The Sunday Post #148 – Weekend Wrap-up

Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

Yet another week of sea-side vacation was good. But it’s gotten really hot once more, and I am so, so happy we have ac in our apartment! My husband and youngest son came back here on Thursday, and on Friday, my oldest daughter and her boyfriend left again. We’re planning on going back to Geneva next week, as my husband has quite a bit of work. Plus, I haven’t even opened a single book for work or started my lesson plans… the beach calling to me has just been way too strong.

I’ve already gone way over my COYER goal, and I’m so happy with all my reading. I haven’t really read many ARCs lately, though, as I ‘discovered’ Sarina Bowen. So I’ve been binge-reading almost all her books. They are so good. Really. There are some very important issues in her New Adult romances, and they’re all so realistic.

  1. Glad the summer holiday at the beach is really going well and you can relax.

Look at all the Sarina Bowens. 🙂 I have Him as my TBR pile read for the month so I might be the binge reader on her stuff next.

    Have a great week, Lexxie!

    • I already read both Him and Us, Sophia, and they were so good. Her characters are so fleshed out, and her storylines are really realistic. I hope you’ll find the time to read those, I can’t wait to see what you think of them…
She’ll be at the book fest I’m going to in September, and now, I want all her books in paperback so I can have them signed. *sighs*

  2. Ooh nice weather and the beach- I think I’d have a hard time reading too! Enjoy the rest of your time there, and yay for COYER! Amazing how many reviews are going up for that!

    Happy reading!

  3. I am glad you are enjoying your time at the beach! It sounds divine! It’s been stormy here recently. Humid with thunderstorms. I don’t mind so much though. I just wish I was still on vacation!

I’ve been hearing a lot about Atheists that Kneel and Pray lately. I am glad to see you liked it. I will look for your review.

I hope you have a wonderful rest of your time away!

  4. Glad you’re enjoying your vacation! But ugh heat! We had an unusually nice day yesterday! We’re talking totally abnormal weather for St. Louis August weather! It was actually below 80 for the high! That never happens! At least not to my knowledge! Lol! Hope things aren’t too hot for you! I personally cannot stand the heat and I’ve lived here all my life and summers are always long, hot, and humid! Ugh! Can’t wait for fall!!

Nice new reads too! All totally new to me ones! It’s so fun when you discover a new-to-you author and then you get to binge read all their books! Hope you enjoy the new reads!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

    • I know! I’m so happy for air conditioning. It just saves me to be able to walk into a cool apartment 🙂

Discovering an author who has already published a lot of books is awesome, and now, I think I’ve read all of Bowen’s backlist *sigh*

  5. The Sarina Bowen books look like wonderful reads. I haven’t heard of her, but will place one of her books on my TBR as a marker so I don’t forget. Do you teach English at the university level? I work with young children as a 1:1 aide. I love it. There is such a range of careers in education, right? Have fun at the beach with Freddy.

    • Her books are just made of awesome, Ardis! I think I’ve read almost all her backlist now, so once more, I’ll have to wait like everyone else 🙂
I teach in high school, and it’s ESL, as I live in a French-speaking country. It’s really nice in high school, though, because I both teach the language and the grammar, but we also read, analyse and write essays 😀
You’re totally right, there is so many different careers in education, and I’m very happy about that.

  6. The heat can be unbearable at times. Freddy looks like he is an active little dog. I hope you love all of your new books.

    • I absolutely loved both Him and Us, too. And all of her books have enchanted me – so you should definitely pick up more, Julie 😉 I haven’t written full reviews for many of them, but there are star-ratings and one-sentence reviews up on GoodReads 🙂

  7. Enjoy your vacation, Lexxie. Oh it sounds awesome. I want to see the picts of the scenery there. It must be so beautiful. Anyway, thank you so much for your AWESOME recommendations. I’ve added them on the post. Wow, they sound Fantastic!! Thank YOU!
You make me curious about Sarina Bowen’s books. I haven’t read any book by hers. I’ll give her a try soon though.

Have a wonderful week, my friend. Enjoy your books. ?❤️

    • I will share some pics next week, Geybie, promise! I have less than usual from when we’re here, though, because I have an inflammation in my achilles tendons, so I’ve been walking much less, so no hilltop photos of the village or the sea.
I’m glad you enjoyed all my recs! I went a bit crazy there, but I truly enjoyed all of those series. A lot.
Sarina Bowen is amazing for contemporary romance, new adult and adult, there’s some that are hockey-player romances, and she really gets the game! Plus all the craziness that surrounds it. (My hubby was playing hockey when we met). Also, her stories and characters are very realistic.

  8. I adore Sarina Bowen! Her writing is amazing! Glad you are enjoying vacation! All the school and lesson planning stuff will still be there when you get home, so enjoy vacation.

    • I agree, Sarina Bowen is truly amazing! She’ll be at a bookfest I’m going to in September, and now I want to purchase ALL her books in paperback to have her sign them 😀
Of course lesson planning stuff will still be there… It’s just that I’ve gotten more classes than what was planned, so since I now will have four different levels of English to prepare for, it’s going to take longer to get ready 😀 It’s going to be a very nice kind of busy, though 🙂

    • They were both amazing, Kim. Bowen is going to be a must-read author for me from now on, that’s for sure.

LOL of course you’ve forgotten which Prime first book you chose :p I only put mine here because I chose it while I was writing my post!

  9. Super jealous, wish I could just go to the beach. The weather isn’t great where I am which sucks. Nice to hear it’s been an almost relaxing week for you though :D!!

  10. Sounds like you had another great week Lexxie. Spending the summer in Spain sounds amazing. And you definitely seem to get some great reading done! I’m jealous! LOL! 😉
Enjoy your books and have a great week! Happy Reading.

  11. I am glad you are enjoying your vacation and sorry it’s getting really hot there, for some reason we have went into fall like weather and as much as I like it I don’t because I don’t want that to mean an early winter. 🙁

Have a great week!! Enjoy those reads!
    Stormi oxox

  12. It’s hot here too and lots of showers. Wish it would clear up and stay that way for a while. We need a high pressure system to stall over us here. LOL By the looks of your books, it’ll stay hot for you. LOL Freddy looks like he’s looking for some fun with sun and sea:)

    My Sunday News

  13. We had rain on Friday around lunch time. We went out for a late lunch after yard work. When we walked out of the restaurant the temperature had increased at least 15 degrees. It was hot and humid, not typical directly following rain. I’m hoping for cooler weather. I haven’t done anything for school, either. Our first official day back is Friday. I don’t know why the district picked for us (teachers) to come back on a Friday. Enjoy the rest of your vacation!

I’m so jealous of all your time at the beach! so nice 🙂 Enjoy what you have left before you have to get down to business and lesson planning! I’m going to have to look up Sarina Bowen, I really love it when romances confront important issues too. And the covers are nice to look at 🙂

    Have a great week Lexxie! Miss you! {{HUGS}}

  15. Your vacation sounds amazing and it’s great you’ve gotten a lot of reading done. It’s nice to step away from the ARCs and just read books you really want to. It’s been hot here too, but our summers are always like this. I hope you continue to enjoy your vacation and have a safe trip home. Have a great week!

  16. Seaside visits – jealousy! 🙂 I’m also on vacation now, but I’m at a kids’ camp by a lake, where my Bf is working. It’s a bit different for a vacation, but I’m not complaining. I would love to see the sea this year though! Don’t know if I can, but maybe for a weekend or so.
