Sidekick Showcase - (un)Conventional Bookviews

Sidekick Showcase, previously known as Sidekick Saturday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jaclyn at JC’s Book Haven. There are many secondary characters that are as great as the primaries. In some cases, the sidekicks actually steal the show and you like them better than the heroine or hero. Maybe they didn’t have enough page time for how great they were. Anyone can play along! I will post my Sidekicks on Saturday, and so will Jaclyn, then whichever day during the week that you would like to post yours, you can put your link in on Jaclyn’s page. Just do the following:

• Choose a sidekick *or someone other than the hero or heroine* that you would like to put in the spotlight that fits in the week’s topic
• Share a picture (if you can) and information about the character
• Give the title and author of a book the character can be found in
• Please don’t include too many spoilers when describing why the character is such a great sidekick
• The day of your post, put your link in below and grab the code for your post so you can see the others that post their’s throughout the week as well

Sidekick Showcase – Leather Clad

I have to admit that when I saw the prompt for today’s sidekick showcase, I made a pretty funny face! I was thinking of all the yummy leather clad male characters I love to read about, and I thought it was going to be a very easy showcase to write about. However, a lot of those leather clad characters can’t be called sidekicks or secondary characters! Don’t despair, though, because there are quite a few sidekicks to choose from as well – and now is one of those times I wish I was as good at drawing as Jaclyn is 😉

Since I am totally immersed in The Hollows series right now, and because I love it and most of the characters as well, I have chosen one yummy vampire from that series. Yes, it’s Kisten Felps, the living vampire *sigh* with his blond hair and stubble, fake English accent and his leather jacket (and sometimes pants, too). Rachel tells us that he smells like leather, even, and it’s funny because if I smell leather now, it makes me imagine Kisten 😀

When I did an image search for Kist, this one showed up among the first ones, and I have to agree this is pretty close to how I imagine Kisten. I love the half-smile and the stubble, and I totally want to touch his hair!

From Dead Witch Walking :

“Damn it, Kist,” I heard as I entered the dark kitchen. “If you don’t get your butt out of that chair right now, I’m going to sling you halfway to the sun.” “Aw, lighten up, Tamwood. I’m not gonna do anything,” came a new voice.

A leather-clad vamp sprawled in Ivy’s chair, looking like he belonged. His immaculate boots were on the coffee table, and Ivy shoved them off in disgust.

With an exaggerated slowness, Kist cautiously leaned toward Ivy. “If you don’t want to break her in, 2 he said, his voice low with anticipation, “give her to me. I’ll give her back to you.” His lips parted to show his glistening canines. “Scout’s honor.”

From The Good, the Bad and the Undead:

“Alone at last.” Kist shifted to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with me and look across the open floor. I could smell leather, though he wasn’t wearing any. That I could see, at least.

Kist was good at this. Almost as if reading my mind, he leaned close. “I’m even better in bed, love,” he whispered, his breath sending a delicous dart of sensation down to the pit of my being.

Kist’s breath faltered as I sent the hint of my fingernails under his ear. Making a low guttural sound, he pressed closer, his heat obvious through the thin material of my shirt.

I am thinking I might not be the only one who thought of Kisten for today – I look forward to seeing what quotes everybody else comes up with! Thanks for stopping by today, have a spectacular Saturday and a great weekend.

    • I’m glad you enjoy the picture I found, Traci! I love Kist, and I love The Hollows series. I’m starting to slow down my reading now, as I am reading book 8, and there aren’t that many left that have been published for the time being. I become a glutton for books in a series when I start it late and have several books lined up.

Thanks for stopping by! I’ll try to stop by your blog today too, but I’m on vacation, with wonky internet connection.

  1. Yes, Yes, Yes!! He even smells like leather 😀 Great picture too. I was a little sad that I didn’t have time to do a drawing of my choice this week, but I did come up with a couple of good pictures to depict. Your choice is too great – LOVE him. Great job, Lexxie! I hope you are having an excellent weekend~ Jaclyn @ JC’s Book Haven.

    • I saw your pick of Bones, Jaclyn, and I love that you fished out some foreign book covers! Right now, though, it’s Kist on my mind 🙂

  2. Oh Kist. He’s so hot. I’m only two books in, but there were a couple steamy scenes in book 2 and I swear I’ll love him forever. Great pick, Lexxie! I had a hard time with this one for some reason. I hope you’re having a great weekend!
