Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts #74

Welcome to Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts, an original weekly meme hosted here at (un)Conventional Bookviews. So many of the books I read have food or drinks in them, some I’d love to try, and others I’d never ever want to taste… and I thought it could be interesting and fun to share some food and / or drink quotes…  If you want to participate, you can grab my logo if you’d like, or you can make your own, but please link back to me in your own post.

The idea of Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts is to share a quote with food or drinks that showed up in a recent read, as well as if it’s something you think you’d like or not. Please share the title of the book it happened in, as well as the character who ate or drank the special little something you discovered between the pages of a good read. Please link up beneath, and visit other bloggers who are participating in Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts as well.

Today, I’m sharing a hungry hearts quote from Nalini Singh’s Rock Wedding – which I loved (but I’ve been far to lazy to write up my review so far…) – and there were so many to choose from I just may use the same book next week!

My Hungry Hearts quote:

“Come on, I’ll make you my famous omelet.”
She laughed, and it was a startling thing to have her lips curve up instead of down, to feel the knot in her chest begin to loosen. “You make terrible omelets.” The last time he’d made her one during a silly, fun weekend when he’d stayed home the entire time, it was only half-cooked and she’d had to pick out pieces of shell.
It was one of her happiest memories of their marriage – seeing Abe grin as he banged pots and pans and declared himself her personal chef for the weekend.
“It’s the thought that counts.” His grin hit her hard as they got out of the SUV, reality colliding with memory.

Thanks for stopping by today, I look forward to reading your Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts quote. Have a terrific Thursday and don’t forget to link up.

  1. I love a good omelette (as evidenced by my entry last week), and it’s interesting how the author can use the memory of an omelette to show quite a bit about the relationship between those two characters.

I’ve been meaning to check out that author, but no idea where to start :/

    • 🙂 I have so many food-quotes from this one book, I could use it for a couple of weeks more 🙂 You’re right, she does manage to show some relationship dynamics just with that food quote.
In order to steer you in the right direction, let me know what you prefer – contemporary romance, or paranormal romance. If it’s paranormal, what kinds of paras do you prefer? (wolves, vampires etc).

  2. How sweet, and yes, it’s the thought that counts, I say, as I remember the burnt toast and hard eggs offerings from my kids on Mother’s Days in the past.

    Thanks for sharing…
