Top Ten Tuesday – Top Ten beach reads
This week on Top Ten Tuesday we are discussing books we consider beach reads; this can mean a light romance, something you read only when you’re on vacation, books you drag with you each time you go to the beach – you name it. I have chosen ten books I read while actually being at the beach during my last vacations – I wish I was on the beach right now, and maybe thinking of these books will warm me up a little. Top Ten Tuesdays is a fun meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we share our excitement for books, and I really like how this meme makes me think about the books I read, why I read them, and who to recommend my favorite reads to. So, here we go :
As usual, my list is in no particular order :
The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater is a very different novel with sea-horses, a dangerous race and exceptional protagonists!
Born of Silence by Sherrilyn Kenyon, I love The League series, it’s fantasy and science fiction, with characters living elsewhere in the universe, and the characters have pretty tough back-stories, but deal with what they have to deal with anyway.
Certain Girls by Jennifer Weiner is the 2nd book about Cannie Shapiro, and as much time has passed for Cannie as it has for the readers who first read Good in Bed when it was first released.
The first three books, I read while on the beach on the island Lanzarote, which is one of the Canary islands. That vacation was in October 2012.
Gameboard of the Gods by Richelle Mead. This is not exactly light reading, as the whole story happens in a futuristic world, with complicated world-building, mythology and different technology.
Clockwork Princess by Cassie Clare. The last in her Infernal Devices series, this took me back to a steampunky London, and also to the present (for me).
Twice Tempted by Jeaniene Frost – this was hot in all the right ways, and I loved reading more about Vlad 🙂
*sighs* Lover at Last by J. R. Ward finally gave me the long awaited story of two of my favorite vampires in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series.
The above four books were enjoyed while I was in South Beach, Miami at the beginning of April this year 🙂
Lust for Life by Jeri Smith-Ready is the last book in her lovely WVMP Radio series, and I loved it.
Where the Four Winds Collide by Hildie McQueen is a fun historical western romance, complete with cowboys, a saloon with loose women and a very mean ex-fiancé.
The First Rule of Swimming by Courtney Angela Brkic is a beautiful and tender story about family, emigration, war and reunion.
These last few books were packed on my kindle when I was in Italy for a long-weekend in May.
What about you? What are your top ten beach reads? Thanks for stopping by – happy reading!
I thought about including Good in Bed — til I remembered the really sad parts. 🙁 But I do love that book, and Certain Girls as well. You’ve got a few here that I’d really like to check out. That cowboy/western book sounds like fun! Great list!

The Cowboy/western romance was really good. It’s always nice to read something that’s a little different.
Thanks for stopping by Lisa 🙂
Interesting list of books with great variety. You sure had some choices on your Kindle.
My kindle is awesome! There are books in so many genres on it, I would never get bored or run out of books.
Thanks for stopping by, Ciska.
Great list! I love Clockwork Princess too, but it makes me too emotional to read on the beach;)

Another fab top 10! Gameboard of the Gods & TID series are two books I own – thinking I’ll be diving in to GotG soon…The Scorpio Races & anything by Jeaniene Frost is on the wish list for sure 😀 I love the variety of choices you have here Lexxie!!
Thanks Micheline 🙂 There are so many awesome authors AND books it’s usually impossible for me to make a real choice, which is why I mentioned those I recently read while at the beach 😉
Have a great day.
Great list Lexxie. I just requested all 3 Clockwork books on audio from my library. I still can’t believe they had them all 🙂
That’s excellent! I hope you’ll like them!
Thanks for stopping by Laurie 🙂
