Review: Undone By You – Kate Meader

Review: Undone By You – Kate Meader

Undone By You shows a different side of the Chicago Rebels, and none of the sisters is the main character here. That role was Cade and Dante’s. And wow, did they play it well! Story: I loved how we got a hockey player tentatively starting something with the Chicago Rebels’ new GM. Their romance was very realistic, especially in light of Cade wanting to stay in the closet – at least for a while longer. Undone By You shows how two quite different men can feel completely unravelled by each other – whiles till playing their cards very close to the vest. Characters: Dante is comfortable in his own skin, openly gay, ever since he stopped playing hockey and started […]

Review: So Over You – Kate Meader

Review: So Over You – Kate Meader

So Over You brought the feels big time! Both from Petrov and from Isobel, there was a lot on the line for them – professionally and personally. Story: I loved how So Over You showed a different aspect to hockey, with three estranged sisters having to direct their late father’s team, things have been rather tense of late. And Isobel knows her hockey, as she used to play in the past. She was so focused on her hockey she didn’t want anything to be in her way – not even the sexy hockey player she was falling for. That is – until he disappeared from her life. The three sisters are finally starting to open up to each other a […]

Review: Irresistible You – Kate Meader

Review: Irresistible You – Kate Meader

Irresistible You showed a different aspect of hockey-teams and trades, and while it’s not the first one I’ve read with female owners, it was one of the best! Good hockey, strong romance, and great character development. Story: After their father’s death, three half-sisters who didn’t know each other well inherited ownership of the Chicago Rebels hockey club. Harper had been working with the franchise for years, and she wanted the team to succeed. Bonding with her sisters or the hot, new player she had acquired for the team was not part of the plan. Irresistible You played with my heartstrings, and I also enjoyed all the hockey talk. Strong female characters, and a male lead that made me drool sure […]

Review: Waylaid – Kim Harrison

Review: Waylaid – Kim Harrison

Waylaid proves that size doesn’t matter as long as it’s done correctly. Harrison managed to truly make her characters shine in this short-story. I wouldn’t be against more crossovers between The Hollows and The Drafter series, because Waylaid gave me the best of both worlds – namely Rachel, Jenks and Peri! It was a fun, short rump, and it was great seeing Rachel and Peri trying to figure each other out. For those who have not completely finished The Hollows series, there may be some small spoilers, but nothing major. The way Rachel was deposited into Peri’s world made me laugh, because Peri really doesn’t believe in supernatural happenings, even if she herself can go back in time to change things. […]

Review: Sideswiped – Kim Harrison

Review: Sideswiped – Kim Harrison

Sideswiped is the prequel novella to Harrison’s new series The Peri Reed Chronicles, and it sets the background for both the overall story and the characters. Mysterious and dealing prominently with time travel or time change, while also showing how agents are being trained in order to be able to work for a very secret government organization. My Sideswiped review: In Sideswiped, we first meet Silas, Allen and Summer, they’re just days away from graduation at the OPTI and Silas is feeling nostalgic about possibly not seeing Summer as much in the future once she starts having assignments as a drafter. It is evident from the start that even the professors teaching the future generation of agents are not always […]

Review: Night’s Darkest Embrace – Jeaniene Frost

Review: Night’s Darkest Embrace – Jeaniene Frost

Night’s Darkest Embrace is a good story with demons, half and full-blooded, as well as fallen angels. My Night’s Darkest Embrace review: Mara is a strong half-demon on a mission, and that mission just might end up being as fatal for her as it was for her cousin Gloria. Most of Night’s Darkest Embrace happens in a different dimension on earth, where half-demons,  full demons and fallen angels live, but not together in harmony. Full demons feed on half-demons, and fallen angels feed on demons, so there is a certain hierarchy to take into consideration, even if mostly partial demons live in the dimension where Mara is trying to search for the two full demons who kidnapped Gloria years ago. […]

Review: Scythe Does Matter – Gina X. Grant

Review: Scythe Does Matter – Gina X. Grant

Hilarious because of the silly puns, Scythe does matter had me laughing so hard there were often tears involved. My Scythe Does Matter review: Kirsty d’Arc has to stay in hell for just a little longer, and while all is well with Dante and her other new friends, she is peeved at not being granted getting back to the coil and what she still thinks of as her real life. Between working to get back at Conrad, and at the same time getting her life back; and trying to function as well as possible in Hell, Kirsty has her work cut out for her. However, falling in love with Dante was not part of her plan for her stay […]

Review: The Reluctant Reaper (The Reluctant Reaper #1) – Gina X. Grant

Review: The Reluctant Reaper (The Reluctant Reaper #1) – Gina X. Grant

*I received a free ARC of The Reluctant Reaper from Pocket Star via Edelweiss in exchange of an honest review* On the night of her 25th birthday, Kristy’s life as she knows it takes a huge turn for the worse, or maybe actually better. As her soul is reaped by mistake, her body is in a coma, and she is brought to the Netherworld by Dante. The Reluctant Reaper is filled with 80s and 90s references that truly had me laughing out loud, and the wordplay is masterfully done. There is a lot of it, and I had trouble choosing what to quote in my review! Subscribe to Blog via Email Enter your email address to subscribe to this blog […]

Review: Ten Reasons to Stay – Sabrina Jeffries

Review: Ten Reasons to Stay – Sabrina Jeffries

*I received a free ARC of Ten Reasons to Stay from Pocket Star via Edelweiss in exchange of an honest review* Ten Reasons to Stay is a very short, hot historical romance, with Colin Hunt – half Indian-half English – who has just inherited the title of Earl, and come to live in England for the first time of his life. The first night in his new home, and he goes out to the stables where he comes face to face with a horse-thief! It just so happens that the horse-thief is a young miss dressed up as a boy, and she’s hell-bent on running away with one of his horses to escape an arranged marriage. All Colin wants to […]
