Review: Highland Heat – Jennifer Haymore

Review: Highland Heat – Jennifer Haymore

Highland Heat had a fantastic balance of hot romance and heady mystery, and it kept me interested and flipping the pages fast! Not everyone can pull of a historical romance heroine who actually helps out at the battleground of Waterloo, without swooning, and without really caring about propriety. Highland Heat featured such a heroine, and she was fascinating to say the least! Her name, Grace, does say it all as she showed both grace and strength as she dealt with wounded and dead soldiers. And when she discovered Duncan alive, it was all she could do to help him to his feet and to see a doctor. Of course, him being a Scottish sheep-farmer, and she a British noble didn’t […]

Review: Hard to Hold – Katie Rose

Review: Hard to Hold – Katie Rose

Hard to Hold is a sweet contemporary romance in the spin-off to The Boys of Summer series, with solid characters and a good plot. Contemporary romances that include sports heroes are among my favorites, and Hard to Hold is well done, with complex characters that I wanted to spend even more time with! The romance was swoony, and Logan was toe-curling! I can’t imagine what Logan went through – out with some friends for a few beers, a woman he’d spent one night with a year before dumped a three-month old baby in his lap and told him he was the father and it was his turn to take care of Cinnamon… At least, women have 9 months to get used […]

Review: Ruthless – Gillian Archer

Review: Ruthless – Gillian Archer

Ruthless is a whirlwind of hotness, danger, sadness, new beginnings and strong friendships. I don’t know what it is about bad boys, but these days, I really want them. Ruthless delivered, as Zag was deliciously bad, but not evil, if you know what I mean. He was the enforcer in the True Brothers MC, and I loved how he and Jessica met. Not because I enjoyed the violence against Jess (her date didn’t take no for an answer after he had walked her to her car) but because Zag heard her scream from across the parking lot and came to her rescue. Just because he didn’t agree with anyone putting their hands on a woman. Without her consent. What’s not […]

Review: Rebellious – Gillian Archer

Review: Rebellious – Gillian Archer

Rebellious is filled with danger, desire, dirty talk and enough sexy times to make anyone dizzy! Rebellious is the second of the True Brothers MC series, and I actually have an ARC of Ruthless as well, but somehow, I read this first. I enjoyed myself, so I don’t think there will be any trouble for me by not reading these in order. It’s funny to me that in my books, I don’t mind a man who takes charge, and maybe even acts a little bit controlling, because in real life, that just wouldn’t fly. Reb is the president of the MC club, and Emily is the sweet, innocent school librarian who works at B&N during the school holiday. Emily’s next-door-neighbour […]

Review: Sugar Free – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Sugar Free – Sawyer Bennett

Sugar Free nicely ends the Sugar Bowl series… but not after some incredible twists and turns where every possible solution seems impossible. A lot is going on in Sugar Free, and beware of possible spoilers from Sugar Daddy and Sugar Rush in this review, as it’s really very difficult to discuss what happens here without sharing what happened in the prior two instalments. Sela is in a seemingly impossible predicament at the beginning of the story, and Beck jumps in head first to save her and keep her out of harm’s way. Even with the horrible actions Sela had to partake in, because she only did it to save herself, I was cheering her on. Beck went way out of his comfort […]

Review: Jackson’s Trust – Violet Duke

Review: Jackson’s Trust – Violet Duke

Jackson’s Trust has many great romance aspects, as well as a couple I had to make myself suspend disbelief for… There were many things in Jackson’s Trust that appealed to me, one of them was Leila! She’s a sports journalist, covering the NFL, and in this man’s world, she really has everything to prove. Jackson quickly understands that Leila’s mind works much like his own – she analyses every little thing in a game, and she has the stats to back up her predictions. From the first time they meet, sparks fly, but they are both holding back for different reasons. Leila doesn’t want to be the woman who seemingly gets ahead by sleeping with the boss, and Jackson thinks […]

Review: Destined for a King – Ashlyn Macnamara

Review: Destined for a King – Ashlyn Macnamara

Destined for a King is the story of two very strong characters, a world in which the king is the ultimate ruler, and where there is no room for mistakes… Destined for a King is set in a fantasy world, that has a little bit of a medieval feel to it. There is magic, and there is a war on the horizon. This war is brought literally into Calista’s front yard, when Torch and his Bastard Brotherhood take the fort under siege. Torch is badly hurt, though, and Calista has to nurse him back to health, or her father will not only stay in prison, but be executed. Torch doesn’t really care that Calista has been promised to the king, […]

Review: Sugar Rush – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Sugar Rush – Sawyer Bennett

Oh my freaking goodness. Sugar Rush has left me with a thundering heart and completely out of breath! Bennett is a master at mixing erotica and suspense, and she truly proved that in Sugar Rush! All my feelings were invested, and I swear, Sela almost killed me at times. Both at the beginning and towards the very end, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to hurry up and read or if I needed a break from the emotional rollercoaster. Beck is an awesome character, too, and the way his and Sela’s relationship is getting stronger is so well done. I love that they are able to share everything with each other, even if they don’t always do it anyway. Fast […]

Review: Made for Sin – Stacia Kane

Review: Made for Sin – Stacia Kane

Made for Sin is set in a dark, gritty universe, where there are demons and magic, and where safety is not a given. Characters that kept me on my toes, a tight plot and a good storyline entertained me and had me hooked from start to finish. Made for Sin has quite a bit of suspense, as the story starts with the discovery of a corpse without its right arm. Yes, you read that right – the whole arm was taken off, from the shoulder, and the rest was left behind. Speare was the one PI who was set on the case, and he needed help both from the police and from a thief who might know something about a […]

Review: Sugar Daddy – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Sugar Daddy – Sawyer Bennett

Sugar Daddy is well done! Sela has a lot on her mind, and she is ready to do what it takes to get revenge! Only, Beck kind of throws her for a loop, with his charming personality and how he’s able to give her feelings she never thought she’d ever have. When I started Sugar Daddy, I didn’t think I’d get the hotness factor I received! Sela seemed so set on revenge, I thought there wouldn’t be any kind of connection between her and Beck, but man, I was so wrong! As Beck and Sela got to know each other better – both in bed and out of it – their relationship became something Sela could count on. And she […]
