The Sunday Post #123 – Weekend Wrap-up

Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

Another busy week! I had a lot of tests to correct, and I was trained to be the main teacher for one of my classes, as it seems the teacher I’m replacing might not be able to come back to work until the summer… We shall see, it’s a great opportunity for me, of course, even if I feel bad for the one who can’t work.

Our weather has gotten a lot warmer, and we’ve seen the sun more than once this past week, this has helped me a lot when it comes to my energy levels. Hopefully, the sun will keep shining so that energy can keep flowing. I have written quite a bit on my thesis this week, too, so it’s been very productive.

  1. Oh hey, that’s great about getting a long stint in sub work. Also great that you got some good work done on your thesis. Yay for the sun coming out. We went two weeks without a sunny day and it does affect the energy as you say.

Nice haul. Dark Matter looks pretty good.

  2. Yay! Dark Matter! You’re gonna love it (and if you don’t I’m hiding because I’ll be embarrassed). 🙂 But it’s a thrill ride.

Glad you got sun- I think we got one, maybe two days of PARTIAL sunlight this week. But hey February- it can’t be long now til spring right??

    Have a great week!

  3. I’m pretty sure I’ll love it, Greg! It’s always so fascinating to me to think of those choices we have to make, and how different our lives would be if only one (early) choice had been different!
I hope you’ll get some more sun!

  4. Well that sounds exciting! Hope things go well for you there!

Nice new reads too! All totally new to me ones this time around but I hope you enjoy them all! And as always Freddy is just too cute!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then!

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  5. Freddy is either putting sad face on for the camera or he’s been up to something! Sounds like a busy but rewarding week for you. Hope you can fit some nice reading in too!

  6. I got Dark Matter at BEA, Lex…another for the buddy read list?!? I also can’t wait to see what you think of Tucker’s latest…I might also be a teensy bit green. 😉 But I *do* have LOTS of her books to read. She’s one I’ll catch up with this year, I think. I just love her writing.
    I’m happy you had such a productive week. That’s wonderful. And you’re getting to see the sun! It does affect your energy level, doesn’t it? We’ve had a wacky week of weather. The front range (Denver and the suburbs) have been socked in with fog and clouds, staying cool. We had that push up to us one evening (Wednesday) but otherwise, we’ve been mostly sunny and 10 degrees warmer! Which is very odd. 😉 Anyway, I hope your weekend is off to a great start!! I miss you and love you!! {{{BIG HUGS}}}
p.s. 3 months from now we’ll be sipping mint juleps and eating tator tots and fried green tomatoes. *squee*

    • How did you get Dark Matter at BEA? where did you go without me? :p Definitely one to add to the buddy read list. Until it Fades was awesome sauce, Brandee! So swoon-worthy. And I loved the heroine so much! (ha! am I making you greener? :P)
Today, it’s foggy and raining, and I was so happy I didn’t have to leave the house at all.
      I know! Three months feels so very close, doesn’t it? Not sure I want mint in my juleps… can we find a substitute for me? 😀 Tator tots and fried green tomatoes are a big yes, though! {{{BIG HUGS}}}

  7. I also got the Long Way Home as well. I hope you love all of your new books. Freddy looks like he was deep in thought when you took that picture. I hope you have a lovely new weekend.

  8. I’ll be grading tests this weekend, too. There are only two weeks left in this grading period, and grades are starting to take a turn. Sounds like overall it’s been a good week. Happy reading!

    • I know – it’s kind of a mixed blessing for me, because she’s a great teacher, and I feel really bad for her. And at the same time, I’m also happy to have work.
Freddy doesn’t like to be brushed all that much, but he loves to take a shower 😀 opposites!

  9. the cover of Lives Collide is beautiful! I’m looking forward to your review of Long Way Home, I heard is good! I just fdon’t know how you manage to read and blog so well since you are always SO BUSY!!! WTG Lex! Crossing my fingers on that great teaching opportunity! Can Freddy come for a play date and sleep over with my spawns?? OMG I CAN’T HE IS TOO MUCH. SO CUUUUTE. I always show my kids his pics and they already love him 🙂

    • I agree, the cover is gorgeous, it’s partly why I agreed to read the book 😀 I’ve hard great things about Long Way Home, too… but I have to read the second book in the series before I get to this one.
I don’t feel like I’m on top of anything to do with blogging lately, Daniela. I haven’t been commenting on other blogs much this past week, and I only have two posts scheduled for next week… Maybe there will be an impromptu hiatus soon :O
I don’t think I’d do very well without Freddy here at home, so that’s going to have to be a no, sorry.

  10. I hope you enjoy your opportunity to be the main teacher and it sounds like things are going well. You sounds as if you’re really energised and that’s great!

Greg got me wondering about Dark Matter as well… so keen to hear what you think of it!

  11. I’m sorry the teacher you’re covering for can’t work but that’s good she has someone who actually cares! Yay for the opportunity! And yes, we’ve had sunshine every day since it’s turned to February. I think the sun was allergic to January… Have a great week!!

  12. Great mix of books here! The familiar one to me is Long Way Home – I need to get my hands on a copy, perhaps at the library. I’m enjoying this series, probably more than the Pushing the Limits ones.

I hope your teaching opportunity works out, for you and for the other teacher!

I hope you enjoy all of your new books! Have a fantastic weekend, Lexxie. =)

    Check out my STS post!

  13. Ooo… Dark Matter! I MUST get hold of that one – though not in February as I got a tad carried away with NetGalley this month… Glad that you have been able to see the sun this week and at the risk of becoming a weather bore (I am a Brit after all) we’ve most watched water pouring out of the sky and needed the lights on in the house 24/7. Hope the teaching goes well, Lexxie and you have a great week. Many thanks for swinging by:)

  14. Wow! Looks like you’ve received some great new books again.
I haven’t been able to read as much as I wanted this week. But I think next week will be a much better reading week for me since I only have to work dayshifts.
Good luck with teaching this week and happy reading!

  15. Congrats on the teaching opportunity. I understand how it is a mixed blessings because I received my promotion after my boss got fed up and quit. I hope everything goes well. I enjoyed Greg’s Dark Matter review and look forward to reading this soon. I hope you have a great week!
