Weekend Wrap-up is where I share my new books, as well as what happened here at (un)Conventional Bookviews and elsewhere in the blogoshpere. I’m linking up with the usual suspects, AKA Team Tynga’s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer.
STS #173
Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews is all about the latest additions to my library – virtual or actual. All the books that I have bought, borrowed, won or ARCs I will (probably) read soon. Without further ado, here’s what I added to my bloated shelves this past week:
Thank you, Atria, Penguin Random House Children’s and NetGalley!
The Sunday Post #123 – Weekend Wrap-up
Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.
Another busy week! I had a lot of tests to correct, and I was trained to be the main teacher for one of my classes, as it seems the teacher I’m replacing might not be able to come back to work until the summer… We shall see, it’s a great opportunity for me, of course, even if I feel bad for the one who can’t work.
Our weather has gotten a lot warmer, and we’ve seen the sun more than once this past week, this has helped me a lot when it comes to my energy levels. Hopefully, the sun will keep shining so that energy can keep flowing. I have written quite a bit on my thesis this week, too, so it’s been very productive.

Did you get some good books last week? What have you been up to this past week? Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’re enjoying your weekend, and that next week will be filled with awesome!
Oh hey, that’s great about getting a long stint in sub work. Also great that you got some good work done on your thesis. Yay for the sun coming out. We went two weeks without a sunny day and it does affect the energy as you say.
Nice haul. Dark Matter looks pretty good.
Yeah, it is and I’m happy about it. I’m just a little afraid I’ll have too many hours to finish my thesis in time…
Yay! Dark Matter! You’re gonna love it (and if you don’t I’m hiding because I’ll be embarrassed). 🙂 But it’s a thrill ride.
Glad you got sun- I think we got one, maybe two days of PARTIAL sunlight this week. But hey February- it can’t be long now til spring right??
Have a great week!
I’m pretty sure I’ll love it, Greg! It’s always so fascinating to me to think of those choices we have to make, and how different our lives would be if only one (early) choice had been different!
I hope you’ll get some more sun!
Well that sounds exciting! Hope things go well for you there!
Nice new reads too! All totally new to me ones this time around but I hope you enjoy them all! And as always Freddy is just too cute!
My STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then!
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
Thanks, Jessica 🙂 I hope so, too! Freddy is the cutest dog ever, in my humble opinion 😉
I heard nothing but good things about The Upside of Unrequited. I have an ARC of it but haven’t been able to get around to it yet. I should definitely read it soon!
Happy Reading! ♥
I hope I’ll be able to get to it soon, Stephanie 🙂 Happy reading to you, too!
Freddy is either putting sad face on for the camera or he’s been up to something! Sounds like a busy but rewarding week for you. Hope you can fit some nice reading in too!
He was a bit cold when I took the picture. We went for a long walk outside, and there was still some snow on the ground. When we got back home, I showered him, but he was still kind of shaky for a while there 🙂
Oooh I can’t wait to read The Upside of Unrequited! I loved Becky’s debut! Fingers crossed for the job. Have a great weekend!
Thanks, Chrissi! You, too 🙂
I got Dark Matter at BEA, Lex…another for the buddy read list?!? I also can’t wait to see what you think of Tucker’s latest…I might also be a teensy bit green. 😉 But I *do* have LOTS of her books to read. She’s one I’ll catch up with this year, I think. I just love her writing.
I’m happy you had such a productive week. That’s wonderful. And you’re getting to see the sun! It does affect your energy level, doesn’t it? We’ve had a wacky week of weather. The front range (Denver and the suburbs) have been socked in with fog and clouds, staying cool. We had that push up to us one evening (Wednesday) but otherwise, we’ve been mostly sunny and 10 degrees warmer! Which is very odd. 😉 Anyway, I hope your weekend is off to a great start!! I miss you and love you!! {{{BIG HUGS}}}
p.s. 3 months from now we’ll be sipping mint juleps and eating tator tots and fried green tomatoes. *squee*
How did you get Dark Matter at BEA? where did you go without me? :p Definitely one to add to the buddy read list. Until it Fades was awesome sauce, Brandee! So swoon-worthy. And I loved the heroine so much! (ha! am I making you greener? :P)
Today, it’s foggy and raining, and I was so happy I didn’t have to leave the house at all.
I know! Three months feels so very close, doesn’t it? Not sure I want mint in my juleps… can we find a substitute for me? 😀 Tator tots and fried green tomatoes are a big yes, though! {{{BIG HUGS}}}
I also got the Long Way Home as well. I hope you love all of your new books. Freddy looks like he was deep in thought when you took that picture. I hope you have a lovely new weekend.
Thanks, Grace 🙂
I’ll be grading tests this weekend, too. There are only two weeks left in this grading period, and grades are starting to take a turn. Sounds like overall it’s been a good week. Happy reading!
We have just started a new grading period, and so it’s nice to make sure one of those new grades is already done 🙂 Happy reading to you, too, Charlie! <3
Enjoy your stint! A mixed blessing, but probably something you will be happy about.
Hello, Freddy!
Enjoy your week, and thanks for sharing.
You’re absolutely right, Laurel-Rain 🙂

