#Review: Passion Rising – J.A. Huss and Johnathan McClain

Passion Rising ends the Original Sin series with a bang! And I felt like I got to know the main characters so much better here. Story: For a while in the beginning of Passion Rising, things were going slow – the aftermath of Flesh Into Fire could still be felt. However, Maddie and Tyler finally had room and time to breathe. To slow down. To get to know each other better. They were also able to heal – both physically and emotionally – which is something they both needed. Seeing Maddie and Tyler doing more ‘normal’ stuff made me love them more. And it also helped me get to know them much better. Passion Rising had a lot of passion, […]

Review: The Study of Seduction – Sabrina Jeffries

Review: The Study of Seduction – Sabrina Jeffries

The Study of Seduction is filled with romance – albeit quite reluctant on both the male and the female part – danger, delight, despair, and heartfelt love. Story: Jeffries really has a knack for creating relatable characters, a bit unconventional, and able to reel the readers in. The Study of Seduction definitely reeled me in! I love friends to lovers stories, and that is what I got here. Edwin and Clarissa have known each other for as long as they can remember. And so, when Warren needs to leave England – but thinks it’s too dangerous to leave Clarissa open to the advances of a French suitor – he asks Edwin to look out for her. The Study of Seduction […]

Audioreview: Hounded – Kevin Hearne

Audioreview: Hounded – Kevin Hearne

Hounded was a fantastic story, with really well done mythology, character development, action, and plot! Story: I did a buddy listen of Hounded with Carole @ Carole’s Random Life. We both agreed that Oberon was our favorite character. The overall story really appealed to me, because it had a druid main character, Atticus. And, as I said to Carole at one point, it was refreshing to have a male protagonist in adult Urban Fantasy. I know there are others, but it’s been a while since I’ve read or listened to one. Hounded starts off with showing the readers what this universe is like, there are gods – from all pantheons – fae, vampires, shifters, witches, and of course out druid. […]

Review: The Pleasure of Panic – J.A. Huss

Review: The Pleasure of Panic – J.A. Huss

The Pleasure of Panic was a wild, twisted ride in which it was close to impossible to figure out what was real and what was not! Story: At the beginning of The Pleasure of Panic, I got so incredibly angry at Jordan on Issy’s behalf! He really acted like an arse, because she didn’t really want to play the game with him. But when she finally dared to tell him what she might want – if she decided to play – he told her that wouldn’t do, and that there would be no game for her. From there on, The Pleasure of Panic was an incredibly fast-paced, action-filled adventure. And I have to say that trust is what was the […]

Review: Murder Notes – Lisa Renee Jones

Review: Murder Notes – Lisa Renee Jones

Murder Notes is a fast-paced, action-filled suspense / mystery / romance with a kick-ass heroine, and a lot of men who think they know better. Story: Murder Notes starts with a nightmare from Lilah’s past, only to propel both her and the reader to the present. With several execution-style murders. The dead do not appear to have anything in common – maybe apart from the fact that Lilah is the one who profiles their cases. In order to dig deeper, Lilah has to go to the one place she has no inclination of visiting again. Home in the Hamptons. To her father, her brother, and other people she really does not want to see. Both the mystery and the suspense […]

Review: Angels Fall – J.A. Huss and Johnathan McClain

Review: Angels Fall – J.A. Huss and Johnathan McClain

Angels Fall didn’t captivate me the same way Sin With Me did. I felt quite detached from the characters, even if the writing was really good. Story: Angels Fall follows the action straight after Sin With Me. And I kind of feel like not much happened – even if it did. At the beginning of the story, Maddie was not where she wanted to be, but she had a plan about how to extricate herself. At least for the short term. Tyler was very much the same, even if Angels Fall, he was a bit more reasonable. He thought about other people than himself. He figured out that there were, indeed, people who cared about him. And he didn’t stop […]

Review: Five Fights – Belle Brooks

Review: Five Fights – Belle Brooks

Five Fights is the intense, action-filled, and amazing end to Belle Brooks’ The Game of Life series. It left me breathless! Story: There is still a lot going on in Five Fights, and I was unable to figure out who the Wolf was until it was finally revealed. I had suspected this character, but then thought I was wrong… Basically, I had more or lest suspected every single character there was. And I was completely blown away when it came to who it was that was helping the Wolf. I would have never, ever thought it was that character 😉 Five Fights was incredibly intense, and I am still reeling after reading it. The way the story unfolded was so […]

Review: Three Breaths – Belle Brooks

Review: Three Breaths – Belle Brooks

Oh my goodness! I don’t even know where to start with my praise for Three Breaths! The suspense is killing me! And I want to know who the Wolf is! Story: This series of mystery and suspense is just so well done! Morgan is still fighting for her life, but barely. Her Husband Reid is almost worse off than she is – with the uncertainty, the fear, and trying to stay strong for their two children. And the way the Wolf is still chasing Morgan, playing with her, toying with her emotions… It is both maddening, scary and incredibly suspenseful. Characters: Morgan is the kidnapped woman. Reid, her husband at home. Wolf, the kidnapper… and he has help. Linda, Morgan’s […]

Review: Shattered Fear – Tara Thomas

Review: Shattered Fear – Tara Thomas

Shattered Fear started out pretty strong, but as the story went on, I found Janie to be a rather weak female character. For a seasoned police officer, she acted more like a damsel in distress than someone who could take control and catch a killer. Story: The mystery is pretty strong in Shattered Fear, and I enjoyed how one character remained unknown until the end. Only alluded to as ‘The Gentleman’ the brain behind missing women and murdered dancers never showed his face. Not even to the readers. Apart from the mystery, though, I was left with wanting more. I wanted more character development. More interactions between the protagonists. More of the actual police work. Characters: Janie was working as […]

Audioreview: Hell’s Revenge – Eve Langlais

Audioreview: Hell’s Revenge – Eve Langlais

Hell’s Revenge is filled with a solid plot, mystery, suspense, some extreme hotness and lots of humor. Story: Hell’s Revenge is a risqué story, in which Muriel lives with her two consorts, David and Auric. And because of her sex-based powers, she has to make sure she gets enough sex. Which definitely brought out both a lot of steam, and some much needed   to help with all the break-neck speed action. Muriel finds out that she’s pregnant. Her up-until-now unknown mother shows up unexpectedly to share the news with her, Lucifer, and the two dads. Not only does she inform them all about the pregnancy, she also explains to them that she needs the baby once it’s born. Hell’s Revenge […]
