The Sunday Post #6 – Weekly Wrap-up
Welcome to my weekly wrap-up post. I am signing up with Kimba over at The Caffeinated Reviewer, who is hosting this weekly event. This past week was pretty good, I was able to catch up for my classes once they started again, and I read some pretty awesome books as well.
On Friday, I watched the If I Stay movie with my oldest daughter, and man how we both cried. I really enjoyed the movie a lot, it was pretty close to what happened in the book, and that’s always a plus. The one thing that was different from the book, though, was what Adam said to Mia while she was still in her coma… In the book, he said that he’d even accept being apart from her if he knew she was alive somewhere, but in the movie, he said that he needed them to be together again. I think this will change how people feel about Mia in the second movie, and that one thing did not make me all that happy.
I also started a Tumblr account, I haven’t done very much there yet, and I’m still learning the ropes, but if you want to find me there, here’s the (un)Conventional Bookviews Tumblr.

What have you been up to this past week? Don’t forget to leave me a link so I can come visit your Sunday Post as well.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’ve enjoyed your weekend, and that next week will be filled with awesome!
I re-watched all Sherlock, I don’t want to cry while watching movies lol ! I have a Tumblr too, but I’m afraid it’s completely… dirty. So it’s my secret place 😉 Have a great sunday !
Sometimes, having a good cry about stuff that has nothing to do with me is just awesome… Other times, not so much.
Oooh Iza! Now you got me really, really curious about your Tumblr 😛
Thanks for stopping by.
I haven’t read the book If I Stay and I don’t plan on watching the movie either. It’s always annoying when they change things little things in the movie like that, that change the whole meaning of a scene.
I hope you had a great week 🙂
Yeah, it’s especially gotten me to question how they will deal with that in the next movie, because it changes quite a few things in what will happen later.
Thanks for stopping by, Lola.
I have a Tumblr companion blog where I put my header and such each day. It directs people to the main blog.
I did not read the IF I STAY book or watch the movie. I find it hard to willingly watch something sad.
Here’s my post: http://fangswandsandfairydust.com/2014/11/sunday-after-ball.html
I enjoy that sadness sometimes, it’s good to cry about things that aren’t real every now and then 🙂
Good idea to add your headers and main posts with links to your main blogs on Tumblr, I will try to do that as well.
Thanks for stopping by, Steph.
I also wanted to mention that on Tumblr (at least the free one) I have learned that (how I have it set up) I have to go in and tell it to make the pictures the right size. This is inside the CODE: leftbracket img src=”” height=”number px or %” width=”number px or %”/Rightbracket
Oh, thank you for that… I need to play around with it a little. It’s nice to have a place where I can post stuff that’s a little different from my actual blog 🙂
I’m not familiar with If I Stay, but I remember hearing it was good. I always appreciate when they stay close to the book, that’s a sign of a good adaptation I think. Glad you had a good book week.
Nice to see COYER back too… have a great week!
I loved reading If I Stay, it really impacted me in a good way, and it was really nice to watch the movie, too. Hopefully it will make my daughter want to read the book, now 😀
Thanks for stopping by, Greg.
I saw the If I Stay movie within a week of reading the book…didn’t notice that difference! I guess it didn’t impact my enjoyment. It is On Demand now, and I’m pondering watching it again.
Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.
The movie was really good, though! I loved the cast, Mia’s parents were so warm and friendly, even if she was very different from them. I hope you’ll enjoy it just as much watching it a second time.
Thanks for stopping by, Laurel-Rain.