Great haul! I am curious of what you will think of Dark Matter, I almost grabbed it because of what Greg said but haven’t yet.
I can’t wait to read it, Stormi!
That is sad the teacher might not be able to work for awhile, but definitely a great opportunity for you! I hope all goes well. 🙂 And Freddy! My dog needs a bath soon. She doesn’t love them, but she likes to be brushed!
-lauren
I know – it’s kind of a mixed blessing for me, because she’s a great teacher, and I feel really bad for her. And at the same time, I’m also happy to have work.
Freddy doesn’t like to be brushed all that much, but he loves to take a shower 😀 opposites!
Yay warm weather! I’ve actually been having some sort of cold front here, but I’ll be glad when it’s just warm or even hot again. I like nice, predictable weather lol. And that’s great for you about the teaching thing!
I think I spoke too early, Kristen… today we’ve had so much rain, and fog, and it’s just been dark and dreary. Good thing I didn’t have to leave the house at all 😀
K.A. Tucker seems to be popular this week. I haven’t asked for the book…yet. I am all for warmer weather and sunshine is most welcome. Freddy is adorable as always. I know you will do great as the main teacher. Have a great week!
It was SO good, Carole!
I want the sun to come back – it has left again, and today has been awful 🙁 Have a great week yourself!

the cover of Lives Collide is beautiful! I’m looking forward to your review of Long Way Home, I heard is good! I just fdon’t know how you manage to read and blog so well since you are always SO BUSY!!! WTG Lex! Crossing my fingers on that great teaching opportunity! Can Freddy come for a play date and sleep over with my spawns?? OMG I CAN’T HE IS TOO MUCH. SO CUUUUTE. I always show my kids his pics and they already love him 🙂
I agree, the cover is gorgeous, it’s partly why I agreed to read the book 😀 I’ve hard great things about Long Way Home, too… but I have to read the second book in the series before I get to this one.
I don’t feel like I’m on top of anything to do with blogging lately, Daniela. I haven’t been commenting on other blogs much this past week, and I only have two posts scheduled for next week… Maybe there will be an impromptu hiatus soon :O
I don’t think I’d do very well without Freddy here at home, so that’s going to have to be a no, sorry.
I hope you enjoy your opportunity to be the main teacher and it sounds like things are going well. You sounds as if you’re really energised and that’s great!
Greg got me wondering about Dark Matter as well… so keen to hear what you think of it!
Hehe, Greg was quite the tempter then, wasn’t he? The way he talked about Dark Matter made me think of Dissonance which I really loved, so I just had to pick it up.
I’m sorry the teacher you’re covering for can’t work but that’s good she has someone who actually cares! Yay for the opportunity! And yes, we’ve had sunshine every day since it’s turned to February. I think the sun was allergic to January… Have a great week!!
You’re right, I am happy about the opportunity, and it’s very nice to have solid work again!
I hope the sun’s allergy won’t spill over to February, Kristin, we have had so much rain and fog today it’s not even funny!
Great mix of books here! The familiar one to me is Long Way Home – I need to get my hands on a copy, perhaps at the library. I’m enjoying this series, probably more than the Pushing the Limits ones.
I hope your teaching opportunity works out, for you and for the other teacher!
I hope you enjoy all of your new books! Have a fantastic weekend, Lexxie. =)
Check out my STS post!
That’s very good to know, Alyssa Susanna. I have only read the first one in this series, but now I own the next two, so I’ll get to read them back to back 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!
Glad Greg convinced you to get Dark Mater! It’s a really good book. Hmm, yeah, good that you get the teaching opportunity, but it’s hard when it’s because someone else is going through something. Anyway, have a great week, Lexxie! Give Freddy a cuddle from me.
It is kind of hard to get a teaching opportunity because someone else isn’t doing all that well… I’ll definitely give Freddy a cuddle from you 🙂

