The Sunday Post #79 – Weekly Wrap-up
Welcome to my Sunday Post. Thank you to Kimba over at The Caffeinated Reviewer, who is hosting this weekly event. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.
This week was very dense! Sitting in on the oral exams, and debating grades was very interesting, but it also took a lot out of me! I had to concentrate on every little thing, take notes of what the students were saying, and be very careful to get the mistakes! Because if someone isn’t happy with their grade, they have a full year to complain, and I’ll have to be able to explain why I gave them the grade I did! The reason why it was so interesting is that some students were really good, and their analysis of Death of a Salesman blew me away! I think I need to do a post on that in the future 🙂
Next week will be normal work and Uni only – which is so nice, it’s going to feel like a vacation. Spring has finally really arrived, with warm sun and lots of pollen. The pollen is killing me this year, hopefully, it will stop bothering me so much.
And of course, I have some pictures of Freddy from this week. I can’t get over how much he’s grown since I picked him up three weeks ago. He’s so playful and cuddly, and he makes us all gooey with his happiness when we get home from somewhere.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’ve enjoyed your weekend, and that next week will be filled with awesome!
Glad next week will be calmer- that does sound stressful having to be so precise. The weather turned nice here too- sunshine all week. Kinda nice for a change. lol. Those pics of Freddy are nice- he’s such a cute dog. 🙂
Have a nice week – and thanks for the shout out!!
I don’t think I’ve had to be so concentrated for a couple of hours straight ever, Greg. It still was very interesting, though.
Time travel for the win!!
I’d be interested in a post about the Death of a Salesman analysis. Aww, Freddy! I love him and want to cuddle him. lol
I’ll get my thoughts together and do that, Christy 🙂 It was really fresh to see how these 18-year-olds analysed it, especially because there were some things they did have a bit of trouble understanding due to the time Death of a Salesman happens in 🙂
You can come visit me and cuddle Freddy any time 😉
oh wow it does sound intense. Anything that requires concentration is intense. Look butterflies, and they bring pollen in their little legs and… what were we talking about… oh yeah.. pollen… allergies. Sorry about your allergies Lex 😉
I hope you get to relax soon and… oh look a puppy pic… of is Freddy. I could eat him!
I’m so glad you are all “gooey with his happiness” 🙂
Yes it was intense, but it was also really interesting. And Daniela, I think it’s time for you to get a couple of hours of shut-eye 😉 *hugs*

I loved Death of a Salesman and would be curious about your post. Glad this week was a little easier and Freddy is adorable. Pollen season sucks..period. Hope this week is amazing my friend!
Death of a Salesman was very interesting, and it was made even more so when I heard what different students had to say about it!
Awwww… Freddy’s such a cutie!
Glad you enjoyed the oral exams though they were tiring. Keen to hear more about the Death of a Salesman analysis. I’m sure I studied it at school but remember NOTHING!
He definitely is a cutie 🙂 He has us all spending our time cuddling and playing withhim!
I think I had read Death of a Salesman before, too, Deb, but I didn’t remember anything about it when I read it before the exam session started…
Ahhh those are the cutest pictures of Freddy! It definitely sounds like he’s enjoying the sunshine. It sounds like it was a very busy time at work for you. It’d definitely be rewarding seeing students go into their analyses based on what you’ve taught them. Have a lovely week ahead Lexxie!
Thank you, Jeann 🙂
It was a busy week, but it was also a very good week 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.
Oh gosh, Freddy is growing, isn’t he! Sounds like it’s been really busy, at least you have some puppy kisses around for whenever you need them!
I look forward to seeing your thoughts on Chloe Neill’s Firespell in a few days!
He’s definitely growing, it’s amazing! He can hardly get into the basket / carrier I used for him when I went to pick him up in Norway three weeks ago. And puppy kisses are made of awesome! He’s always so happy to see us if we’ve been out of sight for a couple of minutes.
It looks like Freddy is very much enjoying springtime in the garden! He really is adorable. I hope you have a less taxing week now the exams are over. Have a great bookish week.
Next week will just be normal 🙂 Still kind of busy, but nothing I’m not used to doing 🙂
Love the weekly dose of Freddy pictures!! SO happy that spring is here too. The weather has been lovely. We too are suffering with allergies. Hopefully they get better. Have a great week.
