Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts #80
Welcome to Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts, an original weekly meme hosted here at (un)Conventional Bookviews. So many of the books I read have food or drinks in them, some I’d love to try, and others I’d never ever want to taste… and I thought it could be interesting and fun to share some food and / or drink quotes… If you want to participate, you can grab my logo if you’d like, or you can make your own, but please link back to me in your own post.
The idea of Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts is to share a quote with food or drinks that showed up in a recent read, as well as if it’s something you think you’d like or not. Please share the title of the book it happened in, as well as the character who ate or drank the special little something you discovered between the pages of a good read. Please link up beneath, and visit other bloggers who are participating in Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts as well.
This week, I’m sharing a Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts quote from Jill Shalvis’ upcoming book The Trouble with Mistletoe. It’s awesome, romantic, funny – hilarious in places, actually – and well written. In this scene, from the beginning of the story, Willa needs some coffee after grooming six golden retriever puppies…
My Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts quote:
Tina’s coffees came in themes and Willa knew just what she needed for the day ahead. “One of her It’s Way Too Early for Life’s Nonsense.” She pulled some more cash from her pocket and this time a handful of puppy treats came out too, bouncing all over the floor.
“And to think you can’t get a date,” Rory said dryly.
“Not can’t get a date,” Willa corrected. “Don’t want a date. I pick the wrong men, something I’m not alone in…”
Rory blew out a sigh at the truth of that statement and then went brows up when Willa’s stomach growled like a roll of thunder.
“Okay, so grab me a muffin as well.” Tina made the best muffins on the planet. “Make it two. Or better yet, three. No, wait.” Her jeans had been hard to button that morning. “Crap, three muffins would be my entire day’s calories. One,” she said firmly. “One muffin for me and make it a blueberry so it counts a as serving of fruit.”
“Got it,” Rory said. “A coffee, a blueberry muffin, and a straitjacket on the side.”
“Ha-ha. Now get out of here before I change my mind again.
Thanks for stopping by today, I look forward to reading your Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts quote. Have a terrific Thursday and don’t forget to link up.
Yay! Jill Salvia can do wrong, and it’s cool that you got your hands on what looks to be an awesome Christmas goody. Yes to food references, too! Hugs…
Oops! Shalvis
I agree, Shalvis is amazing, and can never do wrong 🙂 I hope you’ll be able to pick this one up – it was really well done!
Our local bakery has the best muffins and it is sooo hard to eat just one. 🙂 This one looks cute!
ha! Just one is like torture! It’s easier to not have any at all…
This book looks really cute! I am going to put it on my holiday TBR!
It really was cute, and I enjoyed the romance so much 🙂
Oh, I love the sound of this one. I’ve been wanting to read Jill Shalvis…and now I’m also hungry for some muffins. Thanks!
You haven’t read any Shalvis yet, Laurel-Rain? You’re missing out :O
Ha! The blueberries totally count. 😀 This sounds fun. I haven’t read any of her books yet. I know, I know!
Of course they count 😀 Eh! One day, I’m sure you’ll read a Shalvis book, and you’ll fall in love, too, Christy 😉
I’ve never been a big muffin fan. And I’ve never liked blueberries. I also hate coffee. I don’t think I’d fit in very well with this character lol 😛
LOL Kristen! Your answer would be ‘none of the above’, then 😀 There are other fun things and food and drinks, too here. So you might just find what you need.
Luckily I’m about to pour myself a cup of coffee – I’ve been up for over an hour and haven’t had my caffeine boost for the day. 😉 BUT the side of a blueberry muffin and some humor wouldn’t be amiss. LOL That was a fun scene. I hope to get to more Shalvis in the near future!
Happy Thursday, wifey! <3 *BIG HUGS*
How can you be up without caffeine, Brandee? That just won’t do! I’d give you a side of blueberry muffin and some humor every day 😉
*BIG HUGS* wifey ♡
You read this already?!?! Crap!! I need to start this one NEXT!!!! I can’t wait now!!!! Again, another smile today!!!
Yes, I just had to read it almost as soon as I got my hands on it, Kristin… I haven’t finished writing my review yet, but I will, soon. I’m pretty sure you’ll enjoy this one, too.
I love that the coffee has themes or names! How cute. I LOVE a good holiday read.
I love blueberry muffins, they are the best! I requested this book on edelweiss, let’s hope they approve me. I got the first book for review, but haven’t read it yet. Soon hopefully, as it sounds like a great series.
Straight jacket on the side… like it!
