Weekend Wrap-up is where I share my new books, as well as what happened here at (un)Conventional Bookviews and elsewhere in the blogoshpere. I’m linking up with the usual suspects, AKA Team Tynga’s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer.
STS #186
Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews is all about the latest additions to my library – virtual or actual, with books that are bought, borrowed, won or ARCs I will (probably) be reading soon. Without further ado, here’s what I added to my bloated shelves this past week:
Well, how do I say this? I picked up a huge pile of books at RT the first week of May, and only bought a hand full or two of those books. Here’s a picture of my complete haul… with a link to my Goodreads RT17 shelf 😉
The Sunday Post #136 – Weekend Wrap-up
Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.
I left Atlanta on Monday evening, and arrived in Geneva late Tuesday afternoon. Then, I worked on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I think my time at RT is what you want to hear about, though, right?
I had such a great time! I got to spend a lot of time with my blogger wife Brandee, and with Denise, who co-blogs with Brandee every now and then. Much fun was also had with Melanie of Hot Listens, as she also shared a room with us for the time she was in Atlanta.
The panels were a lot of fun, and I found some real gems when it comes to books. I think I’m the most excited about reading Sonali Dev’s books, as they seem really good, and she was such a sweet person, she took time to chat with everyone during the Kensington book sharing.
My favorite panel was the dual audio narration panel, where Kai and Wen explained how they do duet narration – which means that Kai reads the female POV chapters, while Wen reads the male POV chapters, but they actually act out the dialogs within the chapters. I can’t wait to listen to my first book narrated by them.
Anne Eliot took us to the neighboring hotel where the elevators were used for the Hunger Games movies – think where the one girl changed clothes in the glass elevator, and where they were beamed up into the arena afterwards. It was pretty cool to be on the 47th floor looking down, even if I’m afraid of heights.
I tried all the delicious southern foods I’ve read about, and that made me really happy. Brandee and I shared a mint julep while thinking of our favorite Mister, too… And I got to meet several of my favorite authors. I got completely tongue-tied when I asked Charlaine Harris for a picture, I was able to chat with Tiffany Reisz for a while, and I had brought Swiss chocolate for her. Kristen Ashley, Michelle Mankin, Tina Torrest, Jennie Marts, Anne Eliot and Avery Flynn were among the other highlights when it came to author meetings.
And then, of course, there were the bloggers! It is always amazing to meet other bloggers, with whom I could chat about books morning, noon and night. We never got tired of talking and laughing, and I really had a fantastic week. When can we do this again? (All my other pictures from Atlanta can be found both on Facebook and Instagram).
This Week’s Freddy in Action:
I missed him so much while I was gone! And I am pretty sure he missed me as well!

I have not been on my own blog (nor on other blogs) these past two weeks, I’ve been too busy running around chatting with bloggers and authors in the real world, rather than hanging out with all of you here in the virtual world.
Did you get some good books last week? What have you been up to this past week? Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’re enjoying your weekend, and that next week will be filled with awesome!
Wow, fun times! Neat that you met and spoke with favorite authors and blogger friends. And tried Southern food. 🙂
That is a snazzy pile of books. I looked at your list and I’ve only read a handful of them. Were they giveaways in stacks with publishers or did you get to meet the authors for each? About how many are signed? I think you need another shelf. LOL
Oh, adorable Freddie, he does look pleased to have you home again.
Have a great week, Lexxie and hopefully you’ll get caught up on your rest this weekend.
I do have a shelf for autographed books but I do need to go through the books I brought home with me to see which ones are signed and which ones aren’t.
Some of the parties where we could get books, the authors were there to personalize their books to us, and at some of the panels, there were no authors, but lots of books…
Oh cool. I was curious so thanks. 🙂
You’re welcome 🙂
SO MANY BOOKS! ? I’m glad you had a lot of fun! I saw on the Goodreads list that you have The Pawn by Skye Warren. I love that author so hope you’ll enjoy that book in particular. ^_^
I hope I’ll enjoy The Pawn, too, Stephanie. I’m so happy with all the beauties I was able to bring home with me!
