The Sunday Post #61 – Weekly Wrap-up

Welcome to my Sunday Post. Thank you to Kimba over at The Caffeinated Reviewer, who is hosting this weekly event. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

This week has been weird, weather wise. It’s been pretty cold, just around freezing temperatures, and foggy and dark all week. That made it difficult to be motivated enough to leave the house – even if we had to leave the house every day… Yesterday was one of the biggest events in Geneva. All day, there were many different races for runners, first, the youngest children – those born in 2009, then older and older up to elite runners, and in the evening a more fun run where people ran dressed up in different kinds of costumes. #3 participated in the race, and he was 91st in his age-group, and quite happy with himself.

Jeann @ Happy Indulgence reminds us about Reading for Enjoyment – which is probably why most of us started blogging.

Aentee @ The Social Potato has a post about Reading in a Foreign Language.

What have you been up to this past week? Don’t forget to leave me a link so I can come visit your Sunday Post as well.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’ve enjoyed your weekend, and that next week will be filled with awesome!

  1. Sounds like a fun event! Our weather has been hot or miss too, but we’re not covered in snow so I can’t complain! LOL. Hope your week ahead is good, and warm!

  2. I hear you on the weather thing. It was cold and rainy and miserable three days last week here. Not only was it simply miserable to be out in, but people in DC can’t drive when it’s rainy, so traffic was even worse and more frustrating than on a normal day. Here’s hoping it’s a little better this week! Happy reading!

  3. I saw your comment about ‘those born in 2009’ and thought you must have meant 1999 cos of course anyone born in 2009 would still just be a baby. And then I did the sums and remembered it’s 2015! Argh! I used to think anyone born in the 1980s was young!

    • LOL Deb. I had to look it up, because even if #3 is born in 2002, I had trouble figuring out how young the youngest participants were. I was the same way, those born in the 80s are still younger than me, so they’re young, right? I mean, I am still young (ish)…

  4. It’s been cold and cloudy here all week on the west coast. I actually had to turn the heater on because it was so cold. However cold does make for perfect blanket reading weather. That is unless you have to leave the house. Hopefully this winter won’t last forever. Sounds like while it was cold you had a very productive week. Look at all those books you’ve read and reviewed. I always feel like such a slacker next to you Lexxie. Next year I aspire to read like you do =D I hope you have a great week. Happy reading and fingers crossed for better weather.

    • We had to turn on the central heating a while back, which is completely normal. The fog and just above freezing temperatures are annoying, though, because the humidity makes it feel colder, no matter how well we dress.
I hope I’m not making you feel any pressure, Mandy, I just would rather read than watch TV, and I certainly have enough books to always have something new to read 🙂
      Have a great week yourself!

    • It was a lot of fun! LOL just above freezing isn’t cold enough for me, really… but with the fog and humidity, it’s felt colder than normal, no matter how well we’ve been dressing.
The race was a lot of fun, and he was so happy with himself 🙂

  5. Here we had some warmer weather and a bit more sunshine, but still a lot of dreary weather. It doesn’t make me motivated to do anything beside stay in bed. That’s great that #3 ranked to high in the race, he did great! I’ll have to check out those posts you linked to, they soud interesting. Have a great week!

  6. I also have a hard time picturing those “Millennium Babes” as being old enough to do anything…LOL.

Wow, my kids are OLD…we won’t mention that I am, also…they were born in the 60s and 70s.

    Yikes!

Luckily, it doesn’t get really cold here, (right now, it is 46), but it goes down at night…and I snuggle under the covers. Yes, spoiled. Our summers are very hot, though.

Enjoy your week….and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

    • Eh… age is only a number anyway, right, Laurel-Rain? As long as we are in good health and able to read all is good 🙂
I have two kids who were born in the new millennium, and two before, it is kind of funny to me that even my millennium are growing up.
      Have a great week!

  7. It’s been warm in the mornings here in CenTex, and cold in the afternoons through the night. The weather is so deceptive in Texas. I think it’s bipolar…or has multiple personalities, or both. I feel the same way. I think I suffer from SAD in the wintertime, and as soon as it’s dark my body automatically thinks, “It’s time to go to bed!” even if it’s five o’clock! I am as unmotivated as you during this kind of weather!

The races thing is so cool! I want to work up to running a small marathon, but I’ve got to shed some weight due to my sublaxations in my knees in order to not injure myself in some way. #3 should be celebrating! That is a great accomplishment!

    • Ha! When I was in Dallas in May for RT, there were flash-floods, and I thought for a little while I wouldn’t be able to get back home, as a lot of flights were cancelled that last morning. I’m not used to weather like that, in the middle of Europe, we get less extreme weather, apart from maybe some very cold days during winter, and a few very hot ones in summer.
And I’m the same way with the dark! It’s why it’s going to be funny to go to Norway for Christmas – it gets dark around 2:30 where my family lives, and I know that around 4:30 I’ll be completely wiped out 😀
      Thanks for stopping by, Charlie!

  8. I just got an ARC of My kind of wonderful by Jill Shalvis. I am looking forward to reading it! I have only read one other Jill Shalvis book and I just thought it was okay. But, she is an author people rave about so I am hoping it was just a fluke!

  9. Sounds like a great way to hold a race. Looking forward to Jill Shalvis’ new book! She always delivers a great story. Have a great week.

  10. That sounds like a fun race. Our weather has been weird too. It was raining where we live but when we went to Disneyland it was hot. I still need to read books from Kristen Ashley and Jill Shalvis so I might add them to my 2016 challenges. Have a great week!

kathy recently posted: Weekly Wrap-Up #79
    • I’m so tired of the fog, Kathy! We got some sun yesterday, but today the fog is back 🙁 Disneyland sounds like a lot of fun, even in the heat!
Both Kristen Ashley and Jill Shalvis write books that make me a happy reader, I hope the same will be the case for you 🙂

  11. Weather must be weird all over, Lex. We’ve been cold as well, although it’s been sunny. I had to rake snow from the roof last week because there was so much it was creating an ice dam as it melted (from heater cables as we didn’t get above freezing) and snow melt was coming inside. :/ Hopefully your weather will be a bit better this week!
That day of racing sounds interesting! Is there a special reason for the races? Congrats to #3! I think it’s great that he was 91st in his age group. 😀 Better than I could do! *ha*

    • I wish we would actually get some snow, Brandee, it just makes everything look prettier 🙂 I hope there will be no more snow melt coming inside!
The race was great, I don’t run, so there’s no way I’d ever participate, but #3 did well.

  12. It definitely would be hard to be motivated in that weather! I’m feeling blessed having sunshine right now after months and months of rain. The race sounds really fun. I hope you and yours are fantastic!!

    • It’s really hard to keep my energy levels up when I don’t get any sun at all. I guess I should be happy I don’t live further north, where it’s dark more than it’s light at this time of the year 🙂
      Thanks for stopping by, Jaclyn!
