Top Ten Tuesday #4 – Books I have resolved to read in 2013

Posted 1 January, 2013 by Linda @ (un)Conventional Bookworms in Top Ten Tuesday / 0 Comments

toptentuesdayThe first day of 2013 is also the day of the first Top Ten Tuesday of the New year. I wish everybody a very happy, healthy, fun, exciting year, filled with amazing books and new friends. Top Ten Tuesdays is a fun meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we share our excitement for books – either upcoming books or as this week, books we have resolved to reading soon, because we own them already or because they’re part of a series and we just can’t wait. So without further ado: the Top Ten books I have resolved to read in 2013:

  1. A Prisoner of Birth by Jeff Archer. I have had this book on my kindle for quite a while, but I just haven’t gotten to it yet. I am not so sure what to expect, between it being compared to Dumas, and being a masterpiece thriller… Time will tell.
  2. Les Enfants de la Liberté by Marc Levy is another book I own, and I bought it after several friends recommended it to me. After that, it’s just been collecting dust on my bookshelf, and that just won’t do!
  3. Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison. This is a series I have heard much about and it’s one I would like to start, it is also already on my kindle, so that helps 🙂
  4. Hopeless by Colleen Hoover. I am really looking forward to reading this one, as I loved both Slammed and Point of Retreat. I am trying to not be too excited, though, as sometimes when I expect a lot of books, I end up being a little disappointed.
  5. Cathedral of the Sea by Ildefonso Falcones is yet another book I bought for my kindle after several recommendations, and it’s begging me to read it now!
  6. The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead 🙂 This is a book I really look forward to, as I usually enjoy all the books written by Ms. Mead, and I love the universe created in the Vampire Academy universe, and Bloodlines and The Golden Lily got me hooked on Sydney’s story as well.
  7. Lust For Life by Jeri Smith-Ready. I love the WVMP Radio series, and this book is the last installment, which makes me want to wait to read it, while at the same time I’m really impatient to know what is going to happen!
  8. All my friends have been going on and on about The Fault in our Stars by John Green, and I got this book just before Christmas, so I guess I need to buy a big pack of tissues and start reading 🙂
  9. Another recommendation from friends and fellow bloggers is Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout. This one is also already on my kindle… I think I could almost reach my 2013 challenge by only reading books I already own.
  10. Heroes Under Siege by Susan Bischoff is the third book in The Talent Chronicles, and I love this series – it is a different paranormal book, with really attaching characters.

What books have you resolved to read in 2013? Please do share, I really don’t mind adding a few more books to my TBR pile 🙂

  1. The Cathedral of the Sea was recommended to me, too and here it’s so cheap that I think I will buy a copy sooner or later ^^
I am really tempted to start some of Richelle Mead’s work – probably the Vampire Academy series – I’ve heard she’s a great author!
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green is also on my top 10 list 🙂

    Thank you for stopping by!
    I hope you’ll have a great 2013

    • It’s so hard not to buy books when they are really cheap! I keep piling them all up. I hope you’ll like the Vampire Academy series, I loved that, but not all of my friends did.
Thanks for stopping by, Sarah 🙂

  2. Fault in our stars: It made me an instant John Green fan 😀
Dead Witch Walking is the first book in Hollows Series and I’m a BIG fan! (coincidentally I wrote and posted a review on the latest (unreleased) book of the series LOL!)

    Hopeless is on my to-read list… I’m a Colleen Hoover admirer 😀

Bit Obsidian… I’m definitely not a fan of that series 😀

    • Yeah, some of my friends have told me I need a multi-pack of hankies before I start reading that one.
Thanks for stopping by Tammy 🙂

  3. I just finished the Lux series last night – Obsidian was a good read, so I do recommend that one. And I’ve heard a lot about Dead Witch Walking as well. I know what you mean about only realign books you own – I could do most of my challenge that way as well. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by my TTT!

    • Ooh, how nice that another blogger recommends the Lux series 🙂 It’s amazing how little self-restraint I have when it comes to buying books.
      Thanks for stopping by Julie.

    • I think TFIOS will be the first book I read in 2013, actually… Thanks for stopping by Jessica.
      Happy reading in 2013.

  4. I am really curious about the books by Colleen Hoover. I have seen them around a lot lately, but I’m not really sure what they are about. I should look into them.

TFIOS is great, but, like you said, make sure you have some tissues nearby.

Obsidian is a lot of fun. The whole Lux series is. I hope you enjoy them.

Lol. I also feel like I could meet my goodreads challenge with all the books I already own!

Happy New Year! Good luck on your book resolutions 🙂

    • Slammed by Colleen Hoover is about a young girl, her little brother and their mom who move after the death of their father. There’s a lot of sadness, and I think there is a need for tissues for those books as well!
Thanks a lot for stopping by Quinn 🙂

  5. I can’t wait to read The Indigo Spell too! Love Adrian and Sydney! I really recommend The Fault in Our Stars and Obisidan…two of my 5 star reads from last year. I’m glad to see I’m not the only person who needs to start the Hollows series…it is on my TBR pile.

    • See, now I want to read TFIOS even more! Each person who has commented here and who has already read it tell me it’s really good.

  6. Awesome list! Dead Witch Walking & The Lux Series are definitely on my 2013 must-read list as well!! I want to read The Indigo Spell too 😀

Thanks for sharing & for visiting my blog earlier. I’m still playing catch up from the holidays – I’m sorry for being so slow to return the visit 🙂

    Micheline @ Lunar Rainbows

    • I think catching up after the Holidays is an excellent excuse for taking things a bit slower!

      Have a wonderful weekend Micheline!

  7. Hopeless is so so good! 🙂 And if you loved Slammed then I can guarantee that you’ll love it!
I also enjoyed Obsidian. Daemon ~yum. And The Fault in our Stars is on my tbr list, but I’m not sure that that book is for me…

    • I can’t wait to read Hopeless! I have already read The Fault in our Stars, and I loved it! I both cried and laughed.
