Mixing business with pleasure never felt so right.

Blake Buchanan and Anastasia Delaney were roommates in college and could never see eye to eye about anything. The only time their walls came down was during one night of passion before Ana left without a word, never expecting to cross paths with Blake again.

Years later, Blake has made his millions. He comes back to Ana’s small California town to manage a corporate takeover that will close down the home restoration business she’s poured her heart and soul into. The fiery Ana is determined to convince money-minded Blake of her business’s worth, but when a family emergency throws them together, their walls come tumbling down once again…

Problem is, Blake’s business-first position hasn’t changed. And Ana can’t fall for the man who could become her boss—it’s not only her job at stake, but her heart.

Tangling with the CEO is a fun, quick read full of romance and some situations that are pretty unreal. From the first time Ana and Blake meet again, their chemistry is palpable, and it’s obvious that they have unfinished business. However, instead of telling Blake about her business proposition, Ana gets stuck helping Blake care for his five nieces and nephews for the weekend, while Blake tells her he’s upset because a business appointment fell through.

Filled with both chemistry and fun moments, Tangling with the CEO is also a truly tangled story! Blake and Ana both have their own agendas, even if none of them have been able to forget that one night they spent together ten years ago. I enjoyed reading about both of them, their interactions are genuine, even if neither of them share everything that is on their minds. I also loved how involved in her community Ana is, and that she tries to make money while still helping all those in need of her skills.

As they get to know each other again as adults, they feel that same attraction, but at the same time, they also want to be really careful. Ana is trying to save her company, and Blake’s job is to fire her – he just don’t know that yet. There is a lot of humor in Tangling with the CEO, and I always appreciate having a good laugh while reading a good story. And even if it is a quite short story, it still felt very much accomplished to me, there is a true beginning, middle and end, and that is not always the case when there are only 200 pages to read.

The characters are well developed, I even got to know some of the side-characters quite well. I liked that Ana is basically a ‘handy-man’, she restored old houses, built new trimmings for windows and cupboards and was able to climb up to a roof to fix a hole. I find it very refreshing to read about a woman who knows how to do more manual stuff, and doesn’t really need to have a man in her life – she just wants to have a man in her life. And her friends are great assets to the story as well, three women taking care of restoring houses and doing all the work themselves while chatting and being great friends made Tangling with the CEO a very good story.

The writing is very fluid, so that helped to make Tangling with the CEO a very quick read. The tangling between Ana and Blake was very well done, and the readers really got to see both of their points of views, their doubts and their hopes. If you are looking for a contemporary romance to hold your hand for a little while, you should definitely go and find Tangling with the CEO and sit down for a few hours of bliss 🙂

At least the twins were watching cartoons on the television. Dora the Explorer had kept them entertained on and off all day, and he’d barely had time for even a twinge of guilt about the junk food he’d fed them. One day of cookies and chips wouldn’t stunt their growth, surely?

They’d been thrown together in this crisis and she was seeing a side to him that wasn’t real. As soon as he talked business, she could see the hard businessman beneath the soft uncle exterior.

One day she would find the time to finish the various restoration projects she’d started here. Compared to Blake’s house, her home looked like a – well, if she was completely honest, like a junk shop.

He had a wonderful memory of swimming to his dad unaided for the first time as a six-year-old, calling triumphantly to his mother and Jeannie, who watched form the shore. That was what he wanted from life.

  1. Sounds like a real fluffy read, Lexxie. What I am interested in is the thing that happened between them 10 years ago. I always love romances that are about two leads sharing a past then not seeing each other for a few years then at some point, they will meet again. I am always excited to see how they will handle the situation.

And this one would have been really awkward because they met again in a rough situation wherein Blake will fire Ana. Waaa. So happy to know that you had a lot of fun reading this one. 😀

    Lovely review, Lexxie.
