Weekend Wrap-up is where I share my new books, as well as what happened here at (un)Conventional Bookviews and elsewhere in the blogoshpere. I’m linking up with the usual suspects, AKA Team Tynga’s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer.
STS #212
Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality is all about the latest additions to my library – virtual or actual, with books that are bought, borrowed, won or ARCs I will (probably) be reading soon. Without further ado, here’s what I added to my bloated shelves this past week:
I got this one in the Avon newsletter, I can’t wait to dig in!
This one is all Jana Aston’s fault! I love Aston’s books, and her humor, and her characters… she’s been going absolutely bananas over this series on Facebook lately, so I had to get my hands on the first book.
The Sunday Post #162 – Weekend Wrap-up
Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.
This week was exhausting! We had meetings about students who have not done too well this first half of the semester, and that took a lot out of me. I also had my first parent-teacher meeting. Ever. And I was a bit nervous about it. It went really well, though, and some parents even thanked me for having motivated their teens to work harder. So that was a success.
Next week will be more of the same – with more parent-teacher meetings. More grading. And more classes. I have started two classes for teachers, one is about motivating students. The other is what to do when we have students with special needs. Both are very interesting.
Next week, sign-ups for the 2018 New Release Challenge will go live. So please do stop by. And, you know, sign up 😉

Did you get some good books last week? What have you been up to this past week? Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’re enjoying your weekend, and that next week will be filled with awesome!
Hey, that’s great that your PT Conf are going well, though, yes, I remember being so wiped out at the end of the day when I did them. Neat that you’re doing those trainings. They sound good.
Ha, I’ve bought books because someone was just so enthusiastic that I had to try it, too. 🙂
I’ve had a great time with New Release Challenge this year. Wow, it’s getting down to that time of year again. I’ll have to figure out what challenges I want to do. Thanks for putting this together. 🙂
Ah, cute Hercules!
Hopefully you get a good weekend and lots of rest to finish up your grades and your conferences next week.
I’m still tired, Sophia, but it still made me feel good!
It is getting to that time of year again… it’s weird how fast time is flying, and planning for 2018 needs to start.
Thanks for stopping by xoxo
That is good news that your PT’s are going well so far. I hope they continue to go well. It takes a lot to be a teacher and I thank you for it. Keep up the great work ^_^. I enjoyed your review for Cherish Hard by Nalini Singh. I have Singh CR’s on my list to try. Have a great weekend. Stay warm and happy reading!!
I hope so, too, Angela.
I hope you’ll enjoy Singh’s CR as much as I did!
Teaching is a big deal, so to have parents personally thanking you for motivating their kids to do better is wonderful news, and speaks to all of your hard work. Kudos! Hopefully things will wind down soon, and you can relax a little. Hugs…RO
I know, it made me feel really good, Ro 🙂 I was a bit nervous since it’s the first time I’m the main teacher for a class, so I’m happy it went so well.

no photos of Freddy? Oh I am wary of the Jana Aston cover, seems someone over photoshopped? I do love her writing though
It’s not Jana Aston’s cover… it’s Jana who recommended the book to me. I think the cover is gorgeous, even if I can’t figure out where her arms are 😀
Ohhhh!!!! SOOO cannot wait for Moonlight Sins!! Edelweiss already turned me down. Wanted to try requesting again since I jazzed up my profile but apparently that’s a no-no. Sigh…not like I don’t have enough of her books to read anyway! I was just lamenting over how many of her books are in my TBR pile! That is just not done…except it is!
Happy Reading!
My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
I got it through the Avon newsletter, maybe if you sign up for that, it could work? Thanks for stopping by, Jessica!
Yay for conferences going well!! Good luck with your classes. Super cute pup!! Enjoy your new books and have a great week!
Thanks, Grace 🙂 It was a huge weight off my shoulders that it went so well 🙂
I’m glad your meetings went well, even if they were stressful. Enjoy your new books and have a great week!
Thanks Aj 🙂 Have a great week yourself!
Hope next week is better and less exhausting!
Thanks, Jamie! I think it will be more of the same, November is a tough month!
A new JLA book!!!! Not that I’m nearly caught up on her books as it is but adding this to my list lol.
I know! I can never resist a JLA book, either , Eve 🙂
It’s always nice when a parent thanks you! 🙂 It must have been lovely to hear. I hope you enjoy your collection of books.
Yes, it was so lovely to hear, Chrissi! It made my exhaustion totally worth it!
I would think the first ever parent- teacher conference would be stressful, no question. There must be so many different kinds of parents out there. Glad it went well though!
Hercules is a cutie!
Yup, lots of different kinds of parents, just like there are lots of different kinds of students 🙂 I’m glad it went so well, it will help me in the future, too, for sure 🙂
I’m so envious, I would like to read Moonlight Sins…. hurry January! A busy you had, hopefully you can relax soon. I think sometimes parents are more nervous about parent-teacher conferences, glad they went well for you. Hercules is so adorable, maybe next week Freddy wouldn’t be camera shy. Have a wonderful day.
You should try signing up for the Avon newsletter, Jovita 🙂 That’s where I got my copy.
November will be fairly busy, then, December should be back to normal before the break.
Freddy has been nicer with the camera this weekend, so I’ll have some pics of him, too, next week.
Looking forward to the new sign ups. Sounds like a busy week, but productive. I love seeing how big Hercules is getting. Look at those paws!
You’re right, it was productive as well as busy.
I know, those paws make me think he’ll grow to be bigger than Freddy!
The Parent/Teacher meetings can be very challenging. Good for you conquering these events. Enjoy your books…and thanks for sharing.
Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
Thanks, Laurel-Rain, it was actually a pretty good experience 🙂
¨
I’m so distracted by Hercules that I forgot what I wanted to say!!! He looks so different than Freddy but he is equally adorable!!
OH! Congratulations on surviving Parent/Teacher meetings!! My, how far you’ve come, right??? You rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Haha Kristin! Hercules can definitely be distracting in his cuteness 😀
Thank you, I have, indeed come far!
Aw, look at Hercules! What a cutie pie. I’m glad your parent-teacher conferences went so well. That’s awesome. 🙂

