STS #128 – Bought Borrowed & Bagged #78

Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews is all about the latest additions to your library – virtual or actual, with books that are  bought, borrowed, won or ARCs  you will be reading soon. Bought Borrowed and Bagged is a homage to to Barron’s Books and Baubles from KMM’ Fever series, and is hosted by Braine over at Talk Supe. Without further ado, here’s what I bought, borrowed or bagged this past week:

Right cover - (un)Conventional BookviewsRight by Jana Aston

My childhood was perfect.
I’ve led a charmed life, and I’m not going to blow it now
by picking the wrong guy.
I’ve got my sights set on my brother’s best friend.
He’s known my family for years. He’s reliable and kind and handsome.
Sure, he’s been avoiding me since I was six.
I’m a bit aggressive for him, maybe.
But he’s the one… right?

Rand Bishop’s dreams of Olympic gold were shattered years ago but he’s left that all behind, settling into a new career and lifestyle that would make any man jealous. While he may not be competitively racing down the ski slopes anymore, he’s just as happy getting his rocks off as a Fantasy Maker for The Silo.
He’s good at what he does.
Damn good.
But while life couldn’t be better for Rand, it seems to be falling apart for Catherine Lyons Vaughn, the dark haired, brown-eyed beauty that has captivated an entire sex club.
Having spent years degrading herself on her husband’s whim and now left destitute after his death, Catherine has hit rock bottom. With nothing but her body to peddle, Catherine is merely trying to figure out how to survive in a harsh, cruel world. Lucky for her, Rand has taken her under his tattooed wing, and he’s determined to give her a safe life where she can be the woman she was always meant to be.
Now all Catherine has to do is believe she deserves the chance.

The Baller audiocover - (un)Conventional BookviewsThe Baller by Vi Keeland – thank you, Tantor Media!

The first time I met Brody Easton was in the men’s locker room.
It was my first interview as a professional sportscaster.
The famed quarterback decided to bare all.
And by all, I don’t mean he told me any of his secrets.
No. The arrogant ass decided to drop his towel, just as I asked the first question. On camera.
The Super Bowl MVP quickly adopted a new hobby—screwing with me.
When I pushed back, he shifted from wanting to screw with me, to wanting to screw me.
But I don’t date players.
And it’s not because I’m one of the few women working in the world of professional football.
I’d date an athlete.
It’s the other kind of player I don’t date.
You know the type. Good looking, strong, cocky, always looking to get laid.
Brody Easton was the ultimate player.
Every woman wanted to be the one to change him.
But the truth was, all he needed was a girl worth changing for.
Turned out, I was that girl.
Simple right?
Let’s face it. It never is.
There’s a story between once upon a time and happily ever after…
And this one is ours.

As Yelena tries to escape her new dilemma, disasters keep mounting. Rebels plot to seize Ixia and Yelena develops magical powers she can’t control. Her life is threatened again and choices must be made. But this time the outcomes aren’t so clear.

It always does.”

His heart may be the last thing she ever steals…
Marlowe is a pickpocket, a housebreaker-and a better actress than any professional on the stage. She runs with the Covent Garden Cubs, a gang of thieves living in the slums of London’s Seven Dials. It’s a fierce life, and Marlowe has a hard outer shell. But when she’s alone, she allows herself to think of a time before-a dimly remembered life when she was called Elizabeth.

Maxwell, Lord Dane, is intrigued when his brother, a hired investigator, ropes him into his investigation of the fiercely beautiful hellion. He teaches her to navigate the social morass of the ton, but Marlowe will not escape so easily. Instead, Dane is drawn into her dangerous world, where the student becomes the teacher and love is the greatest risk of all.

  1. Great haul this week! All your choices look like really fun books. All The Right Places looks fun. I think it is set in San Francisco, which is the area I live in. It is so fun to read books that are set where you live. I will need to check it out. Have a great week.

Got me curious about Baller. And I hear Poison Study is a good one. I have that one in my tbr pile for future. Have a good reading week.

  7. I read the Poison Study – I thought it was good, but wasn’t wowed by it. I’ve tried Bitten, but I couldn’t get into the book. I do have the first few books in the series, so I’m determined to try it again a little later and hopefully my mood will change. I love the series on TV show.

    Great haul! Happy Reading!
