The Sunday Post #18 – Weekly Wrap-up

Welcome to my weekly wrap-up post. Thank you to Kimba over at The Caffeinated Reviewer, who is hosting this weekly event. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

My week has been extremely busy, as it was my first full week of teaching, and I had an oral exam on Tuesday morning before I had to run to teach my own class… I’ve been writing lesson plans, discussion questions about the novel my class is reading and preparing to teach them how to write an academic essay. Since their first (or second in some cases) language is French, essay-writing is not the same. It’s very interesting to show them the ropes, though, and they are all very motivated and ready to learn more.

I have also started to get ready for my new semester at Uni, next week is the winter vacation here, and afterwards, both teaching and learning is back on the menu. Next week, we’re going to Spain for a few days to furnish our new holiday apartment on the Costa Brava so that the next time we have time off we can just go and chill 🙂

Stormi @ Books, Movies, Reviews! Oh My! and Berls @ Fantasy Is More Fun have a great feature for February… Go check out their Murder at the Reinhart, where they have co-written the introduction to a cozy mystery and several authors have written the rest – using their characters from prior stories as the sleuths who have to figure out who the killer is!

Larissa @ YA Midnight Reads has an awesome discussion post about The Perfect Body.

Michelle @ Because Reading has a great Life of a Blogger post about Superpowers.

Carmel @ Rabid Reads has a discussion about Peeking at the End

and Brandee @ Bookworm Brandee shares her buys days in her post Stay at Home Mom?

What have you been up to this past week? Don’t forget to leave me a link so I can come visit your Sunday Post as well.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’ve enjoyed your weekend, and that next week will be filled with awesome!

    • Thanks, Naomi 🙂 I’m glad, too, especially because my students are motivated and want to learn, that certainly helps 🙂

  1. Sounds like a busy, but interesting week. And you are SO lucky going to Spain next week 🙂 This weekend I´ve been more like a nurse, as the flu has entered the house. Now I´m crossing my fingers hoping I don´t get it as well 🙂

  2. An appartment on the Costa Brava ?! I’m jealous, lol ! Seems like you have the teaching thing well planned and rounded up, its sounds exciting 😉 Enjoy your time in Spain and have a great week !

    • Yeah, we go to the same place for our summer vacation for years, and because the real estate prices were really good we figured it was a good time to buy 🙂 It’ll be a great place to stay during the cold months when we retire, too 😀
      Thanks for stopping by, Iza.

    • See, that’s what I hope to be able to help my students with… The differences are great, so I can totally understand why a French essay wouldn’t make sense to you at all.
Thanks for stopping by, Laura 🙂

  3. Sounds like you had a busy week, but it sounds like you’re enjoying the work. And that sounds fun having a holiday appartment in Spain, hope you get it all furnished next week, so after that you can relax there.
The Murder at Reinhart event is so fun, I can’t wait for the voting to start!

  4. We actually have all the furniture already, but since it’s from IKEA, we need to work before they are actual furniture instead of various pieces of wood 😀
I am enjoying the work, Lola, which is really good, because it would really suck if after four years of studying I realized I didn’t enjoy teaching…
    Thanks for stopping by, Lola.

    • Ha! Sometimes, it makes me tired when I realize just how much I’m busy with, too, Melanie. While I’m at it, it’s OK, but then noting down what I’ve been up to it sounds like a lot 🙂
      Thanks for stopping by.

  5. How awesome you have a nice place to go for vacation, my parents have a house by the shore we go to in the summer. It’s quiet and just a nice place to unwind! Good luck setting it all up!

You are keeping super busy while I am over here being uber lazy. I need to find a nice in between! So happy for you with your class and good luck going back to school again.

    Have a great week Lexxie!

    • I know! I can’t wait to get everything ready so that our Easter vacation will just be lazy and relaxing 🙂

I wish I was little bit less busy, but it is what it is 🙂 I’ll get used to it all very soon, I’m sure.

      Have a great week yourself!

  6. Oooh a trip to Spain! That sounds absolutely perfect right about now 🙂 Enjoy your time away! We don’t have a holiday home, but when we go away on holidays we usually go self-catering and get an apartment/house. Comparing it to a hotel room, the extra space is heavenly 😀 Plus, it cuts down on the food bill, so it’s an added bonus! Have a great week, Lexxie, happy reading!

    • Yeah, it’s a tiny bit warmer there, and just the smell of the sea invigorates me every tim, Alma. Self-catering is the way to go, and then maybe a restaurant every now and then… There are many nice and inexpensive restaurants in the area around our apartment, but not too close, we’ll be on a very quiet little strett 🙂
      Thanks for stopping by!

    • It’s easier to know what to expect when I teach now… I am not too fond of the student books I’m supposed to use, I think there are easier ways to explain grammar rules:)
We’re only a 7 hour drive from our holiday apartment, Kim, so it’s really worth it! Even for a long weekend, we can just drive down and have a complete different weekend than we’d have had at home.

  7. I believe that teachers should be given so much more respect (and money), since the task is never-ending. (I was married to a special education teacher/administrator when my kids were little, and he was always preparing).

I can tell you love it, so that’s half the battle…have a great week, and enjoy your reading (when you can). Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

    • Teachers are actually pretty well paid here in Switzerland, Laurel-Rain, so I guess it’s better to do that job here than it is in many other countries.
Have a great week yourself 🙂

  8. Sounds like you had a very busy and exciting week! And Spain! I’m jealous, but not too much because I’m going to Venice next week (can’twait!!)

THAT cozy mystery sounds super fun, *goes to check it out*

    Cayce recently posted: I ♡ Songkick…
    • Nice! I haven’t been to Venice, I hope you’ll have a great time there, Cayce. And that mystery is such a great idea – I can’t wait until more of the story kicks off 🙂

  9. You did have busy week- good luck juggling all that and enjoy your trip to Spain! That would be a good place t obe right now, i would think. 🙂 And I love the reinhart event that Berls and storm are doing- way to much fun! 🙂

    • I think the change of scenery will be very nice indeed, Greg 🙂 And I’m happy you’re enjoying the Reinhart event, too!
      have a great week 🙂

Sounds like you’ve been (and will continue to be!) super busy! I now lesson planning takes a lot of time and I can only imagine it’s even more interesting when you’ve got your own classes to take at the same time! Good luck with everything. And have fun furnishing your place in Spain, that should be fun 🙂 I’m going to have go crash there sometime LOL… you know, when I’m in town 😉 have a great week and thanks so much for sharing Murder at the Reinhart!

  11. Whew you are busy! So glad you are finding your students to be motivated and wanting to learn…that has to definitely help things and make it more enjoyable for you as well. I hope this week goes well 😀

  12. I hope you’re enjoying your holiday, Lexxie. You deserve some time away. Although I’m sure you’re busy with furnishing your new place, I assume you’ve also time to relax and play? I’m so excited that teaching your class is going so well. I know you’re a wonderful teacher and those kids are lucky to have you. 🙂 I am sorry you have to start school again – but for my own selfish reasons. I hope we can chat and catch up before things get too busy. 90 days, Lexxie….90 days and we’ll be squealing to one another in person!

Thanks for the shout-out, by the way. 🙂 Happy Wednesday! Miss you! *BIG HUGS*
