Safe and Sexy #31

Thinking of my romances and safe sex at the same time started when I wrote my discussion post with the same name a long time ago! Not too long after, the idea of sharing quotes about that ensured that the feature Safe and Sexy was born. It’s where I will share a quote from a story I have read, and where there is a lot of hotness and sexiness, but where they still take the time to be safe! It’s important to me to read books that make me dream, but I also want them to be somewhat realistic. And to me, characters seem realistic when they take care of themselves and their partner(s)! Safe sex is a great way to do so, and when an author includes a couple of lines to share that they are indeed using condoms, I am such a happy reader. And I think it’s sexy when both new and ‘old’ lovers show that they respect each other by getting that condom, and possibly making using it both safe & sexy, hot and fun.

If you want to participate with your very own Safe and Sexy quotes, go right ahead. The more the merrier, and maybe your quote will help me add a new book to my bloated TBR shelf 😉 One can never have enough books, right? Without further ado, here’s my Safe and Sexy quote for this week, it’s from Wild Card by Karina Halle.

My Safe and Sexy quote:

Wild Card cover - (un)Conventional Bookviews - Weekend Wrap-up

I kiss her forehead and murmur against it, “We don’t have to do this, Raven. There’s no rush.” “I know,” she whispers, shifting her head back so she’s looking at me. Her eyes are brimming with tears. It strikes me so hard, so deep, that I swear it goes right through me like a bullet. “But I want to. I need to. I need to feel your love, Shane. Please. I need to feel how you love me.”
I can’t argue with that. I get undressed quickly until I’m totally naked, my skin both hot and cold. I take the condom out of my discarded jeans, leaving the gift still inside my pocket.
This is a different gift entirely. Her soul to mine. Mine to hers. I slip the condom on with shaky hands, hoping I got it right.

Safe and Sexy Link-Up:

  1. Ah Lexxie, this seems like it would be really fun to participate in.I’m going to to start saving up those Save & Sexy quotes. I recently finished Ryan’s Bed by Tijan and I was surprised that there was not a discussion between the two characters about condoms or his past relationships. 🙂

    • Yeah, it bugs me when there is no discussion at all – and even more so when they afterwards think that the worst that could happen is an unplanned pregnancy. I think it’s totally possible to talk about condoms, and use them, and still have sexy-times be very sexy 🙂
I hope you’ll find some good quotes and participate with me, Jovita!
