STS #119 – Bought Borrowed & Bagged #69

Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews is all about the latest additions to your library – virtual or actual, with books that are  bought, borrowed, won or ARCs  you will be reading soon. Bought Borrowed and Bagged is a homage to to Barron’s Books and Baubles from KMM’s Fever series, and is hosted by Braine over at Talk Supe. I went a little too click-happy this past week, it seems! I have no idea how it happened that I added so many new books – but just look at them! How in the world was I supposed to resist them?

Nobody but You cover - (un)Conventional BookviewsNobody but You by Jill Shalvis – thank you Grand Central Publishing!

SOMETIMES YOU CAN GO HOME AGAIN…
After an overseas mission goes wrong, Army Special Forces officer Jacob Kincaid knows where he must go to make things right: back home to the tiny town of Cedar Ridge, Colorado. All he needs to scrub away his painful past is fresh mountain air, a lakeside cabin, and quiet solitude. But what he discovers is a gorgeous woman living on a boat at his dock.
Sophie Marren has nowhere else to go. She’s broke, intermittently seasick, and fighting a serious attraction to the brooding, dishy, I’m-too-sexy-for-myself guy who’s now claiming her dock. Something about Jacob’s dark intensity makes her want to tease—and tempt—him beyond measure. Neither one wants to give any ground . . . until they realize the only true home they have is with each other.

When Milwaukee-area wife and mother MJ Boudreaux notices her husband Chris seems more interested in the casino than her, she’s more bothered that she isn’t upset than by her husband’s absence. She picks up poker as a way for them to spend more time together—and reignite their marital flame.
Although the game doesn’t give her the quality time with Chris that she’d hoped, MJ finds she has a knack for it. Increasingly unhappy at home, she turns to the felt top of the poker table for comfort. Intoxicated with newfound freedom, MJ begins spending more time at the gambling tables and less with her family, finally carving out for herself a place outside her role of wife and mother.
After a string of great wins, MJ finds herself in Vegas, attracting the attention of a certain magnetic poker star. But when she’s forced to choose between her family and her new exciting lifestyle, the stakes may be higher than she thought and MJ will have to play her hand carefully…or risk losing it all.

In the small, affluent town of Fairview, Connecticut everything seems picture perfect.

But, in the weeks and months that follow, as she heals from her physical wounds, and with no factual recall of the attack, Jenny struggles with her raging emotional memory. Her father, Tom, becomes obsessed with his inability to find her attacker and seek justice while her mother, Charlotte, prefers to pretend this horrific event did not touch her perfect country club world.
As they seek help for their daughter, the fault lines within their marriage and their close-knit community emerge from the shadows where they have been hidden for years, and the relentless quest to find the monster who invaded their town – or perhaps lives among them – drive this psychological thriller to a shocking and unexpected conclusion.

Thirty Nights With a Dirty Boy by Shiloh Walker – thank you St. Martin’s Paperbacks!

Money Can’t Buy Love…
Ella Cruise doesn’t like to be touched. A survivor of childhood abuse, she craves security in all aspects of her life: fulfilling work at the nonprofit she runs, more than enough money to live comfortably, and a good friend and confidant. But none of it can ease her longing for intimacy, even if just for a night. When she meets a gorgeous bartender who moonlights as a male prostitute, a bold idea begins to take shape…
But It Can Buy a Night of Passion —or Thirty…
Sean Lachlan is stunned by the cool beauty’s offer: 30 nights of no-strings sex in exchange for all the money he’d need to start over. The deal seems too good to be true, especially since his desire for her is no act, but Sean finds he can’t turn her down. Before they know it, Sean and Ella realize they’re in deep, their defenses crumbling. Will thirty nights with a dirty boy be enough after all, or will love lead Ella and Sean back to the negotiating table?

There’s just one problem: Love was never part of the deal…

Ella Cruise knows love isn’t for her. Or she did, before her arrangement with sinfully sexy bartender and male prostitute, Sean Lachlan, for thirty nights of fantastic, no-strings sex. But the more she learns about him, the deeper she falls, until she starts to wonder: Can thirty nights be enough when what she really wants is forever?

    • When I read the summary for Someone Else’s Love Letter, I knew I had to read that one. It’s the kind of story I love – and I hope it will live up to my expectations.
Shiloh Walker knows how to write hot, so I’m definitely looking forward to her Dirty Boy series 😉

  1. I’m far too click happy at the moment but I did get through a whole shelf of contemporary novels in a week so I’m going to pat myself on the back, feek smug and order more zombies! Hope you enjoy your new books!

  2. Great haul! I keep telling myself not to request any more books but I just can’t seem to stop myself. I have Nobody But You and am looking forward to it. I just grabbed Angel because it is free and why not?!?! I can’t wait to see what you think of these books!

All Is Not Forgotten has an interesting premise. A drug to erase memory. Hmmm, has me thinking about that issue… Happy reading.

  7. Happy Saturday Lexxie! I do love me some Jill Shalvis books. Is Cedar Ridge a new series? I don’t think I’ve heard of that one yet. I will have to look that up.
    Happy Reading!

Luck, Love & Lemon Pie sounds good, but it has me wondering where the pie comes in ;). Hopefully it’ll be a good enough quote for TT&HHs someday!

The Marriage Contract sounds wonderful too. Oh man, you’re going to have some hard choices this week as to which book to choose next. Happy Reading!

    • I couldn’t resist Nobody but You, Lola, I read it yesterday. It was so good! I loved it to pieces 🙂 I hope you’ll enjoy it as well.
I love that my friend sent me the dog book, because to me, getting a puppy needs as much preparation as having a baby.

  9. Amazing Haul!!! I LOVE Nalini Singh so I definitely hope you enjoyed her book! The thirty Nights with a dirty boy series sounds great. I’ll be adding it to my to-read shelf on Goodreads! Happy reading!

  10. You got some good ones it looks like! All is not Forgotten looks pretty interesting to me in particular. Some day I will get far enough into Nalini Singh’s series to get to this one-hopefully!

  11. You’re right – I couldn’t have passed them all up either, Lex! I saw Luck, Love, and Lemon Pie somewhere last week and thought it looked interesting. I also think Someone Else’s Love Letter sounds intriguing. And I’m really envious of you getting Shiloh Walker’s trilogy. Can’t wait to see what you think of it. I haven’t read her in too long. I picked up Angel sometime late last year. And I also one-clicked The Marriage Contract! 😀 I hope you enjoy all your new pretties, my dear! **BIG HUGS**
