As we near the end of they year, I wanted to share some of my different favorites for the year, and what better place to start than with my favorite books? The ones mentioned here might not have been released in 2017, but I read them this year, and they made my favorite shelf.
2017 Favorite Books
My Favorite books are in no particular order, but here goes:
Burn for Me (Hidden Legacy #1) by Ilona Andrews. I don’t really have that much to say about this book, other than hey, it’s written by Ilona Andrews – power-couple when it comes to suspenseful paranormal / urban fantasy romances.
White Hot (Hidden Legacy #2) by Ilona Andrews – same as above. I was so totally into the story here I was not able to do much else than read.
Keep Her Safe by K.A. Tucker was a masterpiece of a romantic suspense. There was a who-did-it, there was a mystery, and I loved how Tucker went a bit out of her comfort zone to bring her readers something special. This one is scheduled for release in 2018, and I haven’t posted my review yet.
The Night Mark by Tiffany Reisz was so good! Reisz has a way with words, and I felt like I was right there with the characters, mesmerized from start to finish!
The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertally brought me back to my teen years, it brought back so many memories, while also making the characters – both the main and the secondary – so very realistic.
Odinsbarn (Ravneringene #1) by Norwegian author Siri Pettersen is an original fantasy story, which has me crossing my fingers for an English translation so all my peeps can read it, too!
Archangel’s Viper (Guild Hunter #10) by Nalini Singh blew me away. I love almost every single thing Signh writes, and in this instalment in one of my favorite series, there was so much going on!
Unmaking Hunter Kennedy by Anne Eliot is such a sweet, deep YA story. I keep recommending it to all my students who ask me what to read next!
The Girl I Was Before (Falling #3) by Ginger Scott is the last in the trilogy, and I felt so many feels while reading this. Get the whole series and just sit back to enjoy!
Under Fire (Love Over Duty #1) by Scarlett Cole was awesome! Romantic suspense with a bit of drama that brought me to the edge of my seat more than once!
The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman is magic realism at its very best. Following three siblings who loathe to follow the rules, I was brought on a trip to the past that lasted, and I rooted for these characters with all I had.
Atheists Who Kneel and Pray by Tarryn Fisher grabbed me with its beautiful prose and the wonderfully flawed characters.
Goodbye Paradise (Hello Goodbye #1) by Sarina Bowen touched on a lot of important themes, some of them fairly heavy. However, there was hope and love to help me not become a bucket of tears along the way.
Have you made a list of your favorite books for 2017? Please let me know, maybe there are some I’ve missed 🙂
Andrews and Singh always make at my lists. Nice picks.
It’s great how that works, no? I am so happy they both keep on writing 🙂
The upside of Unrequited and Archangel’s Viper are on my TBR. Great list 🙂
Thanks Mridula 🙂 I hope you’ll enjoy both as much as I did!
Always fun to see what books made a Best of list. Helps me prioritize my wish list. LOL
But I do see a handful that I loved, too.
Ha! I do the same.. Visit other bloggers’ top list of the year, and add a ton of more books to my shelves 😀

Looks like some great reads! Hope there will be lots more in 2018!
I hope so, too, Stormi 🙂
I haven’ t read any of these books except The Upside of Unrequited but it wasn’t a favorite unfortunately. I thought it was okay but I liked Simon vs more.
Merry Christmas!
Andrews makes my list every time!
You’ve reminded me to finally read books by some of these authors. The year just blew by so fast!

This is a fun topic. I am doing a list of my favs later this week. The only one I have read on your list is The Rules of Magic. It was so good. Thanks for sharing your favorites!
I haven’t read a lot of these but both of the Ilona Andrews and The Night Mark top my reads this year as well. I have some of your other picks on my tbr pile so hopefully I can get to them soonish.
Wow, to be honest, I haven’t heard of most of the books you’ve mentioned on your list. I’ll definitely look into them now. Great post!
Cheers,

I do have the first of this Andrews series in my tbr. I loved The Night Mark and have listened to it twice now. So good. It would be on my best of the year as well. I love Sarena Bowen as well, but this one is new to me. I am excited to read Keep Her Safe, one of my favorite authors. And Nalini Singh? Love everything I’ve read by her but haven’t started this series yet though I have some of them. Great list!
That’s how I do my fave too, doesn’t matter what year they were published, just what year I read them 😛 (although my post doesn’t go up until Wed.) I’ve heard a lot of great things about Ilona Andrews books, I might have to give her a try at some point! Sounds like you found quite a few great books though 😀
Oh the Girl I was Before was amazing!!! Great pick!