The cover of lives collide is stunning I need to check it out. Your dog is so cute! Have a great week.
It’s a gorgeous cover, right? And I agree, my dog is the cutest 😉
Oh ots of good books. I got the new KA Tucker too this week. Dark Matter looks s good! Glad you have that opportunity at work. Yay for warmer weather. Freddy looks as cute as ever!
I already read Until it Fades, Grace, I just couldn’t resist 😀 It was really good *nudge, nudge*
Ooo… Dark Matter! I MUST get hold of that one – though not in February as I got a tad carried away with NetGalley this month… Glad that you have been able to see the sun this week and at the risk of becoming a weather bore (I am a Brit after all) we’ve most watched water pouring out of the sky and needed the lights on in the house 24/7. Hope the teaching goes well, Lexxie and you have a great week. Many thanks for swinging by:)
NetGalley is such a blessing / curse at the same time! I just had to get my hands on Dark Matter – now, finding the time to actually read it is a whole other thing.
Oooh, I snagged up Until it Fades as well and I’m sooo excited to read it! Have a great week!
It’s really good, Lauren!
I was so happy to get some sun here as well. It was beautiful weather! But it’s cloudy and damp again. Glad you had a productive week! Hope you have a great one this week as well. ~Aleen
Yeah, it’s all cloudy and damp here again, too. Thanks for stopping by, Aleen!
I am glad you enjoyed Winter Moon! I love that series so much! I never wanted it to end. Loved Freddy’s IG pics this week. The one with the stick was too cute!
Have a great week!

Ohh, you got amazing books this week.
I love Katie McGarry, one of my favorite authors!
Also, I somehow missed that new book by K.A. Tucker was on Netgalley. I loved every single book by her that I’ve read, but I only read few of them.

I hope yo enjoy Until It Fades!! I can’t wait to read it!
It’s great that you might be able to work until Summer 🙂
Wow! Looks like you’ve received some great new books again.
I haven’t been able to read as much as I wanted this week. But I think next week will be a much better reading week for me since I only have to work dayshifts.
Good luck with teaching this week and happy reading!
My energy levels dip a lot when I don’t see the sun, too. Getting out and in the fresh air is really important for me. Glad to hear you got some work done on your thesis! This is the year for it, right? I’m excited for you!
Yay! Congrats on becoming a full time teacher! I hope you have a lovely time teaching the class!
Congrats on the teaching opportunity. I understand how it is a mixed blessings because I received my promotion after my boss got fed up and quit. I hope everything goes well. I enjoyed Greg’s Dark Matter review and look forward to reading this soon. I hope you have a great week!
Yeah! Working full time. I’m happy for you. It’s been cold then warm here. The sun was out almost the entire week and I relished it. Freddy looks half asleep!
Freddie looks like such a doll. I just love seeing his little face 🙂 Enjoy your reads this week, Lexxie!

Freddie is so cute. Glad you’ve got a full class. That has to be better than subbing for just a day or so. Also great to hear that your thesis is going well. I hope you have a great week.
I am just loving the warmer weather as well. It sounds like a great opportunity of teaching for you. Hope you learn alot and have fun with it.
