Weekend Wrap-up #227 – All the Snow!

Weekend Wrap-up is where I share my new books, as well as what happened here at (un)Conventional Bookviews and elsewhere in the blogoshpere. I’m linking up with the usual suspects, AKA Team Tynga’s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer.

STS / BB&B - (un)Conventional bookviews

STS #227

Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality is all about the latest additions to my library – virtual or actual, with books that are  bought, borrowed, won or ARCs  I will (probably) be reading soon. Without further ado, here’s what I added to my bloated shelves this past week:

ARCs Recieved - (un)Conventional Bookviews - Bought Borrowed and Bagged Stacking the ShelvesBefore We Were Strangers cover - (un)Conventional Bookviews - Weekend Wrap-up

Thank you, Harlequin and NetGalley!

Purchased - (un)Conventional Bookviews bought borrowed and bagged stacking the shelves

Opal cover - (un)Conventional Bookviews - Weekend Wrap-up

Rook and Ronin was the first series I read by J.A. Huss. The new covers are gorgeous, so I had to buy them at RARE.
Denis Grover Swank shelf - (un)Conventional Bookviews - Weekend Wrap-up
I went a tiny bit crazy with my pre-order form Denise Grover Swank 😉
signed Never Never - (un)Conventional Bookviews - Weekend Wrap-up
I was laughing so hard… Tarryn Fisher states that she’s better than Colleen Hoover 🙂

The Sunday Post #177 – Weekend Wrap-up

Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

We got so much snow this week! It’s supposed to all melt again during the weekend, but it was complete chaos in Geneva for two days. Buses cancelled. Roads not cleared. A lot of people driving without winter tires… I managed to get to work on time on Thursday, but at the beginning of my first hour, I only had three students in my class.

I have been really busy, too, because next week is mid-semester testing week, and I had to prepare tests, and get them approved. It also took me a while to get down from the high of RARE in London. I had a fantastic time, and can’t wait for my next bookish trip.

I read 16 books in February, which actually puts me several books ahead in my Goodreads challenge for the year so far. Most of those books counted towards the COYER challenge, and several also counted towards the New Release Challenge. And I am happy to say I really enjoyed most of the books I read – I hope the year will continue to be so good book-wise!

This Week’s Puppies in Action:

To say the dogs enjoy the snow is the understatement of the year!

Freddy and Hercules in the snow - (un)Conventional Bookviews - Weekend Wrap-up
They were zooming around, but I managed a picture!

Hercules was so funny, because all the sounds were muted, he was on the lookout 🙂

  1. Lots of pretty snow for the dogs, but yes, a pain to get around town in.

Yay for RARE being a great book trip for you. Tarryn was funny with her signing. Those are pretty Huss covers.

Hopefully, your test writing will go smoothly and get approved.

    Have a nice weekend, Lexxie!

  2. Oohh nice!! Some new to me reads there! Glad you had fun at your event! I was checking out your instagram pics! My next big multi author event isn’t until November. So I am counting down those days!! Lol!! Well, counting down the days to October first when I take my Disney trip! Lol!!

Hope you enjoy all your lovely new reads! Have a GREAT week!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  3. I hope you enjoy your new books Lexxie! We also got some snow in the UK this week. We’re really not used to it here, so everything grinds to a halt. My school was closed for the 2 days that it snowed!

    • Yeah, I saw snow pictures form the UK, Chrissi. It looks really beautiful, but it isn’t all that convenient in places that hardly get any. Buses were cancelled here because they don’t have snow tires…
No schools were closed though, so I knew I had to arrive on time – even if hardly any of my students did 😀

  4. I haven’t been out the house since the snow came on Wednesday and it looks like it’ll be a few more days before it is safe to drive as well. I’m out of chocolate so there is a crisis! Looks like your furry hounds are enjoying the snow!

  5. Glad RARE was good, but the snow sounds crazy! I’m so over winter at this point ha ha. Yeah the dogs look pretty happy though! Course they don’t have to shovel. 🙂

16 books- wow! Nice. Have a super weekend LExxie!

  6. Wow, 16 books in such a short month! Congrats!

Enjoy the new books…I haven’t yet read Never Never…and I am planning to read a Brenda Novak book.

Thanks for sharing the happy puppies in the snow.

    • I agree! Those covers are so beautiful! And I have to say I want to buy all new paperbacks for all her series now – as she’s updated all the covers. *sighs* That is such a first world / bookworm problem to have…
Yeah, the dogs are extatic with the snow – which means they sleep even more than normal 😀

  7. OMG THE ROOK AND RONIN COVERS ARE SUPER CUTE WTF
(sorry my excitement couldnt becontained. ive never even hear dof the books but !!!! how lovely !!!)

  8. 16 books is great and the dogs look like they’re having so much fun in the snow. The teachers in our state right now are on strike and have been for the past 9 days. It may last all next week too. That Brenda Novak book looks and sounds awesome.

    • Yeah, I was kind of surprised I managed that many, but also very happy about it. Now, I just need to write all those reviews 😀
Why are the teachers on strike? Several teachers here went on strike in December, as the government is trying to lower our salary. But they also expect us to have a longer education before we can become teachers now – and the two just do not compute.
I love Brenda Novak, and I’m so happy I got a copy – especially because it won’t be released until September, so I have all the time in the world.

