care of herself and her daughter – and still have some love in her life. Characters: Edwina was a widow, left with her young daughter, and […]

Review: Bossed Sloane Howell

Review: Bossed Sloane Howell

Bossed was a fun story that still brought the feels. Baseball, snark and romance in plenty. I’m not sure why I haven’t read Sloane Howell before… I guess I was a bit surprised about a male author writing romance, and that sounds incredibly sexist, right? Bossed was really well done, though. And even if I’m not usually a fan of office romances, it definitely hit the right spot! I think it’s partly because Jenny didn’t take what Ethan was dishing. And she was so snarky it was impossible to not fall in love with her. Ethan acted like the big bad wolf at times, but Jenny knew her baseball and called him on it. Every time. Bossed is a quite […]

Review: Jilted – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Jilted – Sawyer Bennett

Jilted was a feel-good romance, second-chance-at love story that had lots of obstacles in the way for the two main characters. Bennett really has a way to reign in her readers, and that’s exactly what happened when I started reading Jilted! Both Eden and Coop were great characters, which made understanding where Coop was coming from in the beginning a bit easier to deal with. And everyone who has ever chatte books with me know that second chance at love is one of my all time favorite tropes! Eden and Coop had both been through their personal hell, but meeting up again didn’t exactly make things any easier for either of them. Jilted starts with Eden finding out that her […]