I’m glad the weekly dose of Freddy pictures are still pleasing 🙂 I’m crossing my fingers for allergies getting better, and sooner or later, I know they will 🙂
My students are reading Death of a Salesman right now!! We had an amazing character analysis discussion on Friday that totally knocked my socks off!
I love the Freddy pictures!!! He is so adorable!
Have a great week!!
That’s great, Samantha! How old are your students? These were last year of high school, but English is their third or fourth language, so it was pretty impressive that they still managed to analyse and really go in depth of the story.
Thanks for stopping by.
My Students are 17 (in their Junior Year here in the US) but they all have a learning disability in reading. So, they read slightly below grade level, they struggle with higher order thinking skills, etc.
I can’t imagine knowing 3-4 languages! Thats just so awesome! (I took Latin in school…so I only speak English!)
That’s actually very interesting to me, Samantha! I’m going to write my MA thesis on foreign language teaching to children with reading disabilities / dyslexia 🙂

That would be hard to grade I think. You don’t have anything to show “your work” on your grading of the student. Glad to hear that next week will be easier for you. I’m so glad that Spring came here too. I’m starting to work with my horses. I’ll probably be riding this week. Yay! Hope you have a great week.
Well, I took notes like crazy, including pronunciation errors and grammatical errors… That was important especially for those who got a low grade, so that if they come and ask why, we can tell them exactly why…
YAY for spring, and for you being able to start working with your horses. I’m sure that’s just wonderful, and I’d love to see some pictures 😉
Ok, I just have to say that Freddy is so friggin adorable. I wish I was getting Spring here. The middle of April and it’s so cold I don’t want to move from under my blanket.
🙂 I think he’s adorable, too 🙂 And I’m so happy nobody is sick of me sharing pics of him yet 😉 I hope spring will arrive in your part of the world soon, too, Marie!
I’m glad this week will be slower for you! Freddy is SO cuuute!!!
i’m really happy this week will be back to normal, too, Tonya Lee!
Awwwww Lexxie your puppy is so so so adorable!! I know everyone is already saying this but it needs to be said 100 times over. Freddy is SO CUTE. All the best with the grading of the oral exams! Being on the receiving end of grades is nerve-wracking enough, I can’t imagine giving them out!!
Oh, I’m not going to complain about you all telling me he’s adorable 🙂 Actually grading exams is really hard! Especially for oral exams, as some of the students were so very nervous.
Thanks for giving my post a shout-out. I love your pictures. Your grass is so green! It’s still snowing where I live.
Your post deserved a shout-out, Aj 🙂 Oh my, still snowing? I’m so happy that’s not the case here anymore!

Your puppy makes me wish I had another puppy but I don’t need one cause I have more than the average person has when it comes to dogs. 🙂 Just call me the dog lady, it’s also stressing me out leaving them during my time at BEA….lol. (I don’t have kids, they are my kids…lol)
I completely understand that your dogs are your kids, Stormi! I feel like I got a new baby when Freddy arrived. And I also understand that it’s stressing you out to leave them during your time at BEA, but you’re going to have so much fun, and the dogs will be very happy to see you when you get back home <3
UGH. My allergies are going CRAZY this week! It doesn’t help that it’s been insanely windy. I just want to lock myself inside and never go out again. Also, of course, FREDDY! 😀 <3
We got some rain today, so I hope that’s kind of stopped some of the pollen at least! We had wind and sun yesterday, and it was awful. Here’s to not having to lock ourselves inside for the foreseeable future.
Lucky! It’s been 80 degrees and windy all week. I’m dying. There is a storm in the forecast but it’s supposed to stay a bit north of us but cause high winds UGH
Happy Sunday!!!! Sounds like you’ve had a very interesting week. I love all the puppy pictures!!! It’s amazing how quickly they grow from little to full size balls of fur. It’s been ages since I’ve seen Death of a Salesman. They did it in school when I was in high school. I hope you have an amazing week. Best wishes!!!
He’s not full size yet, but he sure has grown a lot in the three weeks he’s been with us! I just need to find a way to make him obey me a bit more often than now – I think my next book will be a dog-training book…
Sounds like an intense week…hope this new week is better. It sounds as though things are calming down a bit.
Cute photos of Freddy. Have fun!
Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
It was intense, but interesting, Laurel-Rain. But I sure am happy next week will be calmer 🙂
Freddy is so stinking cute! It’s making me want a puppy.
LOL Samantha… He really is cute, but he’s also a real bundle of energy that needs to be directed – all the time!
I’d be hopeless at examining people as I’d want to help them all! And you’ve made me curious about Death of Salesman, I’ve never read. It would be a great one to read for my classic challenge, so I’m definitely going to do that.
Your puppy is too cute!
I have realized that I’m a pretty strict teacher, and the exams I sat in on weren’t for any students I already knew, so I think it was easier to have a bit of distance.
Death of a Salesman was pretty interesting, Trish, and a very quick read, too. I would like to see the play, now 🙂

I love your Freddy pictures! He looks like he is so much fun to have around 🙂 I finally remembered to come sign up for email again- so hopefully I am back on track with your reviews. Glad you are going to be having a better week than last!
He is a lot of fun to have around, and he’s always ready to share some cuddles, too 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, Lorna!
I can totally get why sitting in on the oral exams took a lot from you. It sounds very tiring and you definitely need to be focused.
Freddy seriously might be the cutest dog!! LOL!! I love these pictures.
Good luck this week and happy reading!! 😉
Yeah, I haven’t really focused on much during the weekend, though, so I should be all good for next week 😉
I’m glad you enjoy my puppy pics, Maureen!
Sounds like the sitting in on oral exams was pretty intense and it requires a lot of concentration. And wow they have a full year to complain? I can imagine why taking notes is so important then. That’s great how well some of the students did 🙂
A normal week after a busy one is always a good thing. I don’t have pollen allergy luckily, my boyfriend does, but only later in the year I think. He’s still fine now. I hope you can take something to help with the allergies.
Gah I love all the Freddy pictures you’re sharing! He’s so fluffy and cute! It must be fun to come home to that!
I really enjoyed Kristen her post about sci-fi, I read it earlier this week. I hope you’ll have a great week!
It definitely requires a lot of concentration, Lola, I was even more tired being the examiner than than I am when I’m taking an exam! Yeah, a full year – which is really long. And I don’t know any of the students, so they were just names on my paper for me, too.
I hope your boyfriend won’t suffer too much from the pollen this year, it’s really hard here, everything started to bloom at the same time, so my allergies are really strong!
Freddy is fluffy, and he’s so cuddly – everything else disappears when I come home and he’s jumping with joy to see me again 🙂
Sounds like figuring out grades can be quite tough!! I’m glad it was an interesting experience though. Yay for a slightly less stressful week coming up! Freddy is adorable. I just love coming home to my own dog and her enthusiasm!
-Lauren
It was really very interesting, and I enjoyed how original some of the students dared to be with their analysis 🙂
He is just adorable, we have been watching a lot of Crusoe the Celebrity Dachshund this week, they are such awesome dogs!
Have a great week!
LOL Crusoe is so much fun! My boys loved the video of him playing hockey!!
Twitter: limabean74
Sorry things were so crazy but I am hoping all goes well. I am glad they did so well. YAY!!
OMG FREDDY!!! Is just the cutest! I can’t get over those little legs. He looks like a great cuddlier.
Only a few more weeks! I am getting so excited! I can’t wait to see you in person!
Have a great week, Lexxie! Happy Reading! ox
LOL I’m mostly used to dogs with short legs like Freddy, as my grandma had a dachshund, and my mom has one as well 🙂
I can’t wait to see you in person either, Michelle! It’s going to be so much fun! I can hardly sleep already because of the excitement 😀
A YEAR to contest grades? It just goes to show how teachers have to have immaculate records! O.o
I know, right? That’s just too long… I have to make sure I keep those notes in a very secure place so that I can find them straight away if I ever need to.
Look at Freddy growing and playing outdoors! ♥.♥ Love the pics of him my friend! Sorry your week was so hectic but at least the coming week will be better for ya! Enjoy it Lexxie^^ xx
He’s growing so fast! He doesn’t even fit in the carrier I brought him home in anymore 😀
I seriously think you might have one of the cutest puppies in existence. I would be a gooey puddle every time I got home too!
Your week of sitting on oral reports sounds kind of stressful but also kind of interesting. I’ve never seen/read that play (it is a play, right?), but I’m glad you found some insightful things in their reports 🙂
Thanks for linking to my post, and have a great week!
