Weekend Wrap-up is where I share my new books, as well as what happened here at (un)Conventional Bookviews and elsewhere in the blogoshpere. I’m linking up with the usual suspects, AKA Team Tynga’s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer.

STS / BB&B - (un)Conventional bookviews

STS #182

Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews is all about the latest additions to my library – virtual or actual, with books that are  bought, borrowed, won or ARCs  I will (probably) be reading soon. Without further ado, here’s what I added to my bloated shelves this past week:

ARCs Recieved - (un)Conventional Bookviews - Bought Borrowed and Bagged Stacking the Shelves

I got a lovely e-mail from Carina Press yesterday, with TEN unsolicited kindle books… I haven’t had the time to sort through them and add them to Goodreads yet, but I will include titles and covers next week 🙂

The Sunday Post # – Weekend Wrap-up

Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

I had a fairly busy week, with all the teaching, and with writing for my thesis as well. Next week will be very short though, as we only work Monday-Wednesday before spring-break, and we’ll have ten days off. On Thursday morning, the girls, Freddy and I are driving to Spain for some much needed rest 🙂

This Week’s Freddy in Action:

  1. Ooh nice haul!! All new to me books, but I hope you will enjoy them all! Hope you get some good R&R in this weekend too after such a busy week! And poor Freddy, he looks like he needs a little R&R too after a busy week! Lol! 😉

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  2. I should follow Freddy’s example and take a nap! I have felt so tired all week, probably because of last weekend’s beach getaway.

The Child Finder and The Lightkeeper’s Daughters both grabbed my interest. Thanks for sharing, and have a great week. Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  3. I’m happy for you that you get to travel so much. I used to travel all over the place before kids… (ah, wistful sigh). I’m curious how you have connected to publishers directly. I get my ARCs through NetGalley and Edelweiss. I haven’t gotten up the nerve to write to publishers directly. I would love to review audio books! Have fun in Spain!

    • We continued to travel even when the children were tiny, and we’re happy, because now, they love that just as much as we did.

I think Carina Press started sending me e-mails with books after I went to BEA last year, as I got my first one in June, and at one of the author breakfasts, I sat at a table with several people in publishing, and they asked for my card… I got a contact with Tantor Audio through another blogger, Stormi, and if you’d like, I can ask if I can give her e-mail address to you 🙂

Thanks for stopping by, Ardis 🙂

  4. Yay for spring break! Spain sounds like a nice getaway. 🙂

Freddy sleeps like one of my cats does- on his back and just dead to the world, looks like.

Hope your short week is awesome.

  5. Ten books, oh my 😀 your TBR will be going crazy. But hey, I think you’re a fast reader, so maybe you can deal with it just fine 🙂

Ooh! Handmaid’s tale? That’s been going wild lately. Have you not read it yet? I loved it.

    • I know, right? I wasn’t even motivated to add them to my goodreads shelf… But I sure will.

No, I somehow haven’t read The Handmaid’s Tale yet. I own it – and have for a long time. But as you may have noticed, I add more books than I can read. However now with the TV series coming out, I want to see if it’s something I might want to use in my teaching. And the new audio was up for grabs, so I felt like I should use one of my credits 🙂

Thanks for stopping by, Evelina .)

      • Nothing new here, I add waaaay more books than I can read too 😀 I just put up a show of “trying” to contain the process. LOL

You should totally read the Handmaid’s Tale, it was wonderful! My first Atwood. I hope you have a review when you do finish it 🙂

  6. What a wonderful book haul and I notice that Legion is one of the books you’re reading – that wonderful cover has snagged my attention and I hope you’re enjoying it. What a lovely pic of Freddy:). I have a fortnight free of teaching coming up, but I have a stack of editing and next term’s course to write, as well as looking after the grandchildren – always a joy. Have a fabulous time in Spain, Lexxie:).

  7. Great haul! I got the paperback version of The Handmaid’s Tale this month and I loved it! I hope you’ll enjoy all the books you got! Happy reading!

  8. Our spring break starts next week as well and I am thrilled!! I am so ready for the break. Enjoy the Handmaid’s tale! That book left me feeling super uncomfortable (but in a “wow that book is creepy good” kind of way). The idea of something like that ever happening….yikes!
    Have a great week!

Samantha recently posted: Sunday Post: Is it spring break yet?
    • Oh my gosh! We so deserve a break, Samantha 😀 And I love that we both used spring break in our title for this week 😀
I know! The Handmaid’s Tale does seem chilling, and at the same time, I think it’s a book that could be very good for analysing in class.

  9. RO

My goodness, it’s been a long time since I saw a novel from Megan hart and can’t wait to read your review. Looks like you received lots of goodies, including The Chosen. Happy Sunday! Hugs…

  10. Wow at the the ubsolicited books from Carina. Hope there are some real gems in the mix. I can’t believe I haven’t read anything by Huss yet. I’ve had two of hers (Eighteen and Three Two One) sitting on my Kindle for ages but have yet to pick them up. Color me jealous of the getaway in Spain. I’m taking a week off in late April/Early May and am already counting the days. Hope you have a wonderful, relaxing time!

  11. I’ve always wanted to go to Spain. I hope you enjoy your trip! I’d love 10 days+weekend for spring break. Most parents are taking that anyway, with kids leaving on the Thursday before school lets out for spring break or Christmas each year.

  12. I might have to check out the audio version of The Handmaid’s Tale. I tried to read it years ago but never really got into it at the time. I think I’d feel differently about the story now. I am also curious about the TV adaptation. The Lightkeeper’s Daughters looks pretty interesting too.

I hope you have a good week and enjoy your spring break 🙂

  13. Sounds like a busy week but it’s all worth it. Spring break in Spain sounds amazing. I love when my puppies sleep on their backs. I read the Handmaids Tale back in high school my English teacher had us read and watch the movie at the time. So I’m a little curious to see it on netflix. I hope you enjoy your upcoming Spring break. Have a great week!!!

  14. Can’t wait to see what you think of Dark House. It was the start of one of my very favorite series. And while Dark House isn’t necessarily my favorite in the series, it’s still a good introduction to the characters and I still gave it 5 stars I think. There’s others that deserve more than 5 stars I think! I love all your Freddy pictures. He’s such a cute dog! Have fun in Spain and enjoy your much needed time off. I was going to drive back home to Kentucky this coming weekend but had to put it on hold after my doctor appointment with my kidney doctor last week. Now more Doctor appointments, at least one more this week and maybe another one. I had really looked forward to going home. Oh well. Maybe in a few weeks depending.Safe travels!

  15. I’m loving the cover for The Child Finder. I hadn’t heard of that one. I should listen to the audio for The Handmaid’s Tale. I’ve read it, but it’s been years (and years). Happy reading!