  9. I’m glad you enjoyed RARE and I’m guessing you managed to get out of London before everything slid to a halt on Tuesday when the Beast from the East blew in. Needless to say the UK was paralysed due to the snowfall we had… While we are now all thawed out (thank goodness!) large parts of the country are still frozen. Have a good week, Lexxie.

    • Yeah, we were only in London from Friday to Sunday, so no problem there, thank goodness! We still have snow, but it has also rained, so I don’t think it will last much longer. Hopefully, it won’t get below zero tonight, so the roads will be driveable tomorrow morning 🙂

  10. I am so glad you had a fantastic time-lucky duck!! While you had lots of snow we had a ton of rain and then very cold-here in PA. Hopefully spring is around the corner-weather wise!! Have a great week!

  11. Hey there pups! And hi Lexxie!

I love the new JA Huss covers, they look beautiful! Sounds like you had a great time in London.

I hope you love your acquisitions! We had some snow in Vienna too, last week. It was really chilly too, not used to below zero temperatures anymore. Brrrr.

I hope you have a fabulous week!

  12. What a awesome book week for you. I love the covers also. I would have gotten them too. The dogs love the dogs! I am riding out the storm that took out our power at a friends. So surreal looking at all the downed trees and power lines cut in half. They say we won’t have power to our area till Wednesday!! Have a good Sunday!

  13. We had a weird weather event this week and some snow but nothing stuck, just lots of squish. I am so done with snow.
Our Dog loves snow too but we really only got one good snow storm. I am good without anymore. Just not feeling it this winter.

You looked like you had a great time! Have a wonderful week, my friend! Happy Reading! oxox

  14. We also had loads of snow, but since it’s a more regular kind of occurence for us, we are usually mostly prepared for it. Everyone has required to change into winter tyres in (probably) November, and the road cleaning machines are all ready. Sorry you had to go through that chaos though! It’s bad going in unprepared for such weather for sure. But hey, at least the doggos loved it 🙂
16 books, wow! I read 13, also happy about my progress 🙂

    • The mountains around here usually get quite a bit of snow, but we don’t even get snow every winter, here… So a lot of people totally panic when they have to drive in the snow.
When I lived in Norway, I was used to long, snowy winters, though. And the roads were always cleared!

  15. I loved the Rook and Ronin series, and adore the new covers they have now too! Your weather sounds dreadful though, I hope it clears up soon for y’all. No snow here lately, but some in the forecast this coming week. Fingers crossed it’s not a lot, or I won’t be getting down the mountain. Ah, I got plenty of books to keep my occupied. 😉 Have a great week.

  16. I’m surprised they didn’t cancel school with snow like that. I hope all goes well with testing next week. My students have a two-day district test and I hope I prepared them well!!

  17. No snow in FL but we did finally cool down from the upper 80’s. Now if we could get some rain to was all the pollen away I would be a happy girl 🙂

I had a pretty good reading month for February. I really tried to go outside my regular type of book and it worked out well.

Karen @ For What It’s Worth

    • I can’t even imagine what would happen if you got snow in Florida, Karen! Total chaos for sure 🙂
I’m very curious about the outside your norm for books you read in February. I love it when I expand my reading horizons and love it 🙂

    • In the past several years, we haven’t even gotten snow that stuck to the ground for a full day, so I’m pretty sure there are less people working on in the road clearing crew – if there are any left at all. Apparently, even the airport was totally closed or a couple of days.

    • RARE was a lot of fun, Laura. And I love that there are some good conventions, with authors from everywhere, here in Europe, too.
There wasn’t really enough snow for them to make actual tunnels, but my mom’s dachshund does make tunnels 😀

  18. I’m glad you were safe with all the snow, and your dogs are too cute! My dog likes the snow to an extent. She tries to eat it sometimes. haha

Ooh I still need to get Opal!

    -Lauren

  19. Very nice haul! So many people are talking about snow this week! I have to admit, I’m a bit jealous. There is almost never snow where I am. I have to drive up a mountain just to see and play in some. Lol. I’m a little jealous your ahead on your goodreads goal. Lol. I’m really behind on mine already. I’m hoping to remedy that this month. Enjoy all your books and have a great week!

    • I get being a bit jealous of the snow, but I would have preferred getting said snow in December or January 😀
I set my Goodreads goal a bit lower this year, because I get stressed if I’m behind… I hope you’ve caught up now, Brittani.

  20. I’m envious of your snow! We just haven’t gotten as much as normal. It’s been cold…just not much moisture. *sigh* I’m glad you navigated it all safely. And Freddy and Hercules look like the enjoyed it! 🙂 I’m envious of all your books, too, wifey. Sheesh!
    I hope this week is off to a good start for you. Maybe we can chat later this week? We *STILL* have to decide on our buddy reads! Anyway, happy Monday! {{{BIG HUGS}}}

  21. Wow, so much snow and the doggies are too cute! We’ve had two snowstorms this past week here as well. It’s pretty to look at though if you don’t have to venture out to work etc.
I love the Colleen Hoover/Taryn Fisher friendship lol. I’ve followed them online and they are too funny. Enjoy the books and stay warm!

  22. Ah ya, the snow – I am soooo tired of it! And for the upcoming weekend, they say we´ ll get very warm weather. Phew… The Opal cover looks gorgeous. I want that too *smile* Love reading Maggie Stiefvater books. It is always a pleasure to see your dog pictures. Freddy and Hercules are such cuties – thanks for sharing them with us.

Best wishes and sorry for my late reply.
