Coming for You (Dirty, Dark and Deadly #3) – J.A. Huss
James, Harper, and Sasha are products of their environment. Born into a secret organization that runs a global shadow government, and taught to kill since they were small, they find themselves both indispensable and expendable to all the people they used to trust.
Twenty-eight year old James Fenici has been an assassin since he was sixteen. He’s amassed debts and favors from countless Company brothers and participated in hundreds of Company jobs. But there are not enough favors in the world to clear his debt and make him worthy of the only girl he’s ever wanted.
Eighteen year old Harper Tate is the girl who doesn’t exist. Born and raised on a megayacht in a tropical paradise, she was destined to be a secret until now. No history, no records, and taught to have no opinions or ambition of her own, Harper is suddenly presented with more choices than she can handle.
Thirteen year old Sasha Cherlin is the girl who knows everything and understands nothing at all. Her future is filled with vengeance and death, but her dreams are filled with hope and a promise. A promise who no longer wants her.
The game is on, the pieces are in place, and the players have everything to lose. But who can you trust when everyone’s a traitor?
Purchased:
So, I am preparing what I am going to do for my MA thesis, even if I still have time. And thanks to my class called Romance and its Remediation, where we have read romances from medieval times and up to the 20th century, I figured, why not take one of the romance tropes and some contemporary stories I really love and go from there? So, I will write on love triangles and what they do for the character development of the main character (or something like that). And I’m using The Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi and The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins as my primary sources. Therefore, I needed the paperbacks, so I can quote and cite passages with page numbers an all that.
Giveaway Wins:
I won this one with the necklace and two bookmarks from author Chantal Fernando in a giveaway a while back, and the book arrived this week. I’m excited to read it!
Maybe This Time – Chantal Fernando
Moving in with my half-brother Xander, I had no idea what to expect.
But nothing could have prepared me for this.
My brother’s friends are wild, protective, secretive, always around.
And drop dead gorgeous.
Out of all of them, there’s something about Reid Knox.
Brooding, temperamental, guarded…
And I want him more than anything I have ever wanted in my life.
Did you get some exciting-looking books this week? Remember to leave me your link so I can check out your Stacking the Shelves and or Bought, Borrowed and Bagged post, too 🙂 Thanks for stopping by! Have a spectacular Saturday.
Congrats on your winning those books. Those books look really good. The Shatter Me series is so good. Great haul.
Grace
I have already read Shatter Me, that’s one of the reasons I wanted to use the series for my Master’s thesis 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, Grace.
Nice haul, Lexxie. I still need to catch up on the Shatter Me series. Hopefully one day.
Happy reading. Hope you enjoy all your books.
My StS @ Marilyn’s Mystery Blog
It’s one of my favorite series, Marilyn. Thanks for stopping by.
Ah the US shatter me covers are to die for. I am considering on buying myself that version to pretty up my shelves 😀
Awesome haul, girl! <33
I agree, they are awesome! It’s like the whole world is around that eye. Thanks for stopping by, Melanie.
yay many books for you. I’m not a huge fan of Hunger games but I like them. I also have the first Mafi book but I need to read it. Happy reading!
I enjoyed the Hunger Games, but I truly loved the Shatter Me series. I might only use Shatter Me for my thesis, but in case I need more primary literature, I figured it was best to get both series.
Thanks for stopping by, Melliane.
Lovely covers! I love the covers of Shatter Me. They’re so appealing. I hope that you enjoy your new books this week!
I agree, the covers are gorgeous! Thanks for stopping by, Chrissi.
OOohh very nice! I just read the Shatter Me books earlier this year and really enjoyed them! I highly recommend reading the novellas as well! They’re in a bindup called Destroy Me! I know you’re using these for school, but for the enjoyment part of reading, I still highly recommend adding the novellas and maybe not using it for your paper if you think it will confuse things! 😉
Happy Reading!
My STS will be up tomorrow so be sure to stop by then!
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
I have already read the whole series, Jessica, including the novellas. For my thesis, I can choose myself, and I’m very happy that there are two professors willing to supervise me 😀
Thanks for stopping by, Jessica.
Very nice, Lexie! I haven’t started the Shatter Me series. Unfortunately, spoilers tossed a brick right at my head. Maybe someday. Enjoy the weekend!
I hate spoilers with a passion, Shelley! I don’t understand why people need to write posters either on Twitter or FB, at least, in reviews, most people I know will put a spoiler warning.
I truly loved the Shatter Me series, but I’m not sure that would have been the case if I’d been spoiled.