Ha! I’m not going to even try to contradict you, Kristen, as I agree whole-heartedly 😉
It’s a play, yes, and it is quite short in writing – very interesting with a skewed view of The American Dream…
Aww Freddy is so cute!! Definitely a keeper 😉 bad news about the pollen though, I’ve been dreading it. I hope it lightens up for you soon. A huge WHOOPIE!! For the exams being done! Sounds like you could do with a spa weekend. It’s nice to have it all done though knowing you’ve done a good job.
Have yourself a very well deserved break!
Have a great week Lexxie,
Amy x
Ha! Good thing he’s a keeper, right, Amy? Today is better with pollen, as it’s raining. Not all that often I’m happy with so much rain…
There’s sadly no spa weekend in my near future, but I have lots of other fun things planned, so I’ll be OK.
Makes you feel all gooey. That comment made me grin big. He is such a cutie and you can share his pictures anytime! That are delightful. Here’s to a calmer week to come, Lexxie:)
He does make me feel all gooey – he’s so sweet, cuddly and playful! I don’t understand why I didn’t want a puppy before now!
It’s good to hear this week will be back to normal. It must have been hard to stay focused on the presentations. I was at a training class this week and spaced out a couple times while the instructor was speaking lol. Freddy is adorable and pets do make us feel happy. I hope you have a great week!
It was definitely a lot of concentration to stay focussed like that, Kathy, but it was so interesting, it was worth it.
Twitter: Kissinbluekaren
Freddy is too cute! I am sure he makes your day brighter just by existing, my Buster makes my day when I come home. So glad to hear this week will be back to “normal” for you. Happy reading, have a great week!
He does make our day brighter just by existing! Even a trip to the bathroom is worthy of a celebration from him when we come back 😀
debating grades sounds interesting. I got to do that in one class in college. I was awesome. LOL
It was definitely interesting, and eye-opening, too!
Freddy is adorableness! A year to complain about their grade? Whaaaat? That is some kind of crazy. Glad I don’t have to deal with that in public education. That just sounds so draining. Here’s to a recharged week!
Yeah, I year feels like forever! If someone is going to complain, I think they’ll do it fairly quickly, though, as they graduate in June, and if they want to go to Uni, they’ll need all grades to be passing before the fall.
And this is public education in Switzerland, Charlie…
Public education in the States is drastically different. That is something more for university level than K-12. At K-12 in the States, it would be the parent(s) complaining in most cases, not the student. As if districts don’t roll over for parents enough…
Here, the whole system is different, Charlie. There are 8 years of primary school, the three years of what is probably junior high, and then another four years of senior high, so that’s 15 years of school before university… And the students in the last year are over 18, so they would have to complain themselves…
That probably makes a world of difference. Universities in the States are complaining that students are not ready for college, not learning what they need to. Students are coming to 6th grade and cannot write a simple, complete sentence. They go to high school complaining about reading assignments. Something needs to change.
Yeah, but having to start school at 4 is early, and 15 years of compulsory school is a lot! At the same time, I’m very happy my children are learning so much during those years.
We’re also very lucky because university is almost free, here.
It’s sad when children change school levels and don’t really have the necessary skills to make it without having to work very, very hard!
Spring and pollen is on its way here too, and I can´t exactly say I´m looking forward to it.
Sorry to hear about the pollen being so bad this year. I was worried about it on Saturday (I was doing yard work in the morning and had a choir concert at night) so I pre-medicated. It worked – I guess.
The best way to relax…playing ball with Freddie. Just looking at those photos makes me smile and I can feel some tension ease out of my shoulders. 🙂 Of course, there are other stress inducing puppy factors too. He’s just so tiny and cute!
Hope your week is going well.
It’s been raining quite a bit this week, so my allergies have gotten much better 🙂
Playing ball with Freddy is awesome :)Thanks for stopping by, Xyra 🙂
I’d be very interested in hearing about how your students did with analyzing Death of a Salesman. It does sound interesting – sitting in on the exams – if taxing. I’m glad this week will be easier for you even if the pollen and your allergies are probably wearing you out! My week will seem very strange since it’s essentially ‘starting’ today. 😉
**BIG HUGS**
This week was so much slower and nicer, Brandee 😀 *BIG HUGS*
