The idea of Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts is to share a quote with food or drinks that showed up in a recent read, as well as if it’s something you think you’d like or not. Please share the title of the book it happened in, as well as the character who ate or drank the special little something you discovered between the pages of a good read. This week, my Thirsty Thursday quote is from The Schemer by Avery Flynn. It’s from Everly’s gallery opening night, and the wine makes an appearance more than once 😉

My Thirsty Thursday quote:

“Is everything all right?” he asked, ready to reach for his wallet if necessary. “Well,” Helen said, her dissatisfaction obvious in the pinched look to her mouth. “The wine is horrible, but it always is at events like this.”

He waved his hand, gesturing to the gallery now empty except for two waiters picking up the very last of the trash and giving Helene a wide berth, before turning to face her. “If you still spent most of your days maneuvering your sons into doing what you wanted them to do, then you wouldn’t be here with bad wine and good art.”
“Great art,” Everly corrected, her voice strong and sure behind him.
