Lincoln and Lila met during a funeral. There and then, they decided to write to each other, and grew very close through letters over the span of two years. When Lincoln screws up their plans, Lila is disappointed and angry - thinking everything they shared was a lie.
Crossing the Line is a short story about Lila – Echo’s best friend form Pushing the Limits and Lincoln, whose brother, Josh was killed at the same time as Echo’s brother Aeries in Afghanistan. Lila and Lincoln met during Aeries’ funeral two years ago, and they have been writing letters back and forth since then. Getting closer to each other, and sharing secrets they have told nobody else.
They have big plans for the future, but Lila is so angry with Lincoln because of a lie – and now, she thinks that everything he ever told her in his letter might be a lie. Lincoln knows he’s screwed up, and he wants to fix it. In order to repair his relationship with Lila, he drives for over ten hours and shows up unannounced at her house. Where she is all alone, scared, and just had a run-in with her ex.
The plot is a lot simpler in Crossing the Line than in the other books in the series, which is understandable because the story is very short as well. However, Katie McGarry still hooks the reader from the first line, and both Lila and Lincoln are very endearing characters. Knowing a little of their backgrounds is good, and seeing them interact with each other after writing to each other for a long time is excellent.
If you’re a fan of Pushing the Limits series, you should hurry and get Crossing the Line to keep you company until Crash Into You comes out, it is very cheap on kindle right now!

I undo the lock with an audible click. Thoughts of every urban legend and horror movie I’ve ever heard or seen flood my brain. My hand hesitates over the doorknob and adrenaline pumps into my blood. Oh my God, I’m such a wuss.
This is one of my favorite moments: the seconds before the kiss. It’s like dangling on a ledge with gravity pulling me forward and the wind daring me to let go and fly.

I almost bought this, but I wasn’t sure if I’d like it as much as Pushing the Limits and Dare You To. I suppose I didn’t really care for Lila and that’s what made me skip it. But, I didn’t care for Beth and Dare You To is my favorite… so..

I forgot that McGarry has this short story!! I really enjoyed PTL, and I liked Dare You To a bit less. Crossing the Line sounds great, and hopefully Lila is a better heroine than Beth.
I actually enjoyed Beth’s transformation once she was in a safe and loving environment.

I had to return to your review because I just read Crossing the Line last night. I loved it! I haven’t found many authors who can write a short novella and hook me so completely! I didn’t even care about Lila before. Now I want updates! Anyways, thought I’d fangirl to a fellow Katie McGarry groupie.
