Weekend Wrap-up is where I share my new books, as well as what happened here at (un)Conventional Bookviews and elsewhere in the blogoshpere. I’m linking up with the usual suspects, AKA Team Tynga’s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer.

STS #200

Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality is all about the latest additions to my library – virtual or actual, with books that are  bought, borrowed, won or ARCs  I will (probably) be reading soon. Without further ado, here’s what I added to my bloated shelves this past week:

The Sunday Post #150 – Weekend Wrap-up

Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

The beginning of this week was really nice! The weather was good, I did some work to prepare for the new school-year, and my kids were all under one roof. On Thursday, my mom arrived, and as always, it’s great to have her here! She’s staying only for the weekend, so it’s short but sweet!

On Friday, we received devastating news about a death in the family. A fatal motorcycle accident swiftly took the life of a beautiful and sweet spirit, and it is really hard to think about. It feels so surreal, and at the same time, we know it’s true. Lori Jo was my husband’s brother’s ex-wife, she and her fiancé were both killed, and she left her two sons and the rest of her family shocked with grief. Her heart, her smile, and her joie de vivre will live on, but right now, I think we’re all shadowed in sadness 🙁

  1. Glad you had a lovely and quiet week getting ready for school and visiting with your mom. What a tough loss to your family. She sounds like a lovely lady and will be deeply missed.

    Have a good week, Lexxie!

  2. Your new ARCs look great, SO tempting. I hope you enjoy them.

Ohh, I’m so sorry to hear about your brother’s ex-wife’s passing. You and your family are in my thoughts. ❤️

  3. Oh my gosh! That’s so sad! I am so sorry to hear of your loss! I’ll keep you and your family in my thoughts!

Oh wow, nice new reads! Some new to me ones in there, but I see The Hunt! I’m still eagerly awaiting my copy to arrive, which hopefully won’t be too much longer! I love Chloe’s books! I like this series so far too! But omg, I sooooo cannot wait for her Chicagloand Vampires spinoff! Blanking on the name already because it was awhile ago that I heard it! April I believe! Eek!

Hope you enjoy the new reads and have a great week ahead!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then!

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

    • Thank you Jessica 🙂

I look forward to reading The Hunt, too! I really do enjoy this series 🙂 I didn’t know there was a Chicagoland spinoff! I actually stopped reading that series, though, after book 8 or 9…

      Have a great weekend.

  4. Oh Lexxie I’m so sorry to hear your terrible news. Those poor kids must be in pieces. It never seems fair to me that good people are taken so young and rapists and paedophiles seem to live long lives. Life can be pretty cruel. You are all in my thoughts *hugs*

  5. I’m glad you had a nice beginning of the week and were able to spend time with your mom.

I’m sorry to hear of the loss in your family, you are in my thoughts.

  6. So sorry that your former sister in law passed away. That is always tragic news to receive. Try to enjoy your time with your mom and family!
You got some good books this week! Enjoy them!

  7. Awww, my friend, I am so sorry to hear of your loss! How heartbreaking! I will have you all in my thoughts and prayers!
I hope you had a great visit with your mom and it’s always nice to have everyone home under one roof. My kids will be away the last week of August and they haven’t left yet and I know I will miss them like crazy.

Have a wonder week, My friend! I will be thinking of you! Hugs!!! xoxox

  8. I’m so very sorry to hear about such a cruel loss – what a shock for you all… At least you were together this week-end and I hope your mother’s visit is a good one. I’m glad you got some preparation time for this coming term’s classes – I can’t believe the speed at which the holidays are passing! I hope this week brings some sunshine and peace, Lexxie.x

  9. I’m sorry for your loss– whether young or old, a sudden loss takes our breath away. Good thoughts sent your way, and to your extended family.

I like the sound of Half Past, and just put it on my wishlist on GR. I’ll have to check this author out further. Have a good week ahead.

  10. I’m sorry to hear about your loss Lexxie. That’s just horrible! Sending you and your family a virtual hug! I hope you were still able to enjoy your weekend with your mother.
Have a good week and happy reading!

  11. I’m so sorry to hear your news, Lexxie. Devastating news does hit very hard. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers, especially her two boys. *hugs*

  12. How horrible! I am sorry to hear about your loss. These accidents make me question my own mortality and it reminds me that life is short. You never know when it will be the last day of your life or someone you love. Sorry especially for those boys, growing up without a parent is hard.
    Your new books look really good. I especially like the look of The Hunt and Half Past. I am looking for ward to hearing your thoughts on those. Have a good week and happy reading! {{{BIG hugs}}}

  13. So sorry about your sad news, Lexxie. She sounds like a lovely woman and so sad for her little ones. I live each day thankful to be alive and feel the same when I return home each day. Life is precious. I’m glad you had a full house with family this week.