Are you going to come to RARE (in Berlin in June this year, and London in February next year)? A lot of authors we both enjoy are coming to sign their books, and it’s a one-day event on a Saturday.
Now THAT is a book haul! How exciting! There is nothing like making a huge book grab like that! Glad you had a great time…now you just need to find somewhere to put all the books…
I know, right? This means I should be OK with not adding any more books to my shelves this year… but we both know that’s not going to happen 😀
All these books have already found perfect places on my shelves, and there is still a little bit of room for more.
I miss RT! But I soo don’t want to go to Reno next year so I am hoping 2019 won’t be in a “crazy” city! LOL! And wow!! That’s sooo many books!! Hope you enjoy each and every one of them!
My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
I’m not going to Reno, either. But I’m not sure if I’ll be able to go to any more RT conventions in the future, as our school year lasts until the end of June, and I’m not supposed to take time off outside of school holidays…
Thanks for stopping by, Jessica.
Wow, that is a lot of books. I’m glad you had fun and got to meet other bloggers. Also, isn’t Southern food awesome? I love it.
Yes, a whole lot of books! Meeting other bloggers and spending lots of time with them was amazing. And yes, the Southern food is SO good.

You had a full week in ATL!
I would be tongue tied asking for photos, these people are our rockstars for sure. So jealous you got to mee TReisz!
Happy Mother’s Day!
They so are! But they are also very approachable and so nice, Braine 🙂 Reisz is so amazing!
What a great event! I love Southern fiction, and my current read, The Night the Lights Went Out, has a character (Sugar) who tells her young tenant how to properly make Sweet Tea. LOL.
I love the thought of those Mint Juleps…and I’ve never had one!
I am sure Freddy was happy when you came home.
Thanks for sharing…and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
It was so good, Laurel-Rain! Southern fiction is great, and it was so nice to see that food-wise, authors are more or less on spot most of the time 🙂
I wasn’t a huge fan of the Mint Julep, but I’m glad I got to try it 🙂
I love duet narration!! Its so freaking cool!
I have major jealousy over your time at RT. The authors, the books, the bloggers?!? So cool! How much did it cost to get all those books home?!?
I miss living in the south and having access to all that good southern food. It just isn’t the same in the north no matter how hard I try!
Have a great week!
I know, right? And both Wen and Kai have amazing voices 🙂
I was allowed two suitcases of 70 pounds each… I had to buy a bigger suitcase, though – if not it wouldn’t have cost me anything at all.
Southern food was delish! And I bet it doesn’t taste the same elsewhere, it’s like the ingredients need the Southern air or something.

Sounds like you had a great time and wow, that is a lot of books!! 🙂 Have fun with those! Love those Freddie pics I bet he was so happy to have you back. 🙂
I had a fantastic time! You know how great it is to hang out with your blogger friends, and it just gets better and better.
Wow great haul! And yay for RT- glad you had a great time! Looks like a great time, and looks like you had some awesome author meets as well.
That is the mother of all hauls, I think. RT was amazing!
The convention sounds like it was so much fun. I would love to go to one of these. You really came away with a great pile of books. I hope you love all of them!
It sure was fun, Carole. And you should really try to go one year, meeting up with all those book lovers and all those authors is like Christmas, birthday and other festive stuff all at the same time.
Sounds like you all had a wonderful time! I’m never really interested in events like that, but then it always looks like people have such a good time. Glad you got home safe.
We were able to have some quiet times, Christy. We left the hotel for at least one meal every day, and we spent part of an evening in our room in our pajamas drinking champagne 😀
Glad to hear you had an awesome time at the RT. I love all your pictures on Instagram. And wow.. you got a LOT of books!!! So happy for you. Enjoy your books. Have a wonderful week! ?
Thanks, Geybie! It was a great week, that’s for sure.
