Weekend Wrap-up #171 – All the lonely ARCs

Posted 21 January, 2017 by Linda @ (un)Conventional Bookworms in Memes, Wrap-up Posts / 59 Comments

Weekend Wrap-up is where I share my new books, as well as what happened here at (un)Conventional Bookviews and elsewhere in the blogoshpere. I’m linking up with the usual suspects, AKA Team Tynga’s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer.

STS #171 – All the lonely ARCs

Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews is all about the latest additions to my library – virtual or actual, with books that are  bought, borrowed, won or ARCs  I will (probably) be reading soon. I didn’t buy any books, and only got one ARC I had requested. But I got a lot more ARCs than anticipated, thanks to Carina Press. Without further ado, here’s what I added to my bloated shelves this past week:

The Sunday Post # – Weekend Wrap-up

Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

Another busy week! I have started creating the tests for my two main classes, and the other classes I’m subbing for will have tests soon, too. And it will be my pleasure to correct them. The week flew by, I feel like it was just Monday, and now we’re the weekend. I hope the weekend will move a little slower if that’s possible.

I read some great books this week, and I have finally made up my mind about the feature ideas I talked about last year. Even if there is one that is slightly similar to one of mine, I’ll go with it anyway, because it’s not that similar, and I want to move forward with my idea. You can find my Safe & Sexy post on Friday next week, and you know I’m all for safe sex if you’ve been here before 🙂 Authors who can make safe sex sexy get brownie points from me.

This Week’s Freddy in Action:

I’m always amazed at how gorgeous, cuddly and great Freddy is! And so happy I finally agreed to us having a dog – even if (as I knew would happen) I’m the one who has to do most of the work with him. He pays me back in love and cuddles 🙂

  1. I saw a review this week for The Perfect stranger and it sounds like one I want to read! I like fast weeks too and it is weird it’s Friday already- I don’t say THAT very often lol but this week did kinda fly. And the weekend can just slow its self down right now ha ha!

Glad you had a good week with school.

Freddy hamming it up for the camera is he? 🙂

    • It sounds really good, doesn’t it?I feel like time just flies faster and faster nowadays. I can’t believe we’re 2017 already… I want the weekend to be REAL slow, too, so I can just hang out and relax once I finish with my tests.

  2. Those books look really great! 🙂 And isn’t it amazing how much love you can get back from a dog? It’s the same with mine and even my mom’s golden retriever when I go visit them. He always comes cuddling because he knows I’m the one most likely to pet him. 😛

    Have a great weekend, Lexxie!

    • I was amazed at those books I received unsolicited, Stephanie, because they do look really good.

The love from a dog is so utterly and completely unconditional, I am in awe of Freddy. He’s always ready for a cuddle 😀 Have a great weekend yourself!

  3. Everyone in my family has asthma so we could never take the risk of getting a dog in case one of us reacted to the fur. It’s a shame as I had the chance to get a beagle puppy as a kid and I so wanted one! Yes I would’ve called him Snoopy! Now, financially it wouldn’t be possible either. Such a pity! So I just enjoy watching everyone else with their dog photos instead!

    • We didn’t have a dog (or any other animals) when I grew up, either. Maybe that’s why I wanted a dog now that I’m the adult? I did wait until my children were bigger though, so I wouldn’t have to take care of tiny babies and a puppy at the same time 🙂
I’m glad my Freddy pics helps you a little bit to feel the doggy love!

  4. OOh nice! Those are all totally new to me reads! Glad to hear things are going good lifewise! Busy can be nice sometimes, but yeah, needing a break from the fast paced speed busyness tends to involve is necessary! Enjoy the weekend!!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  5. I have The Perfect Stranger…waiting patiently until closer to the review date. I am eager to read it, as I loved All the Missing Girls.

    Love Freddy’s photo shoot…

Enjoy your week…and I’m off to check out some of your links!

    • I wonder who I met at BEA who made this happen, Samantha… I am sure I haven’t met the person who is sending me the e-mails, because her name doesn’t ring any bells, but I started getting e-mails with book in late May, so I’m thinking it has something to do with BEA.
I hope you’ll be approved for their books! They have the very best romances, no?

    • I love that camera, Alyssa Susanna. I really wanted an old-fashioned instant camera, and found it on sale on amazaon. I just couldn’t resist it 🙂
I haven’t read any of Julianna Keyes’ adult romance novels… I’m off to check them out on Goodreads now 🙂 Thanks for the rec!

  6. I am curious about Perfect Stranger. I am trying to not look at arcs, but when they show up in my inbox or mailbox it is sooo hard..lol Glad you are going forward with your ideas. I need to amp up my confession and recipe posts, but have been over booking each month. Too many books and audios!

Have a wonderful week and love on that cute doggie 🙂

  7. My daughter has been asking us for both a kitten and a puppy lately (she’ll be 4 next month). I LOVE animals but I’ve been trying to wait until she’s a little older so I could possibly have her take on some responsibilities (haha, yeah right! ). We also aren’t sure if we are going to moving or not in the next year or 2 and I would really like to wait until we got a bigger house/bigger yard.

  8. Going to have to check out some of those Carina Press book. My kick for Contemp books has really kicked in this year and I am loving the change.
Oh Freddy! He should be in all your pictures, he is just too cute not to be 🙂 I also want one of those camera’s I was just talking about them to Julia.

I know it’s only 3 weeks into the new year but I also want it to slow down just a bit, I want to take my time this year and enjoy each day! 🙂

Have a great week, Lexxie! Happy Reading! Miss you lots and lots oxoxox

  9. Happy reading, that haul looks great! At what is Freddy looking in that picture? Must be something on the floor that captured his interest – looks so adorable 🙂 Thanks for sharing it with us.
Did you get a new webcam or what is this huge thing in front of your laptop?

  10. The Perfect Stranger sounds good and I need to read the first book. Freddy is adorable and I was also reluctant to get a dog. A pet is a lot of work but I can’t imagine not having our Koko lol. I look forward to your new posts. I hope you have a great week!

One of the reasons I enjoy teaching Kinder is no tests and grading. It takes me minutes to go over my kids work and I don’t really “grade” anything. The only tests they take are on the computer and auto graded. But I do have to deal with crying, peeing on yourself, tattling, and spontaneous vomit. It’s a trade off LOL!

The weekend has gone too fast for me – I hope not for you! I feel the same way about our Buffy as you do Freddy, except that, by some strange miracle I don’t bear the burden of her care. I make sure she eats, gets her monthly meds and is bathed/teeth brushed. But the biggest element of her care – daily walks – seems to fall more to Kiko and my mom… I guess because they are home way more. Even now she’s cuddled up with me and I couldn’t be more happy!

    I’ll start Taking Turns tonight – excited!!! Hope you have a great week. {[HUGS}}

  12. It feels like it was just Monday. And my weekend flew by even faster after having to give up my Saturday for my students’ competition. They did well and I am proud of them, I just want another day. Good luck with your grading! 😀

  13. My week flew by as well, Lex, but then, you know that. 😉 Sky is safely back in Portland and things will be returning to normal here. Hopefully we can chat sometime this week. I know your schedule is hectic and busy but maybe? Let me know when a good time is… I miss you and there’s catching up to do! 🙂 I’m happy you’re enjoying your workload and looking forward to testing coming up. It also looks like you made quite a haul…I’m trying very hard not to add too many books to my stacks but Bookbub makes it hard! LOL Oh, and I’m very happy you decided to add Freddy to your household because I know he’s added a lot of love and laughter. 😀
