Series: The Hollows

Review: Trouble With the Cursed – Kim Harrison

Review: Trouble With the Cursed – Kim Harrison

Trouble with the cursed is an adrenaline rush on crack! Rachel has so many things going on at the same time it’s almost impossible to keep up and breath at the same time! Oh my gosh! I don’t even know why I’ve waited a bit over a month to read this latest installment in the Hollows series, but somehow that happened. Rachel is still my best demon-witch, and I love her with all my heart! Even if there’s not really much I can say without spoiling things for those who haven’t gotten this far in the series yet… Of course, Jenks is very present in Trouble with the Cursed, even when Rachel tries to protect him. And Trent is there […]

Review: The Turn – Kim Harrison

Review: The Turn – Kim Harrison

The Turn was very enlightening on many points, even as it brought me to question many others. There is something so very special about The Hollows, and reading more about what actually happened prior to the action in the main series was quite thrilling! The reason why humans were so afraid of tomatoes, and what happened to make the paranormals come out, so to speak. The Turn was more than ‘just’ a way to explain the world and those living in it, though. True to form, Harrison painted some very vivid characters who evolved in a storyline that was well done and quite complicated. And there were some sightings of characters who were part of the series as well. Trisk […]

Review: Sudden Backtrack – Kim Harrison

Review: Sudden Backtrack – Kim Harrison

Sudden Backtrack is like a little bonus for the Hollows-lovers out there, as we get a little something from Al after the final full story. My Sudden Backtrack review: Sudden backtrack is very short, but oh so sweet! We get to see Newt, and the beginning of the war between the demons and the elves, and Newt truly is ready to go all the way to save the few demons who can still live and thrive in the ever after. I have to say that I wasn’t necessarily a huge fan of most of the elves during the whole Hollows series, and my reluctance with them was confirmed in this story. Newt is shown as an extremely strong character in […]

Review: The Witch With No Name – Kim Harrison

Review: The Witch With No Name – Kim Harrison

*I received a free ARC of The Witch With no Name from Harper Voyager via Edelweiss in exchange of an honest review* The Witch With No Name is simply epic, the perfect ending to my favorite Urban Fantasy series, I was filled with excitement, contentment and, of course, a little sadness as I read the last adventure about Rachel, Jenks, Ivy, Trent, Bis and the other fabulous characters in The Hollows universe that is so beautifully crafted. My The Witch With No Name review: I don’t even know where to begin, and how to write a review that isn’t just gushing and fangirling about The Witch With No Name, and the whole Hollows series. So well written, and the characters […]

Review: The Undead Pool (The Hollows #12) – Kim Harrison

Review: The Undead Pool (The Hollows #12) – Kim Harrison

The Undead Pool is a great story, in which Rachel has even more magic than usual, and where she might have to stay far away from the demons while she takes care of a huge problem in Cincinnati and The Hollows. It all starts when magic misfires happen throughout Cincinnati, and Rachel happens to be where things go wrong twice in the same day. The Undead Pool starts about three months after the ending of Ever After, so it seems things have been slowing down for her a little bit, but that is not at all the case anymore once this story gets going. Then, it appears that the master vampires aren’t waking up at night, and there’s a lot […]

Review: Ever After (The Hollows #11) – Kim Harrison

Review: Ever After (The Hollows #11) – Kim Harrison

Ever After continues Rachel’s story with her problems in both realms she can inhabit. The Ever After is shrinking, and someone wants to make Rachel pay for it. As she tries to figure out what has happened to the rift she made in reality when she traveled the ley-lines to save her favorite demon. Rachel and Al look at the rift from both realities, and Al is so incapacitated he has to stay in deep sleep for a while. And without knowing who she could possible turn to, Rachel again turns to Trent – because he also has a bone to pick with a certain crazy and not completely natural demon who has been trying to trip both of them […]

Review: Into the Woods (The Hollows #10.1) – Kim Harrison

Review: Into the Woods (The Hollows #10.1) – Kim Harrison

Into the Woods has to be the best anthology I have ever gotten my hands on! I loved reading more about The Hollows cast, in these all new stories where the readers got to see some things that happened behind the scenes in the novels so far in the series. It is an excellent way to get to know Ivy, Jenks and even Trent better. And of course, the writing is awesome as usual, so Into the Woods was a real treat to tide me over until The Undead Pool is released. You should definitely not read Into the Woods before you have read the first ten book in the series, because some of what happens is not explained in […]

Review: A Perfect Blood (The Hollows #10) – Kim Harrison

Review: A Perfect Blood (The Hollows #10) – Kim Harrison

A Perfect Blood is as close to a perfect story as any I have read in The Hollows series (so far – yes, I need to say so far, because this series keeps getting better and better). The story starts with Rachel being called in to a crime scene – which kind of surprises her, as both the FIB and the IS usually don’t really want her around until the dusters have finished getting all the evidence they possible can. As she arrives, a very disgruntled Trent is leaving – and he tells her to please answer her phone when he calls her. What she sees at the crime scene had me thinking of this painting by Salvador Dali – […]

Review: Pale Demon (The Hollows #9) – Kim Harrison

Review: Pale Demon (The Hollows #9) – Kim Harrison

Pale Demon brings out the best in all the characters I now know and love! In order to save herself, Rachel needs to be at the annual witches conference to try and clear her name. But the witches will do anything they can to make sure she won’t make it in time. At the same time, Trent needs her help for something he won’t really tell her about – he only lets her know he has to be in Seattly before a certain time, and he wants her to ensure his safety while traveling. Because it’s impossible for Rachel to travel by plane, a road-trip becomes the only option – with Jenks, Ivy and Trent driving with her in her […]

Review: Black Magic Sanction (The Hollows #8) – Kim Harrison

Review: Black Magic Sanction (The Hollows #8) – Kim Harrison

Black Magic Sanction is yet another wild ride for Rachel and her friends, and it sure is for the readers as well! It’s impossible not to feel for Rachel in this installment, because so many things happen to her, and she just can’t catch a break. And there are some tough things she needs to come to term with. Both when it comes to herself and the society of witches known as the coven. My review of Black Magic Sanction is pretty much spoiler free, but there are spoilers from prior books, it’s impossible to review the 8th book in a series without talking about some of the things that have happened before, especially in a series that has some […]
