Sidekick Saturday #6 – Comedic Relief
Sidekick Saturday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jaclyn at JC’s Book Haven. There are many secondary characters that are as great as the primaries. In some cases, the sidekicks actually steal the show and you like them better than the heroine or hero. Maybe they didn’t have enough page time for how great they were. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Choose a sidekick *or someone other than the hero or heroine* that you would like to put in the spotlight that fits in this week’s type
• Share a picture (if possible) and information about the character
• Give the title and author of a book the character can be found in
• Please don’t include too many spoilers when describing why the character is such a great sidekick
• Put your link in the Linky thing and comment
This week, Jaclyn has chosen a side character who gives some comedic relief
My choice is Simon Hunt from Dannika Dark’s Mageri series. He is such a hoot, and quite provoking at times as well. He is the perfect sidekick for loosening things up in a tense situation!
“I never arrive unannounced without something big and juicy in hand.” (From Sterling)
“Self-doubt is a persuasive mistress; careful not to shag her or you’ll never get your balls back.” (From Twist)
“So I flirt with disaster once or twice. Who doesn’t?”
He snorted. “You don’t just flirt with disaster, you have intercourse with it.” (From Impulse)
Simon laughed heartily. “I’m afraid the rest of us have to find talents to get our women into bed. Of course once they’re there, I have other talents that keep them right where they are.”
“Handcuffs hardly count,” Christian said offhandedly.
“If you mean the ladies cuffing me to the bed so they can explore Hunt Island,” he said, rubbing his chest, “…then point taken. These hands are capable of making any female climax by the mere brush of a pinky across her bare breast.”
“I must have gone to the wrong island,” I said with a private laugh.” (From Impulse)
So, what about you? Who is your comedic relief sidekick for this Saturday?
Thanks for stopping by! Happy reading.
I love Simon! You’re right he makes you laugh and think 🙂 Plus he’s pretty sexy! One of my favorites is Oberon from Kevin Hearne’s Iron Druid Series…granted he’s an Irish Wolfhound but he can “speak” with Atticus and is the snarkiest dog I’ve ever read!
LOL! I haven’t read the Iron Druid series, but a snarky dog sounds like a win!
Thanks for stopping by Traci 🙂
“I must have gone to the wrong island,” Ha! I love that quote. I have not read this series. I just made sure I have Sterling on my TBR list. I do. I will never run out of reads! Have a great weekend, Lexxie!
LOL isn’t it nice that we won’t ever run out of reads? And I think Sterling is $.99 on kindle now…
Have a great Sunday Robyn, and thanks for stopping by!
LOL! These are great quotes, Lexxie! I STILL haven’t started this series but I did download the first two. (did I already tell you that?!? 🙂 Anyway, I’m now really looking forward to meeting Simon!
Nope, you didn’t tell me you splurged and got the first two books! YAY – I look forward to seeing what you think of them all. And, yes, Simon is worthwhile 😉
Thanks for stopping by Brandee!
Yes, it was a splurge but I’d won a gift card so I figured that was a good way to spend some of it! 😉 Now I just have to make time to actually read the books! LOL
*sighs* we book-lovers need more hours in each day, just for reading! 🙂
I really need to read these books, good choice
Jodie @ Aussie Bookworm
Thanks for stopping by Jodie, and yes, when you get a chance, you really should! They’re great 🙂
I haven’t heard of this series before, but I will be watching for it now.
If you get to read it, I hope you’ll love it as much as I do, Judy-Ree.
Thanks for stopping by.
I haven’t read this series yet either 😀 I do love the quotes though. I think you have a great pick here. I agree about the one where I must have gone to the wrong island was probably my favorite, but really they all had me laughing. Jaclyn @ JC’s Book Haven.
Simon is hilarious! I’m sure I could have found lots more quotes by him, but I have a lot of stuff highlighted on my kindle, and I was really tired yesterday…
Thanks for stopping by Jaclyn!
