Weekend Wrap-up #189 – Welcome June

Posted 3 June, 2017 by Linda @ (un)Conventional Bookworms in Memes, Wrap-up Posts / 39 Comments

Weekend Wrap-up is where I share my new books, as well as what happened here at (un)Conventional Bookviews and elsewhere in the blogoshpere. I’m linking up with the usual suspects, AKA Team Tynga’s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer.

STS / BB&B - (un)Conventional bookviews

STS #189

Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews is all about the latest additions to my library – virtual or actual, with books that are  bought, borrowed, won or ARCs  I will (probably) be reading soon. Without further ado, here’s what I added to my bloated shelves this past week:

Purchased - (un)Conventional Bookviews bought borrowed and bagged stacking the shelves

Remember When 2 cover - (un)Conventional Bookviews - Weekend Wrap-upRemember When 3 cover - (un)Conventional Bookviews - Weekend Wrap-upMarking Time cover - (un)Conventional Bookviews - weekend wrap-upThe Player cover - (un)Conventional Bookviews - Weekend Wrap-upLove in Transit cover - (un)Conventional Bookviews

I had to buy the two Remember When books, because as soon as I finished reading the first book, I needed more. Loved that trilogy so much! Marking Time and The Player were freebies, and I’m currently reading Love in Transit! I love it 🙂

The Sunday Post #139 – Weekend Wrap-up

Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

This was the last week of actual teaching, now, until June 20th, there are exam sessions for my students. My 2nd year students have oral exams – which means I have some long mornings ahead of me 🙂  The weather has been really good , almost too hot for me, but sunny, and the nights have been really cool.

June 2nd was my blogoversary, and I kind of forgot about it… I’ll do a post on Sunday about it, with a giveaway. I can’t believe I have been blogging for 5 years already.

Friday next week is the date for my defense, and I’m actually pretty nervous about it. I have things to prepare still, but I think it will be OK.

Once again, I’ve been a bad friend, not visiting blogs. Thank you guys for not holding it against me!

  1. Good news that school’s winding down and you’ve got good weather. Oh, nail-biting time until the defense. I’ll look forward to the post afterward when you show you made it. 🙂

Oh, you remind me, I need to finish the Remember When trilogy, too. I read book one and loved it.

Happy Blogoversary! Five years is great.

  2. I’m glad the weather here has cooled down a bit and it is a comfortable temperature. Monday is supposed to be wet and miserable but it’s ok by me! Decent week for me on the reading and blogging side of things and a nice rest from everything planned for next week. Fun! Have a good week!

  3. Yeah, we’re headed into hot weather now too. It’s bad. You’d think I’d be used to the temps and humidity since I lived in St. Louis all my life. But nope. I HATE it! Much prefer winter! Rather layer up in the cold then suffer in the heat! That’s my reasoning at least! Lol!

Good luck on your defense next week! Not sure how it all works, but GOOD LUCK!! 😀

And yay for your blogoversary!! I know I said it earlier, but Happy Blogoversary!! Congrats on the 5 years! That’s awesome!

You got all new to me reads this week, but I hope you enjoy them all!!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

    • I prefer winter too! As you said, it’s not that hard to put on layers and layers of clothes and still be warm enough.

Thank you! For my defense, I first have to present my project, talk about things I might have done differently, and try to anticipate some questions. This part lasts 30 minutes, and then the two people who are grading me will ask questions after that…

  4. My students had graduation last night so it is officially summer vacation here. It has been in the upper 80’s and next week will hit 90. We still don’t have our AC fixed either, so its pretty miserable. Oh well! Best of luck with your thesis defense!

  5. It seems like time just flies and you don’t even realize it. You got some impressive stuff done and coming up. Freddie is very active.

  6. You sounds so busy right now, so don’t worry about not visiting blogs. We all fall away from time to time, and eventually make time again to catch up. Good luck to all your students!

  7. I totally get that your nervous about your defense. You’ll do great!! 😉 I will keep my fingers crossed for you!!
I love those covers of the Remember series. I haven’t read that series but I’m totally putting them on my TBR.. They sound really good.
Have a great week Lexxie and happy reading!

  8. Wow! Five years of blogging! That’s awesome. Congratulations!

Good luck with the prep for your defense – I’m sure it’s all under control. 🙂

I often get behind on the blogging so would never hold that against anyone else! 🙂 Life comes first!

Hope you have a wonderful week!

  9. Hi Freddy!! I’ve been really bad about visiting other blogs lately myself. Time restraints and internet issues really put a damper on that. I’ll be starting my second job on Wednesday so I’ll have even less time than before. At least the paycheck will look good in the end, ha. Happy reading!!

  10. Enjoy your books! Marking Time looks tempting.

I often forget my blogoversaries, too, primarily because I have six blogs…LOL. My first blog started in April 2008, and has since merged into one of my other blogs (An Interior Journey).

Freddy is having fun, as usual.

    Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  11. I’m way behind in visiting blogs myself. 🙂 So I can’t throw any stones in your direction. <3

I'll repeat my earlier comment…I know you will be awesome in your defense and will send positive thoughts in your direction.

  12. I’m eager for you to be done teaching for the year just so you’ll be more accessible! LOL 😛 I hope exams go well though AND your defense for your thesis too. I know it will though, wifey. I can feel it! 😀 Happy Blogoversary…so happy you started blogging, otherwise, I’d have never met my blogging wife. And I just adore you!! *smooches*
**BIG HUGS** and lots of love!

    • Ha! Yeah, me, too, Brandee 🙂 More accessible *still giggling* I wish we were neighbors, or that we mastered teleportation! I think it will go well with my defense, I’m just nervous about it anyway. I’m working on preparing that today, as I don’t have classes. Tomorrow, 13 of my students have oral exams :O I need to be calm and clear-headed for that 🙂
I’m happy I started blogging too, because I love all our chats and meetings 🙂 *smooches* back at you my dear <3 <3 <3

    • I think May was my best month, even though I was at RT for part of it – 20 books read, it’s a record month for 2017 so far 🙂
I hope you’ll be able to read / listen to more books, too. It’s always nice to catch up on stories.

    • Yeah, some of my students are really nervous, and I hope they’ll do well! I will have my defense, too, which is first me talking for 30 minutes about my thesis, and then, the two professors will ask me questions… So yeah, I’m also nervous :O