I followed you on Tumblr. It sounds like you had a nice week. My girls and I are total criers when it comes to movies! My youngest is reading If I Stay now. Have a happy week and thanks for the shout-out 🙂
Thanks for the Tumblr follow, Kim!
Yeah, crying is good sometimes… and when we do it together, we can hold each other tight and just be happy whatever is happening in the movie isn’t happening to us 🙂
Thanks for stopping by.
Congrats on getting caught up with your classes! I haven’t read If I Stay, but I really like when movie adaptations stay close to the books 🙂 Hope you have a great week, Lexxie. Happy reading!
I’m always a little careful when I decide to watch a movie that’s based on a book I really enjoyed! This one was a winner 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, Alma.
Gayle Forman is one of my top fav authors. I think I read If I Stay first, and I absolutely loved it. My daughter and I went with some friends to see the movie at midnight when it premiered and I thought it was well done. I always wonder if, since I read the book, I see more in it than people who didn’t read it…like my brain puts in any missing or unclear info. It’s been a while since I read it, so I didn’t remember the part you mentioned. Yes, that will make a difference (unless they didn’t plan on making a sequel).
Have a great week!
It’s been a while since I read If I Stay, too, but I remember that very clearly, and you’re right, they only knew last week that the sequel will become a movie as well…
Gayle Forman is one of my favourite authors as well, her writing is always able to grab a hold of my heart.
Thanks for stopping by, Audrey.
From what I know of the sequel I can see how that change could make a big difference in viewer reactions. I actually haven’t read any Gayle Forman yet but it’s going to happen! I’m kind of scared because I don’t like to cry and I know I will! I need to go check out your review for the Ashely MacNamara. I read the first one awhile ago and haven’t read anything else by her. Have a great week!
Exactly! And I want to continue to be able to continue to love Mia – and I want my daughter to love her, too!
If you don’t want to cry (much) you should read Just One Day first… that one’s a little less emotional, and you get to spend a day in Paris, too!
I love Ashley MacNamara, her HR stories are always a little different.
Thanks for stopping by, Katherine.

I want to see If I Stay – I read both books in September and loved them. What a bummer that they screwed up Adam’s part – I think it will make doing the sequel right very difficult. Maybe they’ll manage a flash back or something that adds in what he really said? I’m glad it was otherwise good though!
Have a great week!
I think you’ll enjoy the movie, Berls! And even if they screwed that one thing up, I hope they’ll still somehow manage to do the sequel right!
Thanks for stopping by 🙂

I haven’t read If I Stay and I haven’t seen the movie yet either. I am not a big movie person, especially sad movies I have issues with sometimes I like a good cry but I think I am scared to watch them because I know it will make me cry. If any of that makes sense lol.
Have a great week Lexxie and Happy Reading!!! 🙂
You should definitely try If I Stay, either the movie or the book the next time you feel like you need a good cry, Michelle! And I totally get what you mean, ugly crying is called ugly for a reason 😉
Thanks for stopping by.
I haven’t read If I Stay and I really wanted to. Do you suggest for me to watch the movie first or read the book?
Thanks for dropping by my blog babe. Have a great week! ♥
Read the book first, of course 😀 It’s a pretty short book – around 230 pages or something like that.
Thanks for stopping by, Nyze.
I’ve been wondering if that If I Stay was going to be a sad movie as I haven’t read the book. I don’t like to cry while watching movies, you can’t see the screen, books on the other hand I don’t mind. I know I’m a little bit weird that way. LOL
Have a great week Lexxie!
Yes, it’s definitely sad, Sharon! The book is amazing, though, so I definitely recommend it 😉
Thanks for stopping by.
5 reviews 😀 a very busy week!
Yeah, I’ve been catching up on my review-writing lately 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, Lily!
J.A. Huss is great. I will check out your review of Block.
I agree, Huss is the bomb! Thanks for stopping by, Jennifer!
You had a productive week, Lexxie. 🙂 And I’m happy you saw If I Stay with your daughter. I want to see it with my oldest as well. But the change you mentioned is concerning. :/ Thanks for the shout out on my JA Huss post. 🙂 **BIG HUGS**
Oh, you will both love that movie, Brandee, even with that change in the ending…
Have a fantastic Monday, my dear! *BIG HUGS*
Great, so when I go to see If I Stay, I know I am going to cry! Lol
Glad you enjoyed it though. Have a great week Lexie!
Naomi @ Nomi’s Paranormal Palace
Definitely going to cry watching If I Stay, Naomi! Very well done, though 🙂
It’s so sweet that you and your daughter go out for movies like that. I haven’t seen the movie yet but I’m completely with you on that change that made about what Adam said. The second book completely hinges on that detail so either they have no plans of doing a movie of Where She Went or they just didn’t plan enough? It’ll be interesting how they’ll interpret the second book if they ever decide on the movie. Thanks for sharing and for stopping by my Sunday Post 🙂
We didn’t go out to the movies, I had pre-ordered If I Stay on iTunes, and as soon as it arrived, we huddled together on the couch 😀
The second part will be so different if that tiny think isn’t cleared up! And I think the 2nd movie was just confirmed.
Thanks for stopping by, Camille.
