The Sunday Post #57 – Weekly Wrap-up

Welcome to my Sunday Post. Thank you to Kimba over at The Caffeinated Reviewer, who is hosting this weekly event. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

Last night, my oldest daughter and I went to a concert in the small local venue again, and we got to spend a fantastic evening listening to, singing along with, and dancing to Charlie Winston! It’s always lovely to spend an evening with my oldest, I’m so thankful to have a close and very friendly relationship with her. The concert was so good – Winston was in great form, and so was the audience! He even went off the stage and walked among the audience during one song – all on his own! And at one point, he talked about how the refugee crisis has touched him, and that we had to be able to see the mass of refugees as individuals so we wouldn’t be afraid of them. Just as he had to see us in the audience as individuals and not a mass of people. We also managed to be very close to the stage, which made our experience even better!

  1. Wow, looks like a great show. I agree, smaller venues are the best way to see live acts.

Great reviews of Need, I have that one to read next and have been looking forward to it, Glad it was good! 🙂

  2. that awesome that you and your daughter have such a close relationship, I am the same way with my mom and love it <3 the concert really looked like a lot of fun!

  3. It has been too long since I attended a concert…I still recall the surge of energy and the thrill of it, of course. We have a great venue for concerts not too far from where I live, so I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled in the next few weeks to see what’s coming for New Year’s.

Enjoy your week….and thanks for visiting my blog.

    • It was a great show, and what he said is so true! All those refugees are human beings who are being forced to flee from their house, their hometown and their country. It’s hard to understand just how difficult that must be. I can’t imagine trekking across several countries with my children and a few belongings just to try to reach somewhere we could feel safe!
      Thanks for stopping by, Bea.

  4. I am glad to hear you had fun at the cocnert, must be nice to do things like that together with your daughter! And standing close to the podium must make the experience even better.

Thanks for linking to my post about love triangles! Have a great week Lexxie!

  5. I love your post… thank you for sharing your concert fun with your oldest kidlet. I always forget that some of us, meaning YOU, are in places on the opposite side of the world, and have completely different current events affecting your lives than we do. This is the second time I’ve heard mention of the refugees coming across but I’m actually clueless what is going on. And that is a truly sad statement. I really need to get up to speed on what’s going on around the world…

On a much happier note – WOOT! Sawyer Bennett rocks! I need to get back to her books 😉

Seriously, have a great week, girl!! 🙂

    • I think it’s normal that we know quite a bit about what’s happening in our own region, and less about what happens elsewhere in the world, Kristin. Refugees are arriving here in Geneva, too, and we have donated a lot of children’s clothes since it gets very cold here in the winter, and a lot of people only had a backpack with their most prized possessions when they arrived.
Sawyer Bennet definitely rocks! I hope you’ll get a chance to pick up more of her books soon 🙂

Oh the concert with your daughter sounds like such a nice evening! I’m.not a concert person, but family time is always a plus 🙂 How’d your writing go? I hope you made some good progress so end of semester won’t be too stressful! Hugs 🙂

  7. Sounds like you had a fun time. I keep checking our local venues for some performances. It is always nice to have a small venue and the artist can be more laid back instead of worrying about a huge production. Hope you have a great week!

  8. Glad to hear you have a great relationship with your daughter. I am blessed to have a great relationship with both my daughter and my mom.

  9. Omigosh, Lexxie! He sounds amazing! I’m so happy you and #1 got to see Charlie together. It is so nice to have a close-knit family, isn’t it? Sky and I went to see A Silent Film a few weeks ago and it was great. I hope to continue doing things like that with her. OH, we’re seeing MuteMath in April!! Woohoo! Thanks for sharing the videos. I hope your weekend was wonderfully relaxing…or at least wonderful! 😉
    **BIG HUGS**

    • He is truly amazing, Brandee! And it was so nice to be able to see him in concert. #1 and I also decided that we’ll have to find an artist so we can bring #4 along next time to have a real girls night out 🙂
Having a close-knit family is the best! I love that we do so many different things together, and I love that you have the same thing with your family, Brandee 🙂
My weekend was quite relaxing, and definitely wonderful 🙂 *BIG HUGS*

    • We certainly did, Heather! Pre-teen is luckily somewhat worse than actual teen years IMO… I still have a 10-y-o daughter too, and she’s acting out a bit these days 😀 I’m sure all will be god between you and your daughter as she grows up a bit.