I want to take a class where I can read cool books like that..lol. Enjoy your reading!
Have a great weekend!
LOL Stormi. Those books aren’t exactly for class, their for my thesis. But I was lucky to find some professors who agreed to supervise me 🙂
Have a great weekend yourself!
What an interesting topic you choose for your thesis! And ofcourse a great reason to buy those books in paperback :). And yay for winning a giveaway!
LOL, yes, I know an excellent excuse for getting these books in paperbacks rather than only my kindle edition 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, Lola!
Hmm, I wonder what your point of view on love-triangle is…:) Good luck with that thesis! You could also use The Vampire Diaries. It’s quite present ahha…too present actually lol 😛
You know, in most contemporary (or I should say novels written nowadays) I loathe love triangles. Because they just make the whole plot stagnate, and nothing happens at all. In the medieval and modern times, though, love triangles made the main character change in some way. Either to become more self-assured and sure, or to become an a-hole…
I’m not sure right now if both Shatter Me series and Hunger Games series will be too much, and if I have to choose, I’ll pick only Shatter Me. We shall see once I’ve handed in my pre-proposal in January.
Oh wow, first, I LOVE the idea of your thesis, and those are two amazing series to work with. Especially when it comes to love triangles! Such a great idea, I hope the process goes smoothly for you 🙂
Congrats on the win, too! Hope you enjoy the new book and the new kindle book, and have a great week!
Thank you Shannon! I’m pretty excited I got the professors interested, actually. To read about something I really love will hopefully help me 🙂
Thanks for stopping by.
You had a great week book-wise, Lexxie! I’m excited about your thesis!! 🙂 Congrats on your win! I think I may have to add Maybe This Time to my tbr…it sounds good!
Hope you’re enjoying your weekend. I can’t wait to see the videos of the light & sound show. We had a good time yesterday as a family. Today we’re packing! **BIG HUGS**
I’m actually excited about my thesis, too, Brandee *grins* I’m thinking it would be great to do a PhD once I finish my MA, but I’m a little old to be a TA…
Have fun packing, drive carefully, and have a fantastic Thanksgiving in Texas. *BIG HUGS*
Amazing haul this week. The Shatter Me series is one I am hoping to read very soon. I have such cover love for that series as well, those covers are stunning. I hope you enjoy all your reads this week. Here’s my STS.
Shatter Me is so good! I feel so privileged to be able to write my thesis about it 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, Charnell.

Bright idea for your thesis, let us know how it went or if you need input you can always do a blog post about it… and I have swag envy.
Thank you Braine! I’ll definitely post about it if I need input. We’ve had this thing about how ‘the author is dead’ in one of my classes, which certainly isn’t true when you read contemporary authors… It would be very interesting to write something about that as well… So many ideas, so little time 😀

Man I wish my MA was in literature or something similar – I could get into that thesis topic! You should read the selection for your study on love triangles – that thing is loaded with them 😉 and an excuse to buy more books with pretty covers! LOL!
Have a great week Lexxie!
I haven’t read The Selection, though, and I really want to stay with books I’ve already read at least once, so that I can do an in depth analysis as well. We haven’t read any of these books in my classes, but some professors are pretty open-minded 🙂
Happy Monday, Berls 🙂
I love the Shatter Me and The Hunger Games series, I need, need to see Mockingjay P1! Great haul!
-Jon from Bookish Antics!
Me, too! I need to find the time to go see the movie as soon as possible! Thanks for stopping by, Jon.
I have eyed Chantal Fernando’s book for a while… I just love the cover and I know I would enjoy it. Keen to see what you think of it!
Naomi @ Nomi’s Paranormal Palace
I hope I’ll get to it soon, Naomi. It does look really good 🙂 Have a fantastic week!
Wow, that is a great idea for a paper, and so much fun to read and research
Yeah, I am so happy I found a theme that interests me so much 🙂
I haven’t read that particular J.A. Huss series, but I love her Tragic series. Happy reading!
Wow, that’s so cool you are using those books for your MA thesis!