Sounds like such a fun trip, I’ve been loving all your photos while over there. And it’s great that you met some blogging friends and were able to share the experience together. I’m gob smacked over all your new books though! You’ll be busy. And I love your Hunger Games trip, I’d love to do that.
It was an awesome trip, Trish. All those new books will keep me very busy, and I can’t wait to delve in! There are some that I have already read, but that I had to have in paper version so I could get them signed 🙂
Twitter: AvalinahsBooks
Yay, a real life picture 🙂 glad you had such a good time!
It was awesome, Evelina!
Twitter: AvalinahsBooks
Okay, so the first time round I SOMEHOW didn’t notice that first picture. Oh my god, you got THAT many books in May 😀 I actually TURNED MY COMPUTER AROUND to show to boyfriend so he would stop saying I get many books 😀 oh my gosh… That is one awesome haul, I gotta say! 😀 it’s soooooo awesome that they’re all ARCs too! 🙂 woooooow. The blogger’s dream 🙂
By the way, I feel awfully behind, but. What’s a blogger wife xD
Yes, I did get a whole lot of books in Atlanta. Almost all of them are free copies, but some are bought, too.
A blogger wife… you know how some people say they have a work husband / wife? Brandee and I started chatting through our blogs, and on Facebook, too, almost five years ago. We get along really well, and we were roommates at RT in Dallas in 2015, and at BEA in Chicago last year. As a joke, when someone asked Brandee who I was, she said I was her blogger wife, and it stuck 😀
Wow what an awesome haul of books! There are so many books on that picture! I am glad to hear you had an awesome time at RT and got to see Brandee and Melanie! I am sure Freddy missed you while you were gone and was happy to see you again when you got back. I hope you’ll have a great week!
There definitely are many books in that pile. Some of them I have already read on my kindle, I just wanted to get the paperback so I could have them signed on my shelf 🙂
Wow, I will have to show my partner that pic of books. He is always complaining about how many books I have.
Yeah, my husband thinks I have enough books now… but that’s not something I agree with 😀
That is what I call a book haul!!! Sounds like you had an amazing time. I would love to make it to one of those at some point. Love the Freddy Pics as always. Have a great week!!
I had a really good time, Grace! And you should try to make a convention one day. It’s so much fun to meet other bloggers in real life.
So many books, that is awesome! What is RT? I would love to go to that it sounds amazing. I am happy that you had a great time. Happy reading:)
RT = Romantic Times Booklovers Convention. Romantic Times is a magazine with reviews spanning over all kinds of romance novels and novellas, and each year, the main people from the magazine plan a convention for readers, bloggers, librarians, authors, and narrators. It’s a lot of fun, and I had such a great time. This year, the convention took place in Atlanta, last year (when I didn’t go) it was in Las Vegas, and the year before it was in Dallas.
Thanks!
🙂
Totally love your hair! I was waiting to see how things went on your trip and it sounds like you had a blast – and the books, wow! It’s super neat to actually meet bloggers you interact with because there’s always stuff to talk about. Very cool to take pics with fave authors! Welcome back and Happy Mother’s Day! Hugs…
Thank you, Ro 🙂
I did have a blast, and hanging out with blogger friends was definitely a highlight of my trip. I had already met some of them, but I also got to meet some new people. The same with authors – they are so nice!
Happy Mother’s Day to you, too 🙂 *hugs*
Holy crap, that haul is insane! I hope you read some things you love in there! It sounds like you had a fantastic week! I can’t wait to do another blogger event! Your lil puppy is so big! I love him! Have a great week 😀
Here’s my Weekly Recap!
I know! It’s crazy that I picked up so many books! At the same time, I’m sure I will eventually read those I haven’t read already 🙂
Freddy is full grown now, he’s such a cutie 🙂

You sound like you had a great time at RT and got some amazing books. I love Charlaine and would have been tongue tied as well. Have a great week.
It was awesome, Megan 🙂 Charlaine is like a super rockstar to me. I mean, she created Sookie!!!
I so wanted to go! I hope I’ll be able one day!
