Top Ten Tuesday – Top Ten books when you need something light and fun

This week on Top Ten Tuesday, we share the Top Ten books we turn to when we want to read something light and fun. Top Ten Tuesdays is a fun meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we share our excitement for books, and I really like how this meme makes me think about the books I read, why I read them, and who to recommend my favorite reads to. So, here we go :

As usual, my Top Ten Tuesday books are named in no particular order, and they will mostly be light romances because that’s both light and fun in my opinion ๐Ÿ˜‰

1)ย reluctant reaperThe Reluctant Reaper by Gina X. Grant has to be mentioned, because I’m sure I’ll find it on my kindle if I’m in need of a good laugh, some hot romance and lots of wordplay! I have rarely laughed so much while reading! It is also a quick read, which is sometimes just as important as the humor and the romance if I’m feeling a little down. I will check out other books written by her as well – that’s how much I loved this one!

2) Lord Midnight (un)Conventional BookviewsLord Midnight by Donna Cummings deserves a mention as well – it fits everything I said about my lighten-up books! It’s quick, it’s fun, and there is romance as well as a sexy highwayman! Her other books that I’ve read are also filled with mystery and romance, and I love her humor!

3) one grave at a timeOne Grave at a Time, or any other book by Jeaniene Frost! I love the mix of paranormal romance and a strong female lead, who still will drool over her man when the time is right ๐Ÿ˜‰

4) Circle of Friends - (un)Conventional BookviewsCircle of Friends by Maeve Binchy is one of my all time favorite books. The story, the characters, the setting – it’s all perfect. And even if it isn’t as light as most books I prefer when I’m in the mood for something light, it is so beautiful it just had to make my list.

5) Forever and a Day - (un)Conventional Bookviews Forever and a Day, or another Jill Shalvis book, as they always hit the spot. Hot alpha-male, strong female character, romance and some really hot smexy times!

6) The Scandalous, Dissolute, No Good Mr. Wright - (un)Conventional Bookviews Tessa Dare’s The Scandalous, Dissolute, no Good Mr. Wright is excellent as well – lots of fun, beautiful dresses, and the way the ton always looks down it’s nose.

7) Deep Autumn Heat - (un)Conventional BookviewsDeep Autumn Heat by Elisabeth Barrett is a light romance with excellent scenes.

8)Dead Until Dark - (un)Conventional Bookviews Dead Until Dark, or any other Sookie Stackhouse novel by Charlaine Harris. Especially the first few books in the series are a lot of fun to read, and Sookie is the kind of heroine who seems to be a little slow – but there is a very good reason for that!

9) The Wages of Sin - (un)Conventional Bookviews The Wages of Sin, or one of the other Cin Craven books by Jenna Maclaine. Cin is a great heroine – and there is a mixture of complex witchcraft and really cool vampires in this series. The romance is well written, too, and I am still hoping there will be more books in this series!

10) The Sweet Scent of Blood - (un)Conventional Bookviews The Sweet Scent of Blood, or one of the other Spellcrackers.com books by Suzanne McLeod. The faeries in this series are different from those in other books I’ve read, and Genevieve is a great heroine, a little clumsy sometimes, but she always lands on her feet. The mix of urban fantasy and paranormal romance set in London is very well done!

This week, I could have gone on forever! There are quite a few books and series I like to go back to when I want something light and fun – it’s very rare that I actually re-read a whole book because there are just too many new books out there, waiting to be discovered. But some authors write books that always hit the right spot – and their books are the ones I’ve listed.

What about you? What are your top ten books for when you want some light and fun? Please share your Top Ten Tuesday link in the comments, so I can come and check it all out – and who knows, I just might add more books to my TBR (again!).

  1. Even though I have only read the first in the series I would have to agree with The Night Huntress series. I also love Sookie Stackhouse as well. I have the Tessa Dare book but haven’t had a chance to read it yet. ๐Ÿ™‚

Lots of good books and I love just for fun reads!

    • Some times, it’s really nice when you wait for a series to be all written before you start reading it ๐Ÿ™‚ The Sookie Stackhouse series’ last book was just released this week, so that’s one to start with soon.
I love The Night Huntress series, and I hope you’ll like it as well, when you get to it.
      Thanks for stopping by, Micheline!