He sure is, Lauren. Thanks for stopping by!
What a cute puppy 🙂 It sounds like you had a stressful week with more stress to come. I am sure you will continue to have great results. Have a great week and enjoy your new books!
Thanks, Carole. I sure think he’s cute.
After November, things will calm down quite a bit, so I can at least see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I’m curious about American Queen series, too. It’s been recommended to me by so many. I heard that it’s super forbidden. A yummy, yummy read. I think you’d enjoy it. Have a wonderful week and happy reading. ?❤️
I hope I’ll enjoy it as much as the hype suggests I should, Geybie 😉 Sometimes, hyped books kind of fall flat for me, because my expectations are so high 🙂
How wonderful that the conference went well for you. That cover for American Queen is spectacular. And I hope Freddy doesn’t read your blog. He might be jealous of cutie Hercules stealing the show. LOL
My Sunday Post
Yes, it was very nice that it went so well 🙂
That cover is spectacular, and I have to work on keeping my expectations in check lest I be disappointed…
I think Freddy is OK, he gave me the stinky eye every time I got my phone out for a picture last week.
We just had our parent-teacher conference last week. Glad, yours went well. It must feel good to get positive comments from parents.
It sure does feel good, Emma, it means I do at least some things right 🙂
That was lovely feedback to get from the parents. I need to read a Jana Aston book, as I like what you say about her sense of humour.
It was, Trish, it made my night!
You do need to read a Jana Aston book 🙂 She always makes me laugh!
Yikes! Parent /Teacher meetings! They can be so stressful at times! Glad you made it through alright!
I know! But it went well, so now I’ll have a more positive outlook for the next one, and possibly be a little less stressed 🙂
Some nice books for you! Happy reading girl!
Thanks Melliane 🙂

Ooh, that cover of American Queen. Talk about amazing aesthetics!
Your puppy is growing by the day 🙂 I feel like he’s so much bigger 🙂 although he’s still got that totally innocent look on his face. Does he get into any trouble around the house? 🙂
Yes! I so agree, it’s gorgeous.
Hercules is growing every day it feels like. And that innocent face is just a front… promise 😉
Oh yes – I recall how tiring Parent Evenings were – on top of a day’s teaching. And it is always a concern when students are under-performing. I love the pic of Hercules, he looks adorable. Have a great week – I hope it is less draining.
Herc is so darn cute. 🙂
Oops…here’s my link.

Those classes you’re taking do sound interesting. It is also great that your parent meetings went well. Hopefully, they will do well next week too. Have a great week.
PT conferences are often challenging and always tiring; I hope the rest of yours go well. The puppy is adorable. Are he and Freddy getting along all right?

RTI Meetings are exhausting – at least that’s what we call them here, not sure if it’s the same there. But going over data and trying to find a reason why a child’s not doing well and coming up with a way to get them there is so exhausting, especially when (in my case) the simple and most correct answer is usually, they are not developmentally ready to master these skills yet. Yes, I know they’re five, but all fives are not equal! And then parent-teacher conferences to top it off! yikes, what a week. Parent-teacher conferences are stressful, but usually go really well for me too. Of course the parents love you (who wouldn’t?), it’s just not fun. Here’s to getting through another week of them!
Enjoy your books and hope you have a slower week! Miss you so much! {{HUGS}}
I have no idea if RTI (what does it mean?) is the same… as here, everything happens in French, apart from my actual classes 😀 I have no idea why they feel the need to do everything in the same two weeks, though, it’s truly exhausting! The last week of October was fall break, and then all hell broke loose *sighs*
My students are much older than yours, but not all teens are the same, either, and it’s hard sometimes to motivate them. Some don’t want to go to school anymore, but would rather find an apprentice ship, but their parents won’t let them.
Aww thank you Berls! You say the nicest things! Miss you lots and lots, too! {{{HUGS}}}
I just picked up American Queen yesterday after hearing SO many good things about it. Can’t wait to dive into it this week and to hear what you think about it. Happy to hear conferences are going well and super cute pic of your Pup 🙂 Have a great week and happy reading!

Couple of lovely books! I think it would be stressing to have to talk to parents so I am glad it went well!
Have a great week!

Week in Review
I’m glad your parent conferences went well. We now have to have two sets of conferences, in the fall and the spring, on early release days. Really, that means you’re able to schedule a conference at 1:30 to 3:30 in 30 minute increments. Some of my counterparts this year didn’t even attend one! I think I should take that route in the spring. Honestly, five years in, I still sometimes get nervous about certain students and their parents. You just never know what is going to come about.
Your puppy is so cute! Have fun reading the books you got.
Hercules is very cute!
I can’t wait to see what you think of American Queen! I hope to start American King this weekend. 😉
Your week does sound like it was pretty busy but I’m happy it went so well and I hope this week is too. New classes for teachers?!? Seriously, wifey. I don’t know how you do all you do! ) 0_0
Hercules is so adorable. Is Freddy feeling like he doesn’t rate as highly? Or was he just being stubborn about the camera?!?
Happy reading, my dear! Miss you and love you!!! {{{BIG HUGS}}}
The cover to American Queen looks so good! And I’m so glad to hear that your first parent teacher meetings went so well! Being able to motivate teens to work harder is EPIC and that is something you should feel really proud and happy about 🙂
