Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts

Welcome to Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts, an original weekly meme hosted here at (un)Conventional Bookviews. So many of the books I read have food or drinks in them, some I’d love to try, and others I’d never ever want to taste… and I thought it could be interesting and fun to share some food and / or drink quotes…  If you want to participate, you can grab my logo if you’d like, or you can make your own, but please link back to me in your own post.

The idea of Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts is to share a quote with food or drinks that showed up in a recent read, as well as if it’s something you think you’d like or not. Please share the title of the book it happened in, as well as the character who ate or drank the special little something you discovered between the pages of a good read. Please link up beneath, and visit other bloggers who are participating in Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts as well.

This week, my Hungry Hearts quote is from a book I just finished reading – Ain’t He Precious (Sex and Sweet Tea #1) by Juliette Poe. This series is set in a Southern town, and the whole atmosphere is just cute. There is romance. Strong family ties. And a second chance at love. And Ry has just arrived in the town o Whynot to help Trixie with a court case. It is evident from the get-go that their story is not over. Not by a long shot. Even if they haven’t seen each other in eleven years! Ry is a little anxious meeting all of Trixie’s family for the first time – but food makes everything better.

My Hungry Hearts Quote:

“Okay, everyone… dig in while the food is hot,” Catherine says as she reaches forward and grabs a bowl of in front of her. Everyone else dose the same. Since there’s so much food, there’s a bowl for every single person. I reach for the macaroni and cheese I’d been eyeballing since I sat down.
The bowls and platters go counter-clockwise around the table, everyone chattering away. Trixie leans in every once in a while to describe something.
“Those are halupkis. Cabbage-stuffed rolls.”
“Collard greens. Try them with some of that hot pepper sauce.”
“Cheese and potato pierogi.”
“Mama’s famous fried chicken,” she says as I pull a chicken leg off the platter.
“Yeah, Trixie.” I chuckle. “Figured that one out.” When I’m done, I have a pile of American southern, Lithuanian, and Polish cuisine on my plate, a mixture most people will never see in their lifetime. Each bite I take is absolutely delicious.

    Sounds so yummy! I would kill for some good ole’ southern Macaroni and Cheese… and then it would probably make me super sick. I also just love the cover of that book. Going to have to check it out – I enjoy books set in small southern towns.

    Hope your week is going well. {{BIG HUGS}}

  2. And you could imagine just what the fried chicken and collard greens tasted like, yeah? 😉 Southern, Lithuanian, and Polish does make for quite the combination but they seem to go together! 😀
    {{{BIG HUGS}}} & LOVE!!