I hope you’ll be able to go one day, too, Melliane. It’s a lot of fun!
Twitter: ailynk
oh so exciting! I am travelling too! Taiwan with mom, dad, hubby and kids.
That sounds like a great trip, Ailyn 🙂 Have fun!
I’ve been to BEA and ALA but I’ve always wanted to go to RT. It seems like there is more time to go to panels and actually see authors rather than just running around for books.
For What It’s Worth
I went to BEA last year, and I loved it. RT is very different though, especially because almost everyone – readers and authors alike – stay in the same hotel where the convention happens. So for example at breakfast, or in the bar, you can chat with your favorites 🙂 I hope you’ll have the opportunity to go one year!
Looking at the haul only I want to come to America and visit RT! I saw all your pictures on Instagram too! It really looks like a fun time!!
Here’s my STS
Yes, crossing the ocean to be able to participate in RT is definitely worth it, Priyanka! It’s because it was so far and with the time difference that I stayed for 8 days, rather than just the five days of the actual convention.
It was lots of fun, and I hope you’ll have the opportunity to go to a convention like this one day 🙂
Yay! Glad you had a fun time at the authors and bloggers event! I hope you enjoy all your new reads!
Here’s my Sunday Post!
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog and join in this week’s Book Photo Sundays!
It was great, Ronyell! Thanks for stopping by 🙂

I’m so far behind on visiting blogs too. Between RT and playing catch up. I had a great time in Atlanta too. I can’t get over how many books you got. I didn’t get nearly that many, but I skipped a lot of the places to get freebies. I only got books that I was truly interested in, since I’ve already maxed out my shelf space. I hope that we will get together again soon.
I bought all the KA books, and some Brandee brought for me from Colorado, I also bought the Sherrilyn Kenyon books, and a few others. At the Indie meet on Sunday, I also bought several books for my collection. I also only picked up books I really want – apart from the ones I got in the tote bags, and I am actually looking forward to reading all of those, too.
I hope we will get together again soon, too!
It sounds like so much fun, Lexxie. And OMG! Look at all of those books. LOL It’s wonderful to have you back. Missed ya. And Freddy too:)
My Sunday Post
It really was a lot of fun, Laura. I’m glad you missed me 😀 And Freddy, of course 😉
I met Sonali Dev at RT two years ago and really loved her. I just recently bought one of her books from Book Outlet and I can’t wait to read it! Sounds like you had a fantastic time at RT!!
She was so sweet! And I can’t wait to read her stories, I hope they’re as sweet and full of joy as she is! I did have a fantastic time at RT, I wish I’d be able to go every year.
It sounds like an amazing trip! I would love to be able to go to RT one year.
It really was, Jackie! I hope you’ll be able to go one year, too. It’s really worth both the time and the money.
I’m glad you had a great time in Atlanta. Ooh the Hunger Games elevators! That would be cool to see. I’m curious what southern food you ate? I live fairly close to Georgia! Never had a mint julep though – I don’t do alcohol but it’s still popular around me. haha
-Lauren
http://www.shootingstarsmag.net
It really was a lot of fun, Lauren. The Hunger Games elevators were a surprise to me, I had no idea that part had been filmed next door from where we were staying. Thank goodness for Anne who took us on a guided tour 😀
I had shrimps and mashed sweet potatoes, I had biscuits and grit, I had fried chicken (so good!) and I’m sure I’m forgetting something… I loved the food so much. The Mint Julep not so much 😉
Twitter: AvalinahsBooks
Haha, I thought it was something like that 😀 that’s cute. And also funny 😀
That said, I’ve never had a work wife/husband 😀 that would be weird :DDD anywho, been working freelance for a while now, and previous offices were just too small, so maybe that’s why 😀
And it’s absolutely amazing those were all free! Super cool 🙂
I never had a work husband or wife, either. But I’m very happy to have Brandee as my blogger wife ♥ and Denise, too. It made for so many inside jokes 🙂
Twitter: AvalinahsBooks
I bet 😀 sounds like lots of fun.
