The Sunday Post # – Weekly Wrap-up

Welcome to my Sunday Post. Thank you to Kimba over at The Caffeinated Reviewer, who is hosting this weekly event. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

I haven’t been very good at visiting other blogs this week, sorry about that! But when I haven’t been at the beach with my daughter, I have been reading research and writing my second paper that is actually due on Monday. I am almost finished now. The paper is about the function of love triangles in YA dystopias, and I am comparing to how love triangles worked in medieval poems… It may be a very big task, but it’s a lot of fun, too… at least it will hopefully feel like fun once it’s behind me 😉

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’ve enjoyed your weekend, and that next week will be filled with awesome!

  1. I hope you got your paper done Lexxie. I’m sure it’ll be great!

And it’s also great you got to head to the beach as well… a nice balance there!

Whew! I bet you’re glad you got that paper finished! That has to be a stress reliever for sure and kudos on such an awesome topic to write about! Ah…if only I could make my way to your neck of the woods for a quick beach visit, all would be so right in life. (lol) I think most of us regulars are falling behind with Blog visits these days. I haven’t been seeing my normal buddies, and I haven’t had the time either to visit like I normally do. Seems like a mix of the summer, more blogger visits, work and family time. I hope to catch up soon myself. Happy Sunday! Ro

    • It’s actually not completely finished yet… I need a few more pages, but I also need some time to think, relax and spend time with my daughter. I’m glad you think the topic is good!

Can you imagine how much fun we could have on a beach visit together, Ro? That would be great 🙂 And I have to say I’m glad I’m not the only one lagging when it comes to visiting other blogs these days.

  3. I’m so jealous you take a lot of vacations! And they are sound so fun! You make me wish I lived in Europe ..just hop on over to another country! 🙂 I remember when I visited Germany that I didn’t want to leave…lol. Sounds like you are having fun with your daughter. 🙂

Hope you have a great week!

  4. Good Luck with your paper, it sounds very interesting, you should make it a blog post 🙂
I loved your beach picture and how awesome that you can sit and enjoy that. Yesterday we went to the pool and I realized how luck we are to have such a great place to go in the summer! I am glad you are enjoying your time with your little one. I am off to go on vacation now 🙂 just couldn’t not come by to visit.

Have a great week, Lexxie! Happy Reading! ox

    • Thanks, Michelle! It would be a very long blog-post,though, because my paper has to be 10-12 pages long, with research, articles, and quotes as well 🙂 I am having some fun with it though, and if my professors enjoy it, it could become my MA thesis paper… even if I plan on doing that on something to do with teaching foreign languages.

  5. That actually sounds like an interesting paper to research, I love YA dystopia … I’ve no doubt about the hard work but nice that it’s also fun. And yay for beach time! I’m so behind on Nalini Singh books … *sigh* oh for more hours in a day. Have a great week and happy reading 🙂

    • I know how you feel, Aj, I’m working on my MA too, but because I’ve done a seminar called romance remediation, where love triangles were very much present, I figured I could do that with a much more contemporary angle. I hope my professor will agree 😀
      Thanks for stopping by!

    • Thanks Renee… I am focusing more on the Shatter Me series (which is the one I picked, because the love triangle gives so much agency to Juliette – from being in her cell to having two boys fight for her)… but I did say something about love triangles and how they are present in all narratives that are known to us know.
      Have a great week yourself!

  6. Sounds like you had a nice and productive week. Good Luck with finishing your paper! Sounds like an interesting topic, I am curious what your conclusion wil be. I have read quite some dystopia’s with love triangles, it sure seems to be a genre with lots of them.

  7. Your paper sounds really interesting and I hope you would post it. Love triangles seem to be a sure thing in YA dystopian and it can be irritating. This is a great topic you have chosen. Have a great week!

    • It seems my topic is interesting for more than just me… Maybe I will post it later, but there’s a lot of quotes from articles etc, so it might be a little bit dry to have on the blog, we shall see 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.

  8. Paper sounds interesting but still a lot of research and writing! Hope it goes well. I loved Shards of Hope, and see you loved it too. I want to try one of the angels books by J R Ward at some point. Have a great reading week.

    • Thank Kathryn. It’s all sent off, now, and I’m happy I still have a few weeks left before school, work and uni start once more 🙂 Ward’s angels are quite different from your ‘normal’ angels in literature, Kathryn… Thanks for stopping by, have a great reading week yourself.

    • I’ve just sent it off to my professor now. It’s pretty long, so not sure if it would fit in a blog post, but I’ll see once I get the result… It was quite fun to write, but also difficult to find academic articles that deal with love triangles in general, and those that happen in YA in particular. If my professors enjoy this paper, it could be transformed into my MA thesis, and possible be the introduction to that. We shall see 😀
Thanks for stopping by, Jeann. Have a lovely week yourself!
