Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts #118
Welcome to Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts, an original weekly meme hosted here at (un)Conventional Bookviews. So many of the books I read have food or drinks in them, some I’d love to try, and others I’d never ever want to taste… and I thought it could be interesting and fun to share some food and / or drink quotes… If you want to participate, you can grab my logo if you’d like, or you can make your own, but please link back to me in your own post.
The idea of Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts is to share a quote with food or drinks that showed up in a recent read, as well as if it’s something you think you’d like or not. Please share the title of the book it happened in, as well as the character who ate or drank the special little something you discovered between the pages of a good read. Please link up beneath, and visit other bloggers who are participating in Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts as well.
This week, my delicious Hungry Hearts quote is from Claim & Protect by Rhenna Morgan. It’s the story of a single mom and her boss… and her son, and her twisted ex. It was really well done, and made me want to read the prior books in the Haven Brotherhood series.
My Hungry Hearts quote:
Following Trevor’s lead, Levi slid back into his chair. “Mom made chocolate and peanut butter cookies for dessert. They’re my favorite.”
“You only get them if you eat your meatloaf and all of your veggies,” Natalie said. Levi wrinkled his nose and lowered his voice just for Trevor. “The meatloaf’s awesome, but I have to hold my nose for the Brussels sprouts. They’re gross.” Well he wasn’t gonna fight the kid on that one. He’d probably have to do the same, but if it helped Nat get decent food down her kid’s gullet, he’d suck it up.
Maureen took her seat and handed Trevor a heaping bowl of mashed potatoes. From there, everything settled into an easy rhythm. Not at all the awkward yet polite conversation he’d expected, but a light, welcome banter more on par with his meals at Haven. What’s more, Natalie and her mom could cook. Outside of Bonnie’s kitchen, he didn’t know how many people who could to a meatloaf justice, but these two women knew how to do right, complete with some kind of sauce that packed a serious kick.
Thanks for stopping by today, I look forward to reading your Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts quote. Have a terrific Thursday and don’t forget to link up.
Meatloaf, brussel sprouts, mashed potatoes, AND cookies. I would eat it all and not even need to hold my nose because I like brussel sprouts 🙂
Just this little snippet gave me the warm & fuzzies. I’m going to have to check out this story. I loved Levi whispering about brussel sprouts! 🙂 Great quote, wifey! <3
